My Little Pony: NHL Thread #7

Keith gets 5 games. I think that's the appropriate ban for a first offender with such an outrageous hit. We still don't know what happened to Sedin...so we'll just have to wait.

I also don't like Nashville's chances if Rinne continues to struggle.
Sedin should have got some punishment.

Also this is what I tire of with what's going on with the NHL, Sedin cheapshots Keith driving his shoulder into Keith's head, Keith turns around and gives it back to him.. only Keith gets in trouble. Wut? Anyone wonders why this guy gets crushed? Remember Crosby going around and taking liberties and getting hurt again? Remember retaliations on him for going after the wrong people? I guess not. Skill guys need to stick to skill and not pretend like they're tough or cheap shot artists like Matt Cooke if they can't handle the repercussions of it. Sedin stepped well outside his role on the team by delivering a dumb check going upward with his shoulder into Keith's head, who's surprised Keith gets pissed and gives him the business?

Rightful suspension of Keith given the rules, but way to go NHL in the double standard.

I was surprised Keith got 5 games. I'm not saying he didn't deserve it. I'm just surprised.

The Penguins got hammered by the Senators last night.

Where is the video of the Sedin cheapshot Third Eye? I take your word for it, feeling the way about Sedin as I do, so I'd like to see it.

I agree though with you Third Eye. The Canucks and the Sedins, being some of the NHL's sweethearts got away with a hit that the NHL clearly said they want out of the game. Honestly, I'm not surprised Shanahan has failed already.

^ Yep, Graqes even iterated it on Coach's Corner segment on Keith:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DFt8MT-Nkrc

Slip to 2:47 for the segment, and around 3:25 to 4 minutes or something.

This was Don on Crosby warning him of injury (skip to 1:15):

This was Don again a few weeks later after Crosby got hurt again (skip to 4:55)

Big win last night even if it was against Montreal. Finally got some offense going with 4 goals out of some people that really need to get going. Briere had two goals which are 2 of his 3 in the last 30 games. Pronger was also in attendance, he was watching the game from the booth and got a standing ovation from the crowd.

Wow. Just one more reason to hate the Sedins. I love how they dish it out but cry like babies whenever they have to take it back. Cherry said it right: no excuse for Keith's hit, but Sedin shouldn't be asking for it like he was. That's why they need to drop the gloves themselves and settle it like (dare I say it) North American hockey players?

All I'm saying on this matter, Daniel is paying for it with having an indefinite injury as of now. Most likely miss entire playoffs.

Keith will be back in 5 games, the Hawks will be in the playoffs, it doesn't matter.

Both players acted foolish on the ice. Only one was dumb enough to put his elbow straight in anothers face.

With that said, I'm not worried. Henrik has proven he can play excellent even without his brother. Now we have Raymond and Higgins finally stepping up and delivering. Hopefully Henrik really shines in the post season.

This is http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=7734344 on Alexander Ovechkin done by the four letter network. I recall a year or two ago, someone asked Ovi why he stilled lived with his parents, and his answer was something like, "Who else is going to cook, clean, and do my laundry? Until I have a wife to do that, I'm going to live with my Mom." Awesome.

About Sedin, do we have an certainties on his injuries yet?

Canucks injury report just lists him with upper body injury (indefinite). Everyone is being tight lipped.

Anybody watch college hockey? Boston College is playing Minnesota Duluth about a 5-10 minute drive away from my house where the Worcester Sharks of the AHL play, and it's starting to catch my attention. Winner of this game goes to the Frozen 4.

Yea. Even though I'm not a student there, I like to go to a few UVM games per season They're 10 minutes away from my school. My home is 10 minutes from the Merrimack campus in North Andover, MA, so I like rooting for them too. Since UVM totally svcked this season, however, I haven't watched much. When it comes to the tournament, I root for Hockey East all the way. Unfortunately, I don't get the channel that carries the college games, unless they're on Versus NBC Sports.

Do you get NESN? I'm pretty sure they show games on there every once in a while.

Yea they do, but I don't think they have the rights to the tournament. We're at the Frozen Four now anyway, I assume those will be nationally televized, by NBC Sports or something.

I know I've said it before, but I cannot get over how fluffy the Sedins are and it angers me how many penalties that weakness draws for them.

Anyways, tough loss for L.A. But I don't think its the end of the season for them. 2 big games coming up will be the deciders with San Jose and Calgary this week.

The Sharks have been getting all sorts of help from the Northwest division taking down the Kings and Stars a few notches.

With Phoenix's loss and the Wings blowing the Jackets out (sure as hell have better, and I love seeing Nyquist in the lineup, wish they had kept him up with the team during the season instead of just preseason) they their 21st straight playoff spot, I don't think they're going to catch the Blues, so it seems like the Wings are gonna play the Preds again (who clobbered the Hawks yet again) and it's more a matter of who has home ice.

Wings division looks like this year's black-and-blue once again, the Northwest looks like they're gonna get just their mandatory one playoff team unless Colorado can beat out Phoenix and LA. Besides Columbus, the Avs schedule is not very favourable, and they've played more games than any other team in the league (78/4 games left)

I still have hope for Calgary, as little as it is. I'd way rather see them in the post season than Colorado.

:sadvaultboy:

I don't think the loss last night was as big as everyone says it was though. I mean, they're 1 point back of 7th and 8th, plus they have a game in hand over Phoenix and no one has the games over them. 2 of those games are against Edmonton, one against Minnesota and one is against Calgary, then I believe San Jose is in there as well. /desperatehope

Yea, LA has a much better chance than Colorado. And as much as I'd like to see Calgary get in, they're done too.

Whoops, meant Colorado, sorry LA fans (it was Colorado who has the most games played and 4 left with a tough 3 of 4 mentioned a few posts back which has little hope). Was tired and baby kept me up all night.

And it wasn't even a close one.

And what about the Caps, falling convincingly out of a playoff spot! It's gonna be good watching these last two weeks, to see who squeezes into that last playoff spot in the East.

Also, you saw a pretty good one Spluger. Hope you had a good time, bud.
