I am hopping that ZMI and ZOS is getting the idea that pay gates in sub game is just wrong, cheating and it not good for the ESO to have. The question is, how will they this fix firestorm?

AH93 I agree entirely, I just wish the "get money back" line of thought would think "Hey, if we make cool features available to EVERYONE!, and get more subscribers, we will make more in the long run! Let's include these features for everyone and not just those who throw money at us now." More subs = more money and a better chance for ESO to be a long-term survivor! I want more people to play, since that means more money to the devs = more money put into future content.
I was going by the words written by the person to whom I was replying and this image (of the retail IE bundle at Amazon): http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/91w1r%2BX2%2BbL._SL1500_.jpg
"Exclusive collection of digital content"
the way i see it, the faster they get into the black the more confident they will be going forward with making updates. i really hope they can recover the cost on initial sales
Likely brushing it off or justifying it in an aloof post on the main website.
Or there's the off chance that they do acknowledge and try to fix the situation, which happens rarely but always is a morale boost.
For the sake of subjectivity, I'll give you the Exclusive Collection for a moment. Since it is possible that Exclusive only applies to the collection. But that is very presumptuous with no facts to back it up. There is no indication what so ever that any of this content will be available in the future outside of the CE. Unless Ive missed something.

This is just released... and talks about this subject.
Yea, that is actually interesting opinion. That was also my first thought when watched this good trailer, but trailer. Unfortunately for me trailers are not what makes me excited about the game.
So it looked like kiddy action - let them show trailer, make excited and do paying.
Less presumptuous than applying the adjective to a word that is 4 words removed from that adjective (content vs. collection), imo.
But we'll see, I guess. Up until the announcement, Imperials were not a playable race at all so I feel the same way about it that I did last week. (Cue the slippery slope arguments).
Seems like a very reasonable response to me. I doubt it will do much to dampen the dull roar we've been hearing on the forums since this announcement came through.
Well I have played the beta not watched stuff on youtube. Probably the worst possible source. Go to an general gamins news site and watch their forum for an more neutral opinion.
Peoples opinions of games are based on feelings, most people liked the last tomb raider game. I did not finish it because of quicktime in combat.
Yes its an AAA game however I don't play games who make me wish hard for the combat in Morrowind.
If you listen to some of the reasonable critic of ESO you also see this: Too different from Skyrim, too much like other MMO, too different from WOW.
Its very easy to see the trolls, also people who are totally clueless. No orcs and Argonians are not evil.
Pretty common to even never lift the nda for closed betas. http://tamrielfoundry.com/topic/nda-why-still/
Difference is that it was not enforced much before. Again general gaming sites however their discussion is mostly buy / not buy.
Obviously Imperials was planned months ago, the decision to open for playing in other factions before Christmas. However I say its an high probability Imperials came up during the collector edition discussion they had, they have to order the physical items for it months ago anyway to get it cheap.
And I agree its an con, I would have both an digital collector edition with an mount, pet, some gear and more bag space. All is stuff you get for gold but not the same stuff.
Yes I know I would been ripped off but I would buy it anyway, money is not an issue.
I do not buy the imperial edition.
Laugh my ass off.
The only other alternative would have been to offer a collector’s edition that offers no in-game items whatsoever.
Really so the option is all or nothing? Give me a frigging break. There are a dozen In Game things I can pull out of my ass right now that people could use that wouldnt give them any advatage whatsoever and couldnt in any way shape or form be misconstrued as content.
That was as far as I got before I had to comment I am sure there are some more beauties in this thing.
"This is cool content designed for some of our biggest fans who wish to have something different from other collector’s editions in the market."
I rest my case
It boggles me that anyone would promote this kind of thing... this is the worst forum I have seen yet where people are blindly following the Carrot on the stick. Please dont be so naive. You let this one double dip, pay gate, micro transaction, whatever go, then we suffer later on in the future. Anyone who buys the CE is telling their marketing company that its fine for them to add pay gates and micro transactions. NEVER have I seen an MMO with a subscription have an exclusive like this... EVER. Vote with your dollar and stay away from the CE or you doom us all and this game. And do yourself a favor, leave your safe little box here and see what the internet and the majority fanbase actually thinks about this decision.
