The Extended Cut seems to point to IT... if it is I will be so happy

How so?

They won't be changing anything with the original ending, but they said they will be expanding on it... They never said the current ending will stay as the ending, but said they won't be changing anything in the original ending, which they wouldn't have to do with IT. Maybe it's blind hope, but, meh, i'll take it!

I think you're seeing what you want to in the clouds, but heck, more power to you. It'd still be better than what we got.

Apparently they didn't even bother hiring Shepard's voice actor yet.

What a load of roller coaster crap. We are going to change the ending. We aren't going to change the ending. We are going to provide closure. No, we won't be providing closure.

Spoiler
I don't get the impression things will change, just be built upon? And to that end I doubt [spoiler] the Normandy will end up crashing on Earth...
Damnit, give me some hope :(

Trust me hon - I want it to happen as much as anyone else but I've just lost hope they'll fix it. Given their reaction that they don't want to change the creative direction of the team it's obviously what they wanted to end up with. I'm actually quite surprised they're even looking to clarify the ending. It's pretty obvious looking back on it now that it was always meant to be up in the air for your own interpretation.

We were one of the biggest social movements in video game history. If we can't get them to change the ending no one ever will. Just take it as a lesson and not buy any more of Bioware's [censored]. Everything after Dragon Age Origins has generally been crap. Mass Effect 2 was the exception it seems. I'll give them a small benefit of the doubt, but personally have no hope.

EA and Bioware have earned my undying ire.

ME2 is what gave me confidence that at least the Mass Effect team had what it takes after the DA2 debacle (even though I don't hate DA2 outright and appreciate its good bits.) But now I don't really see I have any reason to have faith in Bioware; or rather EA, since they seem to rely on a stream of acquisitions to get away with doing this sort of thing over and over.

At least we http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZCARXI0WvGo. We forced them to do anything at all. I remember when people laughed and sneered at us as though we were spoiled children. Just babbling for free cookies. It shows other companies what could happen if they screw their customers around too much. We won, but we didn't get what we thought we would. We can take some solace in that at least. We also raised money for children in need. Raised awareness on a number of things in the video game industry. We've had no "small" effect.

Edit
It's too late for EA/Bioware to fix the sales of Mass Effect 3 as well. We hit them in their wallets at least.

Actually, if this tweet is legit, there may be hope:

She's been caught making some pretty outrageous claims in the past. It was also evident she hasn't even played the ending. I would take anything she says with less than a grain of dirt.

Looks like I can finally put a nail in the coffin with Bioware. Clarifying the endings would be nice if the ending wasn't a mass filled Plotholed Piece of [censored] and AstroBoy too. There's better game companies out there then indoctrinated Bioware that I can buy something from and who also deserve my money. Hope Big Huge/38 Studios gets away from EA after Reckoning, don't want them following in the same route as Bioware.

I do believe there are a great many people out there who should apologize to the retake movement. I know they won't svck up their pride, but everyone out there knows who you are. Chief among you it a lot of video game news sites. I beleive many likened us to the stages ofhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K%C3%BCbler-Ross_model Except when we got mad we didn't just quit when we had the chance, the brain is a very adaptable thing. Sometimes illogical choice can be the only choice. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aWJcwmjM8mE, someone else might have gotten it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lfJMIwHDEM

http://blog.bioware.com/2012/04/05/mass-effect-3-extended-cut/ I think Bioware is handling it correctly. Clarity for their vision, not changing it to please some folks. All in all an interesting development. I think the frustration at the ending caught them flat-footed. I'll be downloading this when it is released and replaying ME3 at that point.

I don't think it was rollercoaster crap though. The Bioware folks have been very PR-careful about what they were saying.

I hate it when game companies do that. Many small dlcs, minor changes, just to make you buy it, so otherwise you would feel like not playing the complete version.

Oh  ... I'm stupid. :bonk:

Anyway they released many other dlc for Mass Effect 1&2 and Dragon Age, which I think are overpriced.

It sounds like we can expect a couple of text screens ala DA:O. I don't think this works for ME like it did for DA:O mainly because it was all voiced whereas DA:O was a lot more text based. Having said that if they plug all the holes, or at least the huge ones (relays exploding taking out entire galaxies and therefore entire civilizations, everyone stuck in Sol, etc) then it will be a far cry better than what we have.

I was more referring to the structure of their message. First they say they appreciate feedback and are listening to their fans. Then they say they like their writers more and won't be making fundamental changes. Then they say they will provide closure. Then we hear how Hale/Meer are not contracted for more and no new endings will be made.

"Mass Effect 3: Extened Cut", eh? For free, you say? Free until April 2014, you say? Huh.

Debatable. She's PR for Bioware. Don't know if she's misled fans before but it would be incredibly stupid for their own PR people to issue false statements at this point in the game.

Well. At least it's official that there will be a DLC. No changed ending, but something that explains the ending a little better. That's reasonable, I think.
