My Little Pony:Its always the stallion's fault...

Probably helps the person get mad and overpower the victim, but I doubt it starts the process. Otherwise the vast majority of us would be serial killers.

Now, if you excuse me, I need to go stalk the streets of London for uhm... beautiful sights.
Childhood trauma and abuse is responsible as well. Most serial killers are sixually motivated, and testosterone is behind it. So lack of self control and sociopathy is responsible a lot of the time along with psychological problems. Not just testosterone

Shouldn't really judge her entirely based off of one comment, though. No matter how disappointing the comment was.

I wasn't serious.
Its hard to convey tones on the interwebs.

I'm glad I turned out relatively normal. My parents were both druggies (meth/crack/etc) who would literally try to kill each other every night. Not to mention their bedroom wasn't all that soundproof in the 1 bedroom apt we had.

Oh well, you can't go backwards, so you might as well go forward.

Cool victim blaming. You should probably try understanding why women have trouble leaving abusive relationships.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battered_person_syndrome
Yeah....knew someone who was in a relationship where this happened to the both of them as they were dating. They'd one would attack the other and vice versa, and all sorts of drama always caused by one or another. Bad thing for me, I was the one who had to try and make sure they'd stop seeing each other, as both of them had some irresistible urge to try and date again.

All but 1 of the girls I've dated in my life, have not admitted to being part of the problem in a sinking relationship. And they know exactly what to say to make it really seem like you are the worst guy on the planet.
(Off-Topic) Am I the only guy who doesn't care about getting laid? I swear I feel like the only one sometimes.
Not really. It's blown up into a big deal by most teens these days.. as you get older you'll want love and companionship more than anything.

People typically go to the girl's side because men are more often terrible people. That's just the way it is. I'm sure it is very upsetting to nice, respectful guys who never do anything wrong and whatever to experience this "discrimination" against their gender, but if you have a problem with it, don't blame the people that assume the guy did something wrong, blame the guys who do something wrong on a regular basis.

There are plenty of girls I know that I wish would stab their boyfriend in the back while he sleeps because he deserves it.
As bad as this sounds, I kinda agree with it. But there are some nasty women out there too that get their kicks out of hurting good men and thus turning those men into bad men. There is a source to everything.

Last thing: There is no superiority over the other.

Uh---if a woman comes at he with a knife with the intent on harming me (chivalry aside) I have my right to defend myself :toughninja: .
I agree. My view on the whole thing is that if someone attacks me he/she becomes an enemy and stops being a guy or a gal. How I would deal with the hostile person depends on the circumstances, of course, but if the opposing combatant happens to have lesser odds of winning the fight due to a weaker physique thanks to her being a girl then well, shame on her for getting into a fight with the odds against her. I was raised with the whole "men are cowards if they hit girls" mentality, but I outgrew it. For the record I do try to live up to some gentleman ideals to some extent, but only when it's due.

And I do agree on the points of the sixes being judged differently overall. Like some story about a woman drugging and tying up her husband only to cut off his manhood and throwing it into the garbage disposal being talked about on some show like "The Talk" and the women there had a laugh about it. There was one girl who brought up how it was a bit sixist since they wouldn't find it as fun if a guy mutilated a woman the same way, and then there was an awkward silence followed by someone putting it off as silly by joking about it. It's true though, a bunch of men having a laugh about a genitally mutilated woman wouldn't get many people to giggle, that's for sure. And the only motivation behind the attack which was mentioned was that he filed for a divorce. And last, I do admit that such shows are usually stupid and shouldn't be taken too seriously but it still demonstrates that the mentality is around.

If repeated cheating, or physical and emotional abuse is the reason why, it seems understandable but not justifiable. Otherwise... you know, it's an extreme thing to claim.

Makes no sense at all, why the hell don't they just leave boyfriends like that?

It has already been explained by the link to the battered person syndrome page. Physically you can just walk out, but mentally there are obstacles not easily overcome. The brain is not a cold and highly efficient computer doing the best thing at all times. An example is how your body can freeze in fear when a bear charges you while the only sensible option would be to flee as fast as you can. Your mind and body works against you at times.

