i had to uninstall this mod it just takes me away from the game too much, reading percentages and numbers doesnt add any realism to me, i do love the idea, but all the stats are just a bit too much.
i like stats but not as my main point of reference. a simple bar like FONV that you could toggle on and off would more than ample and a lot less immersion breaking.
I have never in my life except visits to the doctor for a medical, ever known any of this info about myself (in real life), and thats with 20th Century technology. this mod makes me feel like i have a personal computer with some bio reader in it attached to me.
Great for FONV - not for Skyrim (in my opinion)
to me it doesnt feel like im managing my character, more im just managing a spreadsheet
im sure people who love reading stats and numbers will absolutely love this!
I agree with what you said.
I think that if sound effects and something visual appears on the screen will make this mod much more effective. I'm spending too much time looking in the Vitality screen which is as you said realism-breaking. It's not organic.
To be honest I agree with you. If you go into the config menu and go to advanced config->display options, you'll see a button that says something like "Classic Mode - Show Stats". The button doesn't do anything right now, but in the future it will let you toggle a realism mode where everything is reported as "you are hungry" or "you are thirsty" etc. I started with things the way they are though because that's what previous IMCN users are familiar with, and because having all the numbers visible makes it easier for me to keep track of exactly what's going on as I balance and debug.
Can you make beer and wine count towards hydration in basic mode? That would help given the easy availability.
As for realism: in the 18th century the British navy ran off of beer - when it ran out the ship turned for home. It was served with every meal. Add that to the daily rum ration and it becomes apparent that the British navy sailed the seas in a perpetually snookered state, but they got by

.
AFAIK it should already, food with alcohol in it gets no special treatment. I've also had a request to add alcohol and caffeine into the basic mode, so I'll probably be doing that in the next update unless anyone strenuously objects.
what should the numbers read if youre hungry?
Calories keeps track of how hungry you are, if it is negative you are hungry. Hydration is thirst. Satiation is how stuffed you are - if you're too full (more than 100% full) you get a penalty applied (slight hit to run speed.)
Loving it so far. Keeps you one your toes, since you have to actively search for things like food & water if you don't have enough.
That said, any chance for support for such mods as http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=9778 which add more food items in the future? I know there are a few other things to get worked out first, but...
I'll probably put together some compatibility patches once things are further along. At the moment though it has to be done in the CK, which means the mod I'm making the patch for has to have an .esm that the patch can use as a master. I'm hoping that when TESVEdit is released it will allow you to edit script properties, that would probably speed things up and would allow for me to make patches for .esp only mods.
