[Relz] Kragenir's Death Quest 2.01 (Thread 9)

Post » Fri Apr 29, 2011 11:12 am

Thanks for the heads up. I would never have found them; almost didn't anyway :P

I was in the wrong cell totally. When I first got the quest update,I've found the mages such and such I should check for the Aloewere; I had just past the bandit camp on the other side of the road, where the Ayelid ruin is. I came from the farm where the quest "the deep one" can be found in vanilla oblivion, so that's the side I was looking on mostly. Now I have found them and there was no more quest update after I picked the aloewere, so I guess I could have added them. I know how hard it is to find people sometimes - think I spent hours and hours in an other mod years ago trying to find a dead knight.

Aha, so it was a major undertaking checking for dead quest breakers. Hmm, should be a way to end quests that get stuck in some way - I have no idea at the moment how to implement that, it would probably be as much work as checking for live NPC's anyway, LoL.

Thanks again - I am now off to hunt for onions....

Edit: found it. Doesn't seem to be a journal update when you enter the inn, but you get one when you find the note. Completed the quest and I must say, povuholo, you are truly bent :) Ok, I think I can see what I'm in for ;)

Well hopefully you'll find the other quests a little easier. :)

Oh, it turns out I was on the right track. Don't know how I missed the note the first time... When I say you are truly bent - it's a complement - I mean I love your sense of humour :) Thought I would clarify since that's a bit of English slang that you may not be familiar with!

Alright. :D

It's mostly Malchik who is truly bent, he wrote most of the dialogue and quests. And he's from England, so don't be surprised to see the occassional English slang or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wee_Willie_Winkie.

Oh no... Thanks for the warning :) That explains everything though - my husband is English ;)

Found one little annoying glitch: my map markers are reverting to "unvisited" when you mark the locations on my map. I believe your guide or readme indicates that the map marker will be added but will show up unexplored "provided you have not been to that location before". Well I have been to these locations and often use them to fast travel, so this is a little bit annoying :) Would you mind having a look and see if there's anything you can do? I'm using Map Marker Overhaul, but I don't think that is effecting this.

Strange, that shouldn't happen. I've never seen it happen in my game. I didn't know it was even possible. :P

I'll see if Map Marker Overhaul might have something to do with it after all but I don't see why.

You people never cease to surprise me with weird bugs. :P

The main one I noticed was Gottlesfont Priory. I had visited that area before because it is a big source of Lady's Mantle. I had also cleared the nearby dungeon, although I notice that that icon has disappeared too - so the problem may be MMO and not your mod at all :whistling:

Fort Strand is also now marked as unexplored but I did Maeva's quest (When the Vow Breaks) earlier in the game. Does your mod do anything with that location? I've only done a couple of the side quests (Lee Lines, Do You Need Stories?, Visible Problems) and have just started the Seven Colours of the Rainbow. I also have gotten the One Ring quest but haven't started it yet.

There was an upgrade to MMO that I have installed while playing this game, so it's possible that the upgrade disabled or removed some of the map markers. Then your quest came along and added them again and now I've noticed that they are unexplored, which they should be if this is the case. If you wouldn't mind having a look and see if you can spot anything, I'd appreciate it. I'll keep on eye on the markers and see if the problem continues. I'll also post something on the MMO thread too.

Mama Cass?! You added Mama Cass? Shouldn't she be heavier? :) When am I going to see Peter, Paul or Mary? ;)

I'll have a look later on, but I can already tell you that we've done nothing with Fort Strand so anything happening to that map marker has nothing to do with KDQ.

Thanks Pov - that helps. I did post a note in the MMO thread. The only comments I've seen in there are about the commands you need to use if you want to add custom map markers in your mod (not yours specifically, I mean in general). However I don't think the markers you are adding are custom, so it doesn't look like you need to do anything special. I'll see what TheNiceOne has to say...

All right...I've run into a spot of trouble with the "Missing Mounts" quest: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Humilis_Nonius has gone totally walkabout. I'm at the point in the quest where Petrine tells me to talk to him, but he's nowhere to be found around the stables. He doesn't even show like he's supposed to if I buy a horse.

I've tried prid / moveto player in the console, and even then he still doesn't show (I tried enabling him, then resurrecting, just in case he'd gotten himself killed somehow, and still no go). Trying to move my character to him doesn't do anything, either. There's no quest marker pointing to him, and the last update in my journal says:

Spoiler
"I am to investigate the disappearance of the horses. I should start with the owners of the Bruma stables, one of them is called Petrine."

So, erm...what do I do now?

Edit: Never mind. Forgot about the NPCFix script. That did it.

I can't find the Serpent Paper in

Spoiler
Grayrock Cave.

I've searched all over the place (twice) but no luck. Help?

Also: Is "A Dyeing Wish" the same quest as "Red Queen"? The spoiler doc lists the first but not the second; it appears as Red Queen in game. If it's not the same, where do you get it?

