That makes sense. I was wondering why she sometimes "slipped up" on her "English" accent. My mind's still insisting she was American for ME2... She does really weird stuff with her voice. I don't know if it's on purpose but she sounds... strange. At one point I even thought she might be Welsh.
Eh, an actor with Polish parents brought up in Australia probably under directions to make her accent like "x", I can understand why it sounds weird. Still extremely sixy though

Rather than just letting it scan and scan and scan, if it did it for more than 30seconds I cancelled and tried again. Eventually worked.
It ended up being an issue with my internet. I won't go into the details, but long story short I face palmed pretty hard when I realised what the problem was.

Perhaps we should start adding our Origin/PSN/XBL names (And possibly Steam IDs too because Origin svcks for chatting) in the OP. So that we can actually get some people to play with MP?

I'll start. Origin/Steam ID: SimpsonFly
My Origin ID is Denial73. I have an N7 rank of 138 but I recently promoted most of my classes so I'll probably be playing a fair bit of silver/bronze.

I'm glad I have these plot holes to look forward to

Spoiler
Up until the magic platform started rising after Anderson's death, I thought the game was damn near perfect. Hell, I could have accepted the three barely different endings and that stupid vent boy AI if it hadn't been for three things:

1) The mass relays were destroyed. This, in itself, is fine. Welcome, even. But the game actually violates the lore established in Arrival by not obliterating every star system in the known galaxy when this happens. Life continues when what is essentially the game's prologue says otherwise? What? Really?

2) The Normandy somehow being in the mass relay when it's getting destroyed. Never mind that the Control and Synthesis endings shouldn't even be destroying the relays in the first place; why the hell is Joker running away from the battle? There's no way he could have foreseen the Crucible blast doing what it eventually did and reacting accordingly without reading the script, so it becomes apparent that he was abandoning Shepard (and Earth) in their greatest time of need. This is so out of character it's not funny.

3) In my game, Garrus and Liara both died when Harbinger blasted my ass with his laser. Yet when the Normandy crashed, they both came out unharmed. What!? If they weren't hurt in the explosion, then they would have been there when Shepard ascended into the Citadel. If they didn't follow Shepard on his/her suicide run in the first place (which would be highly out of character for ANY of the squadmates), there's absolutely no way they could have been picked up by the Normandy between the beginning of Shepard's approach and his/her activation of the Crucible. Extraction in that area would have literally been impossible.

And if you want to argue that they could have been picked up by the Normandy had they retreated to a safer area, that makes Joker's sudden entrance into the mass relay even more implausible.

:pinch:

Eh, an actor with Polish parents brought up in Australia probably under directions to make her accent like "x", I can understand why it sounds weird. Still extremely sixy though

Oh, ya, her voice is fine, just odd. :)

So I picked it up for Xbox yesterday.

Not a fan of the dialogue so far. At all.

And my Shep's appearance didn't carry over. The game claimed it was unreadable. Got a decent approximation, but it's not the same. :sadvaultboy:

Dumb Question: I have the Collector's Edition code for "the Ashes" DLC. Where / how do I enter it? I'm never prompted to and if I go to the ingame-network it wants to charge me MS points for the DLC.

Heh - i had the same quest three threads ago. iirc, click the little gear thing on the origin panel, and it gives you a place to enter the access code. I never would have known that if someone here hadn't pointed it out. Not real informative.

I didn't get super worked up over some faces not transferring over. I always tweak my Shepard from game to game anyway and always get something I can live with. :)

The vanguard class seems to be glitched in MP. If I charge right before I die, and somehow die while in the middle of the charge, the class gets all twitchy and will eventually start to float into the sky before falling through the map, making me useless.

Happened to me three times so far.

It happens to me sometimes as well. Fortunately, it's not a very common glitch and there's a few ways you can avoid it. Try not to charge an enemy behind cover. That seems to cut back on the occurrences drastically.

It took me 40 levels with the vanguard to figure it out....

Happens to me just charging out in the open. Which svcks because charging is my entire strategy.

Charge, empty clip into face, charge again if not dead, repeat.

Oh, sorry, I was on PC version. The Origin panel pops up at some point, there is a small gear icon in the right corner, iirc. I am at work so I do not have it installed here, sorry. Someone else may come along and give you a clearer answer.

