Imperial Editon Pre-Order Bonuses [merged]

Post » Sat Feb 01, 2014 3:14 am

The thing is julio if this does in fact happen as a result and they have pushed away a number of former supporters, simply making the Imperial race available to everyone will not bring them back. This will also piss off the people who paid special for additional content on top of the sub fee, the people who were svckers enough to pay from something that should be available will be mad.

as I already stated this sets a bad precedent and basically sets the game up for failure.

A petition to add a quest to "unlock" the explorer pack isnt impossible.

Btw this has nothing to do with the Imperial Edition.

The standard preorder gives you access to the same feature (the explorer pack).

its a ploy to spend an extra 20 bucks. but its still not as bad as TOR CE 150 $ for a statue and special vendors . But on the whole its pretty standard i would have bought purely on the Early access.

Please show me the last game that had a $60 box fee and a $15 subs fee that locked a race into its collectors edition.

The prices mentioned can be higher, of course, but not lower.

I really want to know who the "suit man" at Zenimax Media is that takes care of where money will come from most advantageous, i also work my ass off studying economy and when it comes to this, a few extra 20$ and good pie of players who see now this game as P2W with subscription like i do go away that would have bought the game for 60$ and given you a sub of 15$ a month for a few years if you invested that wisely it's just pure and plain obvious the fact that that man who made this decision never played a game and all he knows is just following the by-the-book-rigid-pattern that successful business except for a few corporations work around. Today in economy you adapt or you die, stand by the book like a dog by the empty bone and you shall wither.

I will still stand by my idea "TESO is a project just to chug a bunch of money fast in Zenimax Media's pocket and NOT an MMO or ESO game made with passion, if they are so scared like little kids they won't recover the candy they invested, they should have not made it in the first place."

Because we are already paying for it via the sub fee. It is called double dipping.

It like a handyman that works on your house -- he charges $100's upfront, then he charges extra for every nail that uses, every hole in the wall. On top of that, he charges you upfront fee again.

Yup, it's why I laught on all these whiny gamer made videos..

On the point though, I believe the preorder race - fanction lift is not gonna cause that much damage. A small percentage is going to pre-order, and not everyone that pre orders will join a different alliance for his race.

My main issue is that if they start like this, we are gonna see cash shops and stuff on the game as well...

This does not make much sense, at lest if you have played the beta.

No we did not get to see the endgame, yes it might svck worse than SWTOR.

problem is that the console version has an decent chance of outselling the pc version by an decent margin because the lack of PS4/ one games and lots of pc mmo.

they release it 2-3 months later, at this time pc gamers are well into the endgame, if the pc gamers are QQ in large numbers the console sale will flop.

yes the pc version should get its first content update before the console version is released.

If they knew the game svcked their solution would be to delay the pc release.

NDA for closed beta is standard for any MMO, no it has not been enforced so much, manly as many previous games under beta had huge player driven forums.

As Tamriel foundry relies on ZOS for information they tend to enforce the NDA.

I have an far more plausible explanation. They did not plan to include the imperials in the beginning, yes it was some demand for it but most bought the reasoning.

Then they started thinking of collector edition they had the usual, mount, costume and pet but they felt it was to little.

Somebody get an bright idea, it would be simple to add an imperial race, they have the model and most of the armor, and it would be something special.

Yes somebody might ague against, but this was group thinking an the consensus was, without the CE none will get the imperial anyway.

It sounds far more plausible than any deep dark conspiracy, just simple stupidity because of group thinking.

Yes I complain a lot, mostly as if they get away with it they might try more.

They might get $20 dollars out of people now, but if they keep charging for core aspects that are cover under the sub fee, people will leave (thus no money from sub fee). They will vote with their wallets. May be not now, there is still hope, but if ZMI stays on this dark path - that will happen, people leaving even ESO is an awesome game. (It is an awesome game! :D )

I pre-ordered the disk CE just to get the Molag Bal statue. I don't intend to play in Imperial. I'm more of a dark elf type.

I'm very hyped for this game. Can't Wait!

I wonder what their marketing budget is? How much it cost to make that trailer from yesterday?

I weigh that up against how much the ill will from this move might ultimately cost them in terms of players who will just now turn away and never log in? They could have got players into the game and then released the imperial race as a paid item later and it would not have caused anywhere near so much fuss or potential loss of revenue streams (players subs).

Might not have been the best planned of business moves, aside from all the other reasons it has upset people.

I don't know that it will cost them many players but I think we can assume it will cost them some.

People are sick and tired of getting nickel and dimed in cash shops, so called F2P games, and money locked content. This game was being held high as a beacon of light representing an old school mentality. That is what attracted so many people. So it's because of that self imposed higher standard that there is such an outrage. Many people were looking/expecting this game to be different. So it's even worse. They will make plenty of money. But they could have made oh-so-much more if they would have stuck to their guns. That is why this was a bad business decision.

I cant confirm or deny. I just know I have watched a lot of stuff about this game on you tube. But OPINIONS are meaningless. You know every game that has come out and failed was once defended to the death by people in forums BEFORE they launched right? And also DURING betas, and even after release. SO Opinions are meaningless because theyre based on a persons inability to separate reality from what they see or how they justify things they dont. Thinking that somewhere some how it will get to the point of what they really want to see.