Regarding the issue I posted earlier about map markers: it appears it was just a glitch when I upgraded MMO during my game. TheNiceOne isn't sure how this could even happen, so we think it was just a save game glitch or something. I will continue to monitor and if it happens again, then maybe there is a problem, but at this point we think everything is fine. I confirmed with TheNiceOne that you don't have to do anything special when you add map markers, so no worries there. I'll make sure all my current markers are updated as explored, so if something gets flipped to unexplored, I'll know :)

It restores the NPC's that KDQ requires if they have been killed. I'd only run it if someone you are looking for seems to be dead or missing. It will only restore NPC's that have been killed and this is run when you first activate the mod.

You can run by opening the console and typing:

startquest PovNPCFix

Pov has some instructions at the top of his quest guide that's included with the mod. Rather than using placeatme as Pov suggests in his guide, I'd try prid and then moveto to see if you can find the NPC. I've had NPC's "disappear" but I've been able to retrieve them and move them to my PC's position without spawning another copy. I can post the instructions for doing that if you need them.

Povuholo, does KDQ alter the PC's attributes? If it does, could you please display a message and write something to the journal when it does? I've discovered that some of my attributes have been changed. There are a lot of game bugs that can cause this to happen, so I posted a note about it on the forums. After getting some replies, it doesn't appear to be the usual kind of issue that arises, so I think that it's KDQ that has done this. I did see one journal entry reporting that my luck was decreased by 2 for not helping some NPC's in a quest. However I've also had my intelligence decrease by 1 and my endurance and personality increase by 2. I don't have any active effects that would cause this. I've also gone through the usual healing routine and have even tried the attribute restoration option in the UOP. The UOP doesn't think anything is wrong.

So, if it's KDQ that does this, I'd appreciate some messages and journal entries so the player knows. There are too many issues with damaged or messed up stats and attributes to be doing this without telling anybody :) I didn't see anything about this in the readme either - perhaps a note in there would help as well. I actually don't like KDQ messing with my attributes this way if it's KDQ that's doing it :)

It should appear in the journal entry but in this case you orobably got it for escorting Cantor Excrusius to the King & Queen Tavern without getting a real reward. Still, that one is easy to miss, so I should probably add a messagebox pop up as well.

These moments where attributes are changed are few though.

I would never look at my journal for a completed quest. The only way I even found the one about the luck penalty was because that occurred during an active quest and I had looked at my journal to find out where to go next. I just looked through the completed quests and I got +2 to personality for completing Lee Lines. I still don't know what boosted my endurance by 2 points or what decreased my intelligence by 1.

I think you should display a message on-screen when this happens. Not a messagebox, just the 5 or 10 second message that displays near the top of the screen. Following it up with a journal update would allow the player to look it up if they didn't catch the entire message.

Edit: the endurance increase and intelligence decrease were also the result of KDQ quests  I loaded KDQ up in the CS and found them.

Hello, I am doing the Just Desserts quest and I am trying to find the note in one of the IC's watch-towers. I've combed every single one and couldn't find it.

Can anyone tell me where it is.

Hi there, I came across a new quest no markers or any text, just a letter R4 Challenge List, what's that all about. Must I just go through all the forts? Can anyone help.

Suggestion for the Red Queen quest:

Spoiler
Since Oriflamme Dye is illegal and you have to break into the shop after hours to talk to Magra gro-Naybek, could you add an option for paragon characters to opt out of the quest? Say, after you talk to Borba and find out it's illegal, you can have the option of going to Shelley and saying "Sorry, this stuff is illegal and I won't help find it for you." I personally didn't mind the dye, but I hate having to trespass to talk to quest NPCs.

Never heard of that one. Are you sure it's KDQ? What does it say?

One of the guards in the IC that I have talked to, just gave me a note on the challenge, The Red Ring road Ruin challenge, and in it a list of the ruins. It's difficult to read, it's been so difficult to read, the text going so fast. I just got the list. R4 Challenge List. I only have 2 mods on at the moment, KDQ, The steps, and that's that. Some ad on like texture changes.

Get the OBSE plugin http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=16622 (USV) to stop the text going too fast. It is not an KDQ only issue, and USV will help prevent this issue happening to other dialog added by other mods as well. Of course, you'll need to have http://obse.silverlock.org/ to run it.

As for the walktrhough, it is in the KDQ download itself as an html file. Also found separately on the http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=26219 too!

To the person asking for the note location for Just Desserts, I think it can be found in:
Spoiler

the guard tower between Elven Gardens and Temple or Elven Gardens and Talos Plaza - it is very easy to find (and I can't remember if it was in a chest - maybe it was on the table)...

Yeah, what anithinks said. You'll probably have to reload to reread the text, though the journal entry (or that note) should tell you what you have to do...