I would argue, however, that the "perfect" ending isn't anything special.

Yeah, it's not that amazing.

My Gamestop code came with a note to find out how to enter the code at "http://www.gamestop.com/code". I suspect that those directions are generic ones for any code. So you should be able to find how, there. There's specific pdf downloads for PC/PS3/X360. Hope this helps. :)

Does anyone know how romances are handled? Can you only romance one person, or can you romance everyone, or are there some people that you can't romance if you romance others, etc. I'm asking because I tend towards completionism on a first playthrough, and I don't want to accidentally close off content. If there are companions that are exclusive, I can always pick them up on subsequent playthroughs.

I'm playing a standard game -- i.e. no imported saves/DLC/anything.

Well, re the spoiler comment, that is my working theory on that issue, since it sort of defies normal logic. :) I am still just sort of at sixes and sevens with how i feel about the game's conclusion.

As for romances, I rarely bother with trying to romance other than one love interest (usually Kaidan for femshep, though one game save, I romanced Thane.). This is primarily because some of the most awkward dialog is associated with the other romances that I start giggling helplessly and can't follow through. I was able to rekindle the femshep relationship with Kaidan, which was a nice bit of closure, because it felt bad in ME2 when he sort of rejects you/no longer trusts you.

Heh, the MP seems to be full of glitches like this. I personally have been revived in the middle of battle, only to remain lying on the ground as a corpse that could shoot and use powers. Additionally, I was once dead when the round restarted and my Asari came back to life standing there with her arms outstretched and legs locked together (like it just loaded the model or something).

By the way I accepted your friend request on Origin - looking forward to playing together some time, but I'll probably head off to bed at the moment. I just realised it was four in the morning... What the hell?

If I remember correctly you enter Xbox codes into something in the Xbox live marketplace panel on the dashboard. Something like "Redeem Code" or whatever. Hope you find it.

Also, Leydenne:
Spoiler
There is some long and somewhat convincing theory on the Bioware forums that everything taking place at the end is Harbinger's attempt at indoctrinating Shepard. Explains the surrealness, the way Shepard just accepts and goes along with everything, the weird things happening to your screen, etc. Codex entries describe indocrtrinated people having delusions and revering the Reapers as Gods (like the Catalyst). There is more evidence for it, but I've forgotten large parts.

One last thing - the only thing you need to see to know about ME's awkward romance dialogue is this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3wO4IOJc9U

Heavy risk, but the priiiize.

Ashes DLC code is redeemed in the same way you would for say a prepaid gold subscription or for microsoft points:
Xbox Guide Button - Marketplace - Redeem code.

I' beginning to think I'm maybe 1 of 3 people who have this series for the 360.

I was pretty much 100% loyal to Liara from ME1 to the end, in my "true" playthrough. I was able to get a scene in ME3 with Traynor and a beginning with Allers, but I reloaded those saves to do it "right", so I don't know what Liara says about it. Given that there were jealousy/gotta-choose-one dialogues in ME1 (no idea about ME2), I'd guess that you can't just romance everyone freely in ME3, and there would have been consequences for jumping in the shower with Traynor.

Yes, I was able to do it.

you have to do both the loyalty missions for Legion and Tali in ME2, the mission to deactivate some of the geth assigned by Legion, and you HAVE to save Admiral Koris during that rescue mission. He is worth 2 of the 5 points you need to get both sides.

I play ME like I play FF and Persona -- i.e. collect/experience as much of the story/characters/equipment/tokens as possible. If the over-earnest character interaction and story give me an unintentional laugh or two along the way (and/or, on the rare occasion, even manage to make me care), all the better. :P I leave "my" playthrough for last.

I do think the Liara/Shephard relationship -- what I've seen of it so far, anyway -- is well done. One interaction in particular even managed to make my throat lumpy!

Hmm.

I was hoping they'd changed the relationship dynamics for 3. Seeing as the status quo of the entire universe is unravelling, you'd think a lot more people would be up for one night stands. Don't know if I'll want to replay this multiple times just to experience the other characters, though. I'm doing three playthroughs -- one standard game, one game with DLC and saves, and a final, "proper" playthrough. If I don't cover all the relationships by then, I'll probably just watch the remainder on youtube.