Yeah NDA is standard, but if you look at the history of ANY AAA MMO the time frame for the NDA being dropped is 8 weeks to 6+ months from release. I also cant off the top of my head think of a single MMO AAA or otherwise who offered pre orders while still in closed beta and still under an NDA. I am sure any list you come up with will be filled with successes But anxiously await one anyway. But when companies 'feed' info to fan sites or 'official' outlets they tend to control the information. There isnt any ability to discuss it openly. If this CE issue were under an NDA how much different would it be? It would be all one way and no one could give any negative feed back or opinions because they wouldnt be allowed to.

Also if you think they just created a race out of thin air and didnt have this plan in mind all along you really are naive. Which is OK. Thats what they want everyone to believe. Zenimax played people like a fiddle. They feigned not having the race, they let a public outcry ensue, and now in dawn of the game being released they magically have it put in "because the players wanted it and Zenimax listened". So Zenimax is a hero? LMAO. But yes they want everyone to think this and a lot of people do. You surely do and youre using it as a reason to defend them.

Look I have said it before. It is a hell of a lot easier to con someone than it is to convince them they have been conned.

Whether that is a 'con' is debateable but they surely used it to create a fire storm and then make 20 extra bux off a lot of people by offering it. It doent matter how many people bought it for the sole reason of it including the Imperial race, the fact is it does, and not everyone who plays the game will have access to it. Or maybe they will but I am sure it will cost extra. Which is another issue.

If they had the race all along just reveal it as a 'shocker' a couple weeks before release. Let EVERYONE play it from jump street and build some good will. No instead they dont say anything and just let it get leaked the day before the official release that hey guess what we listened and we do have Imperials in the game but to get one (at least now) you have to order the CE which oh by the way costs 20 bux more. Which has caused anything but goodwill.

I know they have never made an MMO before but I am sure they have seen a few. CEs and the swag they contain is pretty standard. A beginner mount, slower than most in game mounts, maybe some beginner jewelry piece, maybe a title, maybe a cosmetic outfit, or one people love the most, an extra large bag to carry stuff in. They do not and should not contain a playable race. Especially in a subscription based game. I know this 100% of the people who pre ordered a CE would have used a 30 slot bag and the mount. We dont know how many will use the Imperial. Less than 100% I would imagine. So right there you have a reason NOT to include it when youre in the decision making phase. I can guarantee that if they had listed everything they did minus the Imperial race but included a 30 slot bag there wouldnt have been a whimper. BUT then again a 30 slot bag might not have gotten some of those people who dont like the subscription model to buy the CE. People can say what they want but theyre hoping people think theyre getting more than they probably are. The sheer lack of any information about it makes that abundantly clear.

When they made the decision to have a sub model the outcry was big but not nearly as big as this one has been, and they were out the next day explain why they did it. This CE fiasco is 3 days old now and not a single peep from them defending it or explaining it. Simple reason, theyre too busy counting the money. So they dont care.

Very likely the truth. We'll see how it unfolds, and I'll certainly be keeping an eye out.

That said, if I'm still going to be playing at launch, and want to help make sure it's as clear as possible where my complaints and the complaints of my friends are, and how that impacts our likelihood of maintaining a sub.

An exclusive collection (meaning imperial, mudcrab, rings, etc. all together), not exclusive content.

It will be far better to have extra char slots or a bigger bag then a whole race as a part of CE. There will be a back lash with that also, but there is always a back lash when a company does something. Now they they a Hades firestorm and loss a lot of good will and faith in the bed rock of their MMO -- the hard core fans. The based can only take so much before the building (MMO) will fail and crashed down to the earth in pile of rubble. The base is weaken because a move like this and it is really cracked up now.

I still have Hope and faith in ZOS and ESO, but time will tell. At the same time it wrong for them to double dip and charge extra for a core race that should be included in the sub fee. If they keep this up, it just will push me and a lot of others out of their front door.

Either way, it is a pay gate. They said there will not be a pay gate, thus that is why they went to the sub model in the 1st place.

Well, at least by now, wiz12268 is right in most of what he says. And I think I've never seen so much bad press and bad opinions about a game before release. And NO, I'm not a hater. YES, I will play the game and I tested the beta and I was happy enough to buy it. And NO, I don't buy the imperial edition. As i stated so many times, I think it is a BAD AND WRONG move by ZoS. They have just destroyed all the good faith people had in them. And it's true, you can read it everywhere. I'm sick of seeing people saying bad things about this game. Because I liked the beta and I wanna play it for years. And this is coming from a hardcoe TES fan and not very fan of mmorpgs.

I 100% agree with you.

Because of this option faction balance is also in risk.

Lore wise it doesn't even fit in.

And Game design almost lazy, it feels like they just want people to pre order this game because they want goldzz.

So far i still havent heard a update about this from zenimax or any other players what the reason truly are.

So far i know no other MMO as done this. And who knows what the skills are of the extra race... maybe they get 20% more chance to be the emperor.

I already decide to not play this game, i have played beta ( and i understand it's not the finished product) And i truly don't want two subs each months, i intend to play wod.

What part of the word content is it that you aren't seeing? ......an exclusive collection of digital content.

Now you guys have resorted to telling the game developers what does and does not qualify as content in their own game?

If those features aren't eventually available via in game or through the shop, then yes that is sad.

Otherwise, it's just called life.