Wow... locking an entire race behind a pay gate with a sub AND a box price... wow. Someone thinks highly of themselves.
So what is the next pay gate in a sub based game? What is a point of a sub if we are getting nickel and dime to death?
I wont say because I dont want to get banned. If I was a fanbois I might tempt it but as a critic you cant confirm anything. Even though they claim its OK to say of your in beta they pick and choose who they want to let speak. So I go by what I know and even then I try to keep opinion out of it. I might speculate and make conjecture but it generally has some foundation.
I've seen some threads and comments on various websites that the Imperial class will be a "timed exclusive", sold for "x" amount of money after launch.
My question is; would Zenimax be allowed to do it? By that I mean, people pre-ordered the Imperial Edition because the advertising and literature of the product state or imply that it's exclusive to the Imperial Edition. Making it accessible afterwards would open them up to all sorts of claims like; false advertising because no where does it say it is a timed exclusive or that it will be available after the game launch. But it does say and imply (both on the official marketing text and via press releases) that it's exclusive to those who pre-order the Imperial Edition.
(I'm viewing this from a legal/moral perspective in the UK and previous occasions where the advertising authority has upheld similar complaints. I've little idea of said authority in any other country).
I was speaking to Kinkerbell and demonstrating that the Imperial CE is indeed content, and is also likely exclusive to the CE. But in regards to your question.. Time will tell. We still don't know if this exclusive content will be the only significant exclusive content. Many of us are hopeful that the overwhelming negative feedback will dissuade them from making similar mistakes in the future. Time will tell. It is entirely possible that they did this just for a cool CE and it will end there. But the warning signs cannot be ignored.
OK, I can accept the fact that you object to the way they have nullified the statements made by Mr Firor. And I would suggest you let them know how you feel. But once you do that you still need to decide... Do you want to play ESO, or Not?
The fact is that no matter how many posts you create. Or how impassioned your pleas for "justice" are. The only persons you truly affect are those who share your opinions (maybe). Those who disagree will still disagree. And you cannot change them. So all that is accomplished is that those of you who are "hating" on Zenimax just stir up each others feelings. And that has the potential to hurt you in the long run. Plus it has relatively little potential to hurt Zenimax.
Is that really what you want to do? Stir up so much hate for Zenimax that it makes you sick (and then blame Zenimax of course). Or are you going to decide take some other action? Because, if you can't tell already, what you're doing now isn't doing much good.
With that I rest my case. Because those who are doing as I've described are probably already so worked up that they can't even comprehend what I'm trying to say... So I should stop wasting my time trying to reason with them.
Didn't we see people at some point say "I would gladly pay extra to play an Imperial," or "I would pay to be able to play as any race in any faction."?
they may have just been saying it to show how important those things were to them, but meant sort of tongue-in-cheek, but all it takes is some overzealous marketing guy to read that and start twirling his moustache and thinking, if one person is willing to pay extra for x or y, then there are others who are probably willing to do so. Every extra sale we make is money in the bank! Yeehaw!
The people I blame more than the suits and the marketing departments they listen to are the consumers who buy into obvious cash grabs and create the precedent for more cash grabs.
Right now I am looking at this game and thinking "Hell No!"
For those of you who have followed my posts, you know that I predicted this sort of thing. Next thing to happen is for the game to end up announcing Free to Play before it celebrates its first anniversary.
I am not going to buy the CE. I am not going to pre-order. IF I buy the regular version of the game at all at this point, I will NOT spend a dime in the cash shop for anything. And if they do not release content every 4-6 weeks like they PROMISED, (and after the backpedaling they have done with things, I have a strong feeling that we won't see new content patches any sooner than five weeks apart at minimum). they will not get my subscription money either.
I know the feeling, but we need to tell ZMI / ZOS what we the fans think about their actions.
