[Relz] Kragenir's Death Quest 2.01 (Thread 9)

Post » Fri Apr 29, 2011 9:39 pm

I just wanted to note that, as of this moment, I am L14 and have 50 (!) active quests; fully one-third (17) of them are from KDQ. I've only completed maybe a dozen, and I just got the first dwarf's quest a couple days ago, so I have yet to complete the main quest for the first time. I love this mod. :D

Edit (to save a post): Where's the Akviri artifact in Ft. Istirus? I've been all over that place and didn't find anything, though I did find an artifact added by another mod...

Question on Vamp Rising. Not looking for a cheat or work-around, not unless what I report is abnormal and quest breaking. Prolly just me being my normal confused self and not understanding or overlooking something.

Spoiler
I'm at the point where we have to collect the ... ummm... 3rd? set of objects. The set where one object is at Moths Temple. I got that one fine. It's the other one I'm confused on. The journal clue mentions something about a tough lich in the cave just behind Roxie Inn. Indeed, I get a green quest arrow-marker at the cave entrance. Only, as I approach the cave the marker vanishes. I saw nothing obvious near the door so assumed the object in question was on a lich somewhere inside. I cleared out the cave, including killing two liches in the "room" furthest back into the caves. Neither carried a special object. Nor did I notice any special objects lying nearby.

Don't know if it matters, but I had already cleaned out the cave once, for the official Roxie vanilla cave quest.

Oh, upon leaving the cave and heading for the Inn, the green marker returns, but again vanishes when if I again attempt the cave.

Gonna try again and see if maybe I just overlooked some weapon that dropped during those final battles.

I'm not normally one to "bump" a post, but wanna make sure I didn't slip through the cracks. Only thing I have to add is that this phase of the quest has several journal entries that mention seeing if certain NPCs need assistance "if I haven't already done so". In every case I have indeed already aided them. They offered no new dialog options. At least I didn't notice any. I still hope I'm just overlooking something obviously.

Someone mentioned a few posts above that the artifiact was outside (near the fort) on some dead body (I haven't doen this quest yet) - but read a few posts above where povuholo was discussing this with someone...

No, no, that's the bitter aloes for Running Wild. There's another quest (Akaviri Obsession) that says there's an artifact IN Ft. Istirus somewhere.

Where can I find the walkthroug for KDQ? I heard something about a walkthrough. If I a mistaken, sorry.

It's in the 'Quest Information and Walkthroughs' folder inside the main download, and it's also available on the Nexus download page under
Optional files.

Spoiler
Third level (Fort Istirus Barracks), on a bloody stone slab with a dead zombie on it. It's lying next to the zombie.

KDQ adds a new lich to the cave, but it's name is just 'Lich'. He has the robe in his inventory. He's in a different room of the cave than the necromancer from the Roxey Inn quest. This is a cave room behind a closed door, with a bed in the room. Next to the bed is a copy of 'The Book of Daedra'. That's the room.

Also: Is "A Dyeing Wish" the same quest as "Red Queen"? The spoiler doc lists the first but not the second; it appears as Red Queen in game. If it's not the same, where do you get it?

Same thing yes, my mistake.

I can't find the Serpent Paper in

Spoiler
Grayrock Cave.

Spoiler
It's on the second level of the cave (Grayrock Shambles), on top of a chest in a small messy cave dead end with some dead skeletons and furniture that has fallen over.

Hello, I am doing the Just Desserts quest and I am trying to find the note in one of the IC's watch-towers. I've combed every single one and couldn't find it.

Can anyone tell me where it is.

It's in the North Watch Tower (Cell ID: ICImperialLegionWatchTowerN). As you enter it through the door, there's a table with some beers on it to your right. The letter is on there.

Happy birthday Kragenir's Death Quest! :celebration:

It is October, which means that it is 4 years ago that this project was first started! :nuke:

Found it - thanks. I'm not sure how I missed it the first time.

Hmm. I can't find that one. I found the room in question, and I searched all over it (even checked IN the chests and the skeletons), but no note. Just to be thorough, I used TCL to see if it might have fallen through the floor or behind the chest by the wall, but no luck.

You know, I might have found it already... is it #3? I think I found one or two before I got the Spoon, but when I approached the cave after getting the spoon, it alerted me to the cave being one place I can find a chapter. I wonder if you could add in a script that checks to see if you've already found Chapter XXX before you get the Spoon...

Shouldn't the birthday be based on the day it's released?

Probably. It's the project itself is 4 years old now. (And birthmonth would be more accurate, since I don't remember the exact day :P)

I checked, and yes, it's #3. It shouldnt be difficult for me to alter the spoon script to take that into account.

Hmm. I checked, and I don't have #3. I scoured the cave again, but it's simply not there. I also can't find Doc's note in the dwarves' house, which is supposed to be on the table. It's nowhere in the room. :( Fortunately, I can just console unlock the trap door, but doing that doesn't advance the quest stage, so I had to do it again to bypass Grumpy (who refused to talk to me).

