Mass Effect thread #66

This actually makes sense, alternative ending possibilities...

Spoiler
The whole three games where actually the old man telling the story of 'The Shepard' now most of the stories he tells he can do so in a fair bit of detail because they are all kind of historical records and artifacts and stuff. But they are not there there's nothing of the kind for the last part so... that's why it's kind of spacey and anemic; the poor guy just svcks at improv. "What happened then? Eh... well, there was light and then a kid with light and The Shepard had to make a difficult choice, so he went for the blue ending, the end... now where are my dentures?"

Any word on DLC, or new multiplayer additions?
We've been upgraded form minor nuisance to some websites 50 most powerful people/groups on the internet. Ranking us in at #40 filed under Bioware Fans. They've said to wait until April. The masses are awaiting to see what they bring to the table. If they try and pull a fast one we will be ready. The retake movement is still gigantic and isn't anywhere near finished until we get that actual content in our hard drives and installed.

Edit
And we make sure it satisfies our criteria of giving us a new ending. Or if it is sufficiently of depth to explain this current ending. Though the general consensus seems to want an entirely new ending which is what I would prefer. EA might try and just add in some BS content.

I was wondering do you keep your weapons if you transfer a profile from Mass Effect 1 to Mass Effect 2? I keep hearing about this Geth Pulse Rifle and how you can only get it on Insanity or Hard on ME 2 but I got it in a drop at Virmire on ME1
The only thing that goes with you from game transfers is the major decisions you make.

Depends on how you fight. They are all more or less the best weapons of their classes. Though for Sniper Rifles i prefer Javelin due it's scope that highlights enemies trough obstacles. Allows headshots trough cover

Too bad they don't transfer into ME3's ending...

the wraith is lighter, less accurate, less damaging, and has less ammo.

What Spectre weapon is for Assault Rifles?
As I recall the spectre requisitions terminal doesn't sell an assault rifle.

No, while it's not as good as the Geth Plasma shotgun, the wraith outperforms a number of other shotguns, and the weight of the Geth Plasma might be untenable for certain Shepard/multiplayer builds.

Also multiplayer is super fun, wish you could pick individual items/characters instead of random loot crates

Well Mr Hudson said in an article that they had software that tracked all the decisions and changes from 1 through 2 so they could keep track of the game into number 3, so everything would apply, and you can see obviously how well it worked.

I've just started another ME1 game and had forgotten how creepy some of the ambient music is. Far more atmospheric than subsequent games...
Agreed. Everything is blue, everything is mysterious. I prefer the time when we knew nothing about the Protheans except that they built cities from stone. And Reapers were a real threat instead of elaborate, brainless mooks you could take down in a few seconds.

ME1 is definitely my favorite of the three, though the combat is annoying.

One of my play through in Mass Effect I did not hang up on the council. Later on two games later in ME3 when I was talking to Joker he said something like this '..remember the good old days working for the council you always hang up on them." As I recall in ME2 Shepard said to Joker " Joker better run diagnosis there maybe a bug in the software."

Hanging up on the Council is fun for the whole family.
I always do it the moment that damn Turian opens his big mouth.

"I don't need this..."

Yep the story and sense of mystery is wonderful in 1. I prefer the combat and relationships from 2/3 though. I'd forgotten how establishing a relationship with someone was basically 'go be nice to them after every mission'. I suppose it was like that in others too but it comes across as far more systematic in 1.

Am having issues taking cover in 1 but suppose that's because I didn't do it much in my first playthrough and have got used to the slightly different way of doing it for 2 and 3.

This is the first time I've persevered with a male Shep though. Its absolutely incredible the lack of depth I find the malesheps voice acting! I don't know if he's particularly bad or Jennifer Hale is particularly good but having the 'I'm attracted to you' conversation with Liara was painful to listen to at times...

I've heard that Meer improved an awful lot through the series; I played as Dave Shepard for a bit in ME2 and thought he was fairly good. Jennifer Hale is good, but her voice makes my ears bleed.

All this talk about ME1 had me dreaming about it last night. I dreamt it took me only a day to play it through, but on the plus side I was actually in it rather than watching my avatar on a screen. I spent a disproportionate amount of the "game" trying to find somewhere to sleep. Sigh.

That I certainly agree with. I was pursuing romance with Liara (as I do every time regardless of gender or karma) and she was pointing out that I had something going on with Kaidan. No, we are just friends. Then I had to explain to Kaidan how it was "just a battlefield thing". Speaking of which I didn't remember how polarized ME1 dialogue is. The options are: 1) Yes, I'd love to hear more about your problem 2) Tell me more 3) YOU ARE OUT OF LINE, SOLDIER. Where as in the other two games the third option is something simple and nice like "I don't have the time right now".

I think the complete opposite: I greatly dislike the apathetic MaleShep and instead greatly favor and adore Jennifer Hale's acting. Thus, 4/5 of my Shepards are female.

Not at all, it very powerful, has two shots and reloads quickly. It's the weapon of choice for my Vanguard to finish off anything that survives charge + nova combination. Better than Claymore that i always used in ME2, it reloads too slowly in 3.
