How many trees can i master in?
As many as you want as long as you can get level up your character's main level.[only 1 perk point per character level].
The estimated max perk points you can get is 70.

Does anybody know if Quick Reflexes in the Blocking tree require a shield? The others state, "Blocking with a shield [...]" except for that one, so...

If you go past the intended level range of 50 and hit 70 yeah that is doable but barely. If you are willing to skip a perk or 3 in each tree you can also solidly fill out a 6th skill.

Im guessing/hoping that the perks that do not specifically say "shield" apply to any weapon style that can block. I know I have seen videos of bashing with just a single one handed weapon.

I wish there were more 'speech' speech perks. It seems like most of them are mercantile. I was holding out an outside hope that speech/negotiation based characters would be viable.

No more like in one handed do you have to master all 3 weapons or just the sword, do you intend to wear heavy armor or light armor? you don't need perks to make both types in smithing etc.

I'm a Skyrim noob

I only want to make the dragon armor, enchant it, and kick some dragon butt... that's all.

Yeah I wanted a persuade hostiles option, so you might be able to talk down a bandit from attacking you.

Same here, wanted this bad. At least the bandits sometimes warn you to stay back rather than getting all bloodthirsty this time

Bumped. There are several threads about character creation popping up. This should help the majority of them.

I've seen some people with character builds that connect the dagger x15 sneak attack perk to the shadow warrior sneak perk, but there does not seem to be a line connecting them. Are they reading the chart wrong or is the chart wrong? (I don't even really want to sneak attack perks, I just want the shadow warrior perk without the annoying light step perk...)

I'm pretty sure they're reading it wrong, but what's so bad about the light step perk? I've heard some of the traps can be pretty cheap, getting instantly killed without any chance to react. Not triggering those traps sounds like a plus to me.

It is a plus maybe after they start getting repetitive, but I don't want to be oblivious to them, especially if there are some cool ones. But yeah, I guess I can always make another character and have that one get killed by the traps. I guess im also a little worried that it could drastically change the environment of some quests, but who knows...

Do we know if it's possible to do a power bash without a shield? As in, using a 2h weapon or a 1h weapon with empty off-hand?

It would be weird if a shield perk encouraged you to not use a shield, but I don't know for certain.

Daggers are not in one handed, they are in stealth, as has been stated numerous times already.
So if I pick up a dagger, walk towards a guy, and stab him in the face 30 times while yelling, and then walk around and kill everyone in town with it without sneaking at all, will my Sneak skill go up? Or will no skill go up at all?

I would think my One-Handed skill would increase after all that fighting with, y'know, a one-handed weapon. I guess I must just be crazy ...

They aren't "shield" perks, they are "block" perks, and people who don't use shields still block. It would seem weird to me if the entire block skill was devoted specifically to one method of blocking.

Haha. I'm thinking one handed goes up. I also think that daggers are just not classified as swords, and don't get that bonus. I'm sort of also hoping they don't get the decapitate perk... but who knows...

Could some one confirm something for me?

I'm trying to work out the Smithing skill tree and I'm getting conflicting info.

This shows that Smithing has a total of 10 potential perks one for each armor type,
the UESP however shows that each armor type has 2 perks one for making the armor and one for improving by double.

So which of these is correct the UESP or the other one?

Looks like they combined the improving perks with the "you can now work with X material" perks.

I can't say for sure, but they possibly could have 2 ranks: One for being able to use the material, then get the 2nd rank to be able to improve it.