I'm having some trouble with the "Death and the Maiden" quest
Spoiler
right at the end when I go to confront Ocato, he wont talk to me he just tells me to fill out a form or something of the like

What should I do? Just wait till I'm at a part in the main quest where I get to talk to him? Thats going to be a looong time in the future I think.
I've had a few problems in a number of quests when the person was not where they are suposed to be, and had to use the console to advance the quest after re-doing the quest several time with the same outcome. Funny thing is that I sometimes came across them before I was doing the quest that they are a part of, for example her outside the mine, she was there before when I went to the cottage but had dissapeared when I was to meet her there, so I made a copy and when I went into the mine there was two of her  I had to dissabled one of them it would have been weird with two of them, and I did try just entering first but I was all alone.
Spoiler
And Leshob was AWOL in the ruin no matter what I tried

There was a few others but i can't remember who they are now - its been a while since I've done some of them - sorry.

I did.
Spoiler
I looked on the table, around the table, under the table, and then checked the rest of the room just to be thorough.

It's a moot point now - like I said, I just console unlocked the door. I'm working on Bashful's quest now. :)

Congratulations Kragnirs quest :celebration:

Some info on me playing the quest Ley Lines:
Spoiler
For some reason I never got more quest updates or dialog in Pells gate than "it's east of Nornalhost" and the bit about "Cuellete and, eh, that cave". So I missed the third telling me about the inn of ill omen.
There were four alive in Pells gate, somehow the dialog for the last quest update was missing for me.
But I went to ill omen and read the Letter. Then, when checking around in the Basemant I couldn't find the key because the container was a covered barrel from Harverst containers and I had set them not to open. So I only saw the key when I togged on wireframe.
So if the barrel isn't the open sort in vanilla you might wanna check that?

Also I hope that
Spoiler
The quest for the Orc social club will update when I bring the face stuff to Skingrad. There where no more dialog concerning this with C. at the Pells gate inn after I finished Ley Lines.

Cheers!

I'm on the color violet. I have all four ingredients, but Ilp says I need to find the two books. It may be a conflict of some kind. I even tried dropping the two books and then picking them up again. Ilp still doesn't see them in my inventory.

Right. Finally I got far enough in the quest POVssSkingrad3.
Same here. Unbelievable that tracking a few orc's should tax the system so much.
I could not sleep, the timer crept forward and the following loading screen would never finish.

So I coc around Cyrodiil finding the svckers. Now with only two left it runs fine again.

Some funny pointers on the quest targets too. Could been an engine bug or maybe some mod interaction (although I fail to see how...)

Tell me if you want to know more. Guess you will have to redesign the last part. Maybe a script that only points one marker in the right towns, and when you enter activates a specific quest for that town with those quest targets - or something like that.

Also out of curiosity, why does it cripple the system? The game is tracking thousands of things.

Cheerio!

I ended up removing KDQ from that load order, clean saving and then re-activating. I restarted the MQ and got all the way through to finding Querulus Mona, at which point I was starting to fall asleep at the keyboard. I suspect the AI went wonky on me because I left that quest open for a really long time just haning while doing other things. I have lots of other quests running.

Oho!

Assuming this refers to the quest I think it does, those pointers affected you even worse than me. Then again, soon as I discovered how badly the game stuttered with that quest-phase active in my journal I simply made another quest active, only returning to the offending quest entry for brief periods when I needed to get my bearing on the various needed NPCs. The quest itself works fine... no issues at all so long as its journal entry isn't active.

I had to crack open the CS to find those notes (both of them), but they do show up. I hate the vanilla note model - it's so tiny and hard to see. :( I would suggest replacing them with scrolls, but they *are* notes/pages... *shrug*

Yeah - I read an other thread about stuttering after posting that an saw the simple solution :)
Makes one wonder why it has such an impact though.

@Pov: Everything worked fine otherwise with that quest. Onwards to new quest goals! :hehe:

I too am having a problem with locating the
Spoiler
Serpent Project Chapter in Haynote Cave - I saw the earlier discussion in this thead about the chapter being inside the Haynote Sump in a square room with water int he middle - could be the first or the last room depending on where you enter. I located the said room, but I can't find the chapter there. There is 1 chest out int he open, but nothing on/near/around it. There are 2 chess inside the water pool, but again nothing on/near/around it.

I was able to locate the FormID for the said chapter in TES4Edit (it is 6E078469). Is it OK to use console command "player.additem 6E078469 1" to obtain the said item in my inventory, and hopefully this will also move the quest forward?

Does anyone see any issues with this?

Shouldn't be any problem - it works for various vanilla quests. Most quest scripts check to see if you have the item; if "yes", then the quest advances/completes.
