it's actually already either crashed or successfully landed thanks to even light (radio) taking a few minutes to go from mars to earth and vice-versa

Starting to land now - they just said the parachute has deployed and it's starting to slow down.

You don't seem to have understood what I said, by the time NASA gets new information it's already outdated due to the communication lag of a few minutes (up to 20 minutes, depending on Mar's position relative to Earth) between Earth and Mars. So while NASA's just getting the parachute deployed information, it's already all completed by now.

Except that they are sending the info at the speed of light, and going faster than that is slightly problematic.

Now all they need to do is send up a second rover clean the lenses on the cameras.

True enough, but who knows what kind of technology we'll have in the future. Of course it's all just speculation
