I got a bit farther today and I found some cool guns but I'm going to stick with the Matlock. Claymore is awesome although I hate the 1 ammo per clip.

One of the new features that I love in ME3 is the Shooting range, that has been a godsend in determining what Weapons I should use. The Blasto movie is awesome too or should I say, it's Badassfully.

I kind of stunted myself when I started using the Chakram Launcher. I just keep ugrading it and its mods. Nothing can compare to shooting a chakram into the chest of an enemy, having him stumble back into his teammates, and the explosion of the chakram killing everyone around him.

Yes, you just have to save Zaal'Koris and disable the Geth Server first.

So as long as you have 5 points? I didn't deactivate the Heretics in ME2, but I have done everything else and it adds up to 5.

That link to the demotivational poster was pure win. Thanks. And the gossip about the original planned ending concept...
Spoiler

I think I might have bought that better.  Still ultimately a "crapshoot" ending, but not so ambivalent. "We'll try it on our own, [censored] off Reapers" or "We'll throw our lot in with you and pray we can stop Dark matter"... dunno, might have felt more solid.

Wow, you are done already with ME1. I am probably going to set the difficult to casual can go through them quickly because this run is just for story, but I couldn't finish it *that* quickly! Even knowing the plot and what to do, i still have to explore the hell out of everything.

I've ordered ME3 and should be getting it n a few days. Absolutely thrilled. Looks to be a great game. I know as little as possible about it, haven't even played the demo. Only tidbits of "war assets," people saying they didn't like the ending and the trailers. It looks fantastic. But could someone answer a few questions for me (no spoilers please):
1. Is the ME2

the Shadow broker is mentioned without the DLC.

Zaeed and Kasumi are not.

From Ashes isn't essential, but the prothean squadmate was too good to pass up for me.

For those who know nothing about anime, what do you mean?

Person A throwing idol threats at person B. Person B saying something along the lines of "I am stronger" or "I will defeat you". Persons A and B proceed to have an unrealistic fight resulting in collateral damage, orphaned children and much energy based attacks thrown at eachother.

And for those of us who do know a little bit about anime, what do you mean? Sorry, Oof, but that just read as a completely dismissive comment of what, on the whole, was a good, fun game trilogy. Flawed, but fun. Peaks and valleys in the game, changes that were well received or not, etc., but it was a fun gameplay experience. Calling it "anime" seems really disassociated from the subject.

No, none of those DLC are critical.  Kasumi and Zaeed will show up on side missions, if you've had them in ME2 and they survived, and Liara will talk about being the Shadow Broker whether you did the DLC or not.

Arrival isn't necessary - just sort of sets up for the prologue of ME3, why Shep is on Earth, and releived of duty when the game starts. :)

I actually liked the From Ashes DLC.  ymmv, but it nets you another crew member, which is fine by me. Had some interesting insights.

I think this is the first time that a BioWare written-game has had such terrible, terrible writing that I think it made me stupid.

Yea, well I have spring break right now and haven't been working much. Took me about 22 hours, I did some exploring and a handful of sidequest. I'm going to buy all the DLC I don't have for ME2 now, which include Overlord, Lair of the Shadow Broker, and Arrival.

Ending spoilers:

Spoiler
I'm reading tons of anolysis, and I have to believe- the game was rushed out the door. Seriously. The endings invalidate so much of the game that it's not even funny. Get the Quarians/Geth to make peace but choose Destroy? Nope, Geth dead anyways. Most of the Quarian species trapped in orbit around Earth, destined to starve to death, too (I think, at least).

Bioware has to fix this. I will pay for DLC, even if it's a terrible practice, but I need a good ending.

I'm curious: How is it that most people I know who already played through ME 2 were averaged between levels 18 - 25 when they completed the game, meanwhile, I have still yet to do the loyalty missions for Thane, Garrus, Grunt, Mordin and Jack - all while sitting at 210 XP till level 28. Did everyone just shortcut the game or did I find some mystical XP spring when I was asleep?

Also, under peer-pressure in the curiosity of my friends wanting to know how it goes, I'm dedicating my 1st playthrough's relationship with

I'd be up for it, I haven't leveled up yet much but I like to think I'm good with teamwork.

For those who know nothing about anime, what do you mean?

Spoilered not because there are spoilers, but to avoid cluttering up the thread:

Spoiler
ME (was originally meant to be a "serious" sci-fi, or at least it was marketed as such but) is a self-serious, over- and melodramatic story set in a broad, colourful, and magical (contra scientific/realistic) reality. All of the main characters are super-interesting. All of your circumstances and actions are OTT.

A lot of the anime that isn't comical can be described similarly. While this style may have worth, it's just difficult to take it as seriously as it wants you to take it, and this tends to detract from the overall experience. It's a legitimate style, but it does have its drawbacks.

ME falls somewhere in the space between The Fifth Element (self-aware, camp space opera) and... Dune (it-could-really-happen, oh-god-this-is-the-future-and-isn't-it-both-awesome-and-terrifying, serious sci-fi). There's a reason not a lot of material between these two spectrums is successful beyond its immediate release: it's trying to be too many things, so it can't really be anything. (Star Wars and Star Trek being the exceptions because they fill a niche; as does ME now, I guess.)

[I always fall back on TFE as an example... The movie works because it doesn't take itself too seriously.]

While ME may be a game, it's gone out of its way to emulate other media, so I don't think it's unfair to judge it according to the criteria of those other media. If a cyclist tries to be a shotputter, should I artificially inflate his scores on either front?

ME is a pretty good/fun experience, though. And I think that's what it's going for. And it's succeeded.