If you think that is bad when I was fairly young one day at school someone punched in me in the head, I didn't do anything about it just went to my next class. Got called out of class to the office where they ended up suspending me "for being involved in a fight".

A lot of schools are rediculous I usually got into less trouble when I started fighting back, got in even less trouble than those times when I started fights. Although it's probable the the schools I went to were just run by sadists.

When it comes to girls beating up on guys women tend to get more leeway on it because most people are not aware how often it actually happens a guy isn't going to announce he got beat up by a female. It's the same reason I wear a pink shirt when I wanna antagonize someone into fighting me, no guy is going to admit he got ruffed up by a guy in a pink shirt because be honest what is the first thing you think of a guy when you see him wearing pink.

Personally I don't think it's right to hit women, if they start a fight with me I just let them wear themselves out. I know how to take a hit so if they're punching me usually they hurt their hand a lot more than they'll hurt me and decide its not worth the effort to continue by the time they get short on breath.

I don't know if its just me, but whenever I hear someone has relationship troubles, everyone automatically goes to the girl's side.

The door swings both ways. It depends on the situation. I hear some girl stabbed her boyfriend? My experience (from where I grew up, and from where I live) is that the boyfriend did bad stuff to the girl -- but the girl isn't innocent herself either. I hear some guy beat up his girlfriend? Every single time I've heard this story, it's happened because the girl stole from the guy, cheated on the guy, or otherwise did something to emasculate him -- and the guy was never a "nice" guy to begin with. (and let me be 100% clear about this: I'm not excusing anybody, nor am I condoning any of that behavior)

You tell me a couple is having relationship troubles, and I'm going to want to know both sides of the story. I don't automatically side with one or the other. Often, I don't end up "picking sides" at all because both parties are in the wrong.

Someone else in this thread made a ridiculous claim that men are "more often" to blame. That's pure BS.

its like that because most kids are stoopid and dumbed, schools aint teachin most kids right. i was in the south too, so me not being white and her being a blonde hair blue eyed white girl diddnt help either.

if i was informed back then i would not have signed anything and i would have told the admin to bite me, but i was dumb, back then, typical stoopid child lol

I'm not trying to totally blaime the victim but there are some women (a very rare low number but still there) that just stay in an abusive relationship that don't suffar from B.P.S (Battered Person Syndrome) cause it beats being single all the time or that's how they "get off". I see it on COPS or talk shows all the time.

:P

what's with the hostility towards the opposite gender??
It's a tried and true fact that throughout history, every single time people have put themselves in brackets hostility is bred towards others in different brackets and likewise those same people will have some hostility against you for being in a different bracket. It doesn't matter how small or unimportant it is, there is nearly always someone who will feel a need to alienate him or herself from someone of a different bracket. You even see this for something as trivial as our hobbies, one team is against another team and suddenly people act like those on the other team grew horns and turned red. I even see this with just games unrelated to each other where there is no competition. D&D player: "Darn Warhammer players are loud and obnoxious". Warhammer player: "Darn D&D players are stuck up and sensitive."

Now those are just minor examples with minor hostility but gender brackets are ones people will automatically fall into and they are of quite some significance so every now and then you will also find someone who goes to significant lengths with his or her hate against the opposite gender.

Even people like me who try never to judge genders as a one whole collective sometimes make minor remarks that brand one gender or the other as being X or Y. But there is nothing really that excuses true hostility towards the other gender as a whole :P you can have a personal gripe against a certain individual of one gender or the other but it's not fair to brand the entire gender based on the actions of one or of the few.

I'm usually on the neutral side of the battle, there's issues with guys about getting layed is top priority to be a MAN, then later the girl he knocked up has HIS child but doesn't want anything to do with it, then their's issues when women go around branding ALL men are the same or I'm always right you're always wrong and stuff like that-that also get my goat.
