Is metal for ponies?

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 12:28 am

I tried reading lyrics to them, they said there were hidden meanings within the songs not made clear in the lyrics.

My parents are very religious although I negledcted to mention that in my first post because I know religion is against the rules andwas hoping it wouldn't get brought up to much.

My parents are very unresonable about this and very closed minded, it's why I have turned to asking the community for advice
Rob Halford from Judas Priest was made to stand trial in a US court over allegations their music contained hidden messages if the mucic was played backwards. It was claimed to have led to a boy commiting suicide after listening to a song called Better By You Better By Me because apparantly the words "Do It" were hidden in the song if played backwards

The case was thrown out of court because of how ridiculous what was being claimed actually was.... How many people are going to actually listen to music backwards anyway on the off chance there will be a secret message and secondly even if the words "do it" were in the song the context upon which they were meant was unclear anyway. The words "Do it" could mean literally anything.

Just show them some power metal, most of that stuff is flowers and rainbows. Dragons and swords and battles too so that might not work out but hey give it a try anyways.

Make sure you go really cheesy though like Rhaposdy of Fire and Sonata Arctica and maybe some Powerquest.

Me neither, but they did in the middle ages, and that's where they found out that tritones are of the devil.

They also found out that eating with forks is a form of devil worship. As is wearing undergarments, apparently.

Commando FTW.

EDIT: My thread just got locked. I only created it to prove a point - a thread based around christianity would get locked for religious discussion, whereas a thread based around satanism wouldn't. Interesting. It appears one set of beliefs is more validated than the other. Hmmm...

There are FAR more Christians that exist in the world than legitimate theistic Satanists or other practitioners of the Occult. It shouldn't be surprising that a thread on Christianity is far more risky than one on Satanism.

And yet religious discussions in general are almost purely unpleasant and full of flaming, so locked or not, those types of threads are about as fun to post in as getting myself off with a cactus.

Is metal satanic?

I don't think so---I have three heavy metal albums and haven't got a visit from Mr.D.
My CD's are:
Dethalbum 1&2 by Dethklok (I love all the songs on this CD).
and an old Duke Nukem soundtrack.

Agreed. It's a bit better than it was though. I do my bit but I'm usually inebriated when I post, so an intelligent thread is usually beyond my grasp.

Rob Halford's gay though, hardly think this guy's parents will appreciate the acknowledgement of their existence.

I should pay more attention to things other people like instead of in a style of music that is outdated amongst other things

Are your parents telling you to listen to music that is in style???!!! Nuff said I think. But no, metal ain't satanic, but some bands are and some sub-genres have a larger amount of these bands (such as black metal) while other sub-genres have none at all. However, these bands are sometimes good and you shouldn't worry about listening to them if you like their music. If you're a beginner metalhead, then I'd recommend you start out with well-known bands like Metallica, black Sabbath, Iron Maiden etc. then find your style. For example I prefer viking, folk and pagan metal which incorporates folk instruments and has lyrics about mythology and ancient history, but you should soon find the sub-genre you like. Stay metal dude!
Oh, and some ACTUAL satanic metal for all the fundamentalists; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mxDiKSHqBIc as you can see, this is probably not what your children are listening to so relax. Satanic bands will just come out and say it in my experience (you can obviously see this is the case here).

Profession For A Cattle Man are weak compared to bands like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Foh92QgqvIA&feature=related.

Spare him, the metal is not strong enough in this one yet.

Unless it specifically promotes Satanism then it's just music. Musical genres aren't "for" certain kinds of people. You can listen exclusively to classical music and still be a loser.

Also, it's just a more angry and aggressive genre of music, which makes working at so much better.
