June 4, 1pm PST - G4TV shows the first-ever live demo for Di

Also what is that on the bottom left?
Off of memory, I think it may be a stance indicator, like in CoD. In time, if there is a mod kit, I'm sure there will be mods for less invasive HUDs

I've read that the each HUD can be hidden for your preference, in a preview article on somewhere.

i belive it stated that parts of the hud elements could be toggled on and off, but not the whole hud.

I could be wrong though.

On/off for each HUD element is really cool, but what if you still want/need to have the elements in view, but feel uncomfortable because of the size and "presence" of the HUD elements (large and colorful)? As said, I'd like to scale them down (each HUD element individually, if possible) to make them fit as I need. Maybe changing the transparency level, too? What if you can just drag and drop HUD elements to place them where you want?

I haven't played much CoD, but that seems a kind of useless to me.

Yeah, it is. It says whether you're standing, crouching, or prone

Again, not a problem if there are mod tools

Depends on what it means. Maybe it indicating that is something very useful while you're free runing. It might be an indicator of low or high profile. And it can probably be removed so no worries. I don't see any problem with it. I like how everyone is nit picking on the HUD. It can be toggled on and off and probably customize to your liking. Just be happy the game is going this well. And besides, almost none of you are not gonna notice it after 3 minutes into the game.

Tomorrow, we nit pick on the button layout!

That probably won't happen.

Wow, when I first heard about this game I thought it sounded interesting so I decided to keep a lookout for more information, but I did not expect it to look this good. I am so excited for this game now, it looks amazing, can't wait for more footage.

I am not saying don't hate on it. It think it's fine. It doesn't get in the way and I am not designing the game so I don't get to choose it's style and anything about it at all. I just see it as meaningless when there is a quick fix and most people will get used to it pretty fast.

Well we have to complain about something. The rest of the game is just too good!

Why don't the guards have Blink? Corvo is just bullying them, the big meanie! But yes like I said three times already, I am in love with the game!

Tomorrow we get two gameplay demos. It was obvious that they would show The Golden Cat first since it has been prepared for previewers to try it out in the past. From the footage we saw on gamespot's interview, I must say I am really liking the world and the level design.

That would be OP! And programming in the logic of when to use it might be hard. They might spam it while two feet away from you!

Very thiefy indeed. I'm sure the core gameplay will be excellent.... but...
Am I the only one who's worried about the missing player character's legs/body, casted shadow, animations when mantling and when opening doors or turning wheels ?

Morgan: "Because it's just amazing to me because I feel like if you could possess animals to go wherever you want, doesn't that break the game?"

Raphael: "That's the point."

LOL. Can't wait for this game.

Yep. I know they made a conscious decision not to have visible legs, but why is Corvo holding his hands in front of his face all the time? Even when running, jumping and climbing? This classic FPS hand position kind of looks dated, as far as I remember even Thief didn't use it. And what's the point in showing his empty left hand all the time, is there some visual representation of what power is selected? Even more so with the right - it's not like you have any other weapons except the sword for your right hand, right? I'm not saying it breaks the game or anything, but it detracts from the immersiveness everyone is trying to emphasize.

The hands are an indicator of what you have equiped. And in Thief when you selencted a weapon your right and sometimes left hand was visible. I really don't see how seeing your arms is distracting you from the immersion. It's a personal prefrence thing in this case but the arms are done really well. The animations and the dual-wield is really good and I like them a lot.

I think that you'd like if it was the same as Thief, am I reading that right? I guess it could be done but keep in mind that Thief is a slow game. You can playtrough a level without using any equipment whatsoever (well some of them, not all). Dishonored is much faster and shows after awhile what a role the arms play.

And I really don't think that it looks dated. If people don't like them that much I guess there could be an option not to show them. It's personal prefrence after all. This actually brings up a point I wanted to discuss before. Developers really need to put console usage in more PC games and yes more modding tools. But Dishonored really doesn't need it. I am still in awe at how well it's holding up. And like I said before these little nit picks won't ruin your experience of the game.

Yeah, but in Thief you didn't have your sword drawn all the time, and it's not like there are any other melee weapons, AFAIK. I don't think it would be very hard to make Corvo lower his weapons (except, of course the crossbow and the pistol) if there are no enemies in direct line of sight within x (20?) meters and to add some hand animations for running and jumping. Everybody keeps saying that first person games are superior because you actually are the character, well then, why the hell are you holding your hand is front of your face all the time, even when telepathically opening doors?

Like I said, I'm not going to lose sleep over it, especially since it's common in FP games, but the game would look much more polished if there were some hand animations.

Something people don't seem to get about first person games is that you don't see what the character sees with 100% accuracy. If that was true we'd all have a lower field of view and we couldn't see past a certain distance. That would break the gameplay and the level design. Corvo's hands aren't in front of his face. They are somewhere between his chest and the stomach area. Just because we see them that way doesn't mean they are actually like this.

Like I said in the previous post it's a personal prefrence thing. Don't get too hung up over it because you'll play the game and once you immerse yourself in the experience you won't bother to care about the arms.

The times are PST and I believe it's 8 hours ahead in the UK. So that would be 10:25.
