Legendary Dragons are...

It's extremely difficult for my pure mage character to fight an ancient dragon, can't wait to discover how horrible legendary dragons are. (900 magicka, 120 health)

? No its not. Just stun lock 'em with dual cast spells like fire bolt continuously. Takes a while but gets job done. Stronger makes can use stronger spells like the master lightning spell or incinerate to make quick work of dragons. Pretty easy for a pure mage actually.

The idea that Legendary Dragons only get on to standard leveled lists at level 78 makes me question whether Bethesda even understands how their own game works. Having Speech, Pickpocket, Lockpicking, and Illusion skills in the 90's is not going to help you fight a dragon. You could max out your combat/crafting skills at level 50-60 if you never picked any locks, picked any pockets, sold any items, or cast a single illusion spell. (The only illusion spell I ever use is muffle for training purposes.) Level 78 does not mean you are finally combat ready for a "LEGENDARY" dragon, it just means you're a maniac who power-leveled a lot of useless skills to fill out your perk tree.

Nothing wrong with that since u get more health magica or stamina. You ARE combat ready for a Legendary dragon at 78. Considering that your stats r huge at that point, and should have top notch armor and enchantments by then. Nothing wrong with power leveling.

Nothing wrong with it, except it is quite tedious.

Indeed. VERY time consuming. Worth it though.

You are combat ready by level 50, if you ask me, since I've seen people kill Legendary Dragons at level 50. Heck, I killed one with my level 50 char.

I never saw one till level 73 ish. That wasnt the point of the posts though. But if we go to that, I play on master, so I dont know if a level 50 can beat a legendary dragon on master. If u play on adept, your combat ready for EVERYTHING by like 25.

Amazing and Annoying I am lvl 81 and I had to fight a Legendary dragon, and Blood dragon at the same time. I think that must be a bug because you shouldn't have to fight more than one dragon at the same time.

I got two Ancient Dragons before. I also got a Legendary and an Elder together as well. It is possible.

Had two legendary ones attack b4. One at the dragon mound, and the other was just flying around and decided to join in. Not a glitch, just lucky.

It's confirmed they appear as early as level 50, so you don't need to grind peeps!!
The chances just increase the higher your level is!

The eyes are weird as hell.

But they're not terribly hard. Easy for a max level Nord warrior.

Well, I just got to level 78 after some serious grinding on the magicka stuff, plus a boost from the Oghnum. So I went off to visit dragon lairs. It took 5 lairs to finally find one. As I suspected, nothing special. Maybe a couple more arrows than usual. He never used the drain vitality shout on me. That might have caused a bit of pain. His frost breath may have been a bit stronger than I have seen. I got down to less than half health by the end (health = 520 base + 25 Arkay) Was almost ready to pop a potion when he died.

Personally, I like the Revered dragons better. They have a more distinctive look: kinda squashed looking, but at least you can tell what they are. Plus their coloring is pretty distinctive. So far, the Revered dragons have caused me more problems than this particular Legendary.

Try harder difficulty. Adept is terrible.

Any1 who says they're easy obviously plays on adept or expert, where everything is easy. If u want legendarys to be challenging, play master. Then they actually feel legendary.

I find that a few power strikes with my dual-wielded Dragon Bone Swords takes care of them rather quickly and easily.

jeez, i have no idea how i'd manage to legitimitaly get my character to 81, my closest is 54. Guess i could see if the ognogogphilum is in one of my houses still, could glitch up just to fight one and get that achievement

That was patched ages ago :(

Full perked werewolves have a hard time with Legendary dragons. (it was terrible...)

Full perked Vampire Lords lead to an epic battle worthy of song against them.

In my experience anyway.

They do look cool by the way.

The Oghma glitch still works you just have to do it from your home instead of any random bookshelf.

(I tested it in my whiterun home)

Try harder difficulty. Adept is terrible.

I play at master difficulty with a self-imposed limit of not using any fortify enchanting potions. So my smithing and alchemy gear only gets me to 25% better per piece, or 100% for the set. This gives 100% improve smithing from apparel and 120% improve smithing from potions. I then wear 4 pieces (gauntlets, ring, necklace, helm) of +40% damage bow, for a total of +160%, and 3 pieces (guantlets, boots, necklace) of +40% one-handed, for a total of +120%. Plus, of course, all 5 power perks for both archery and one-handed. I also enchant the weapons with 45 fire and 45 shock damage. (Armor is well above the 567 cap, I use Ancient Falmer. Magic resist is also at the cap of 85%)

As I said, the Legendaries are nothing special so far.

they might be hard for a pure mage but my 2h barbarian warrior killed 4 already without much problem on expert. I'm not a tank either as i only wear 1 piece of armor and thats steel nord gauntlets. I use a upgraded skyforge steel battle axe that does 200 damage.

my strategy is dragonrend them down then bum rush and power attack stagger them...they never leave the ground ;)

Slay it! Slay the dragon! :mage:

I just about died laughing when I read this. Oh god, my first encounter with a Legendary Dragon had me clutching the controller white knuckled, as Lydia is running around shooting arrows willy nilly, yelling "Slay it! Slay the dragon!". As she starts it yelling it the second time in a row, the dragon lands, picks her up in his mouth and tosses her off the cliff. She was still yelling "Slay it!" as she started flying.

Rather amusing. But I generally prefer to see the dragons eating guards rather than my followers. (Not only do I get the cool animation, I also get their shield!)

You might want to consider giving her better equipment, unless, of course, you just wanted her to see her go flying.

She had some of the best gear I've made, Daedric AR 650. But it's that drain vitality shout, it dropped her hp down in a matter of seconds. I've since enchanted all my sets of armor with magic resist. It was pretty funny, of course, climbing down the mountain to find her body wasn't so fun.
