Somehow I get the feeling it'll be closer to DynamicHights, selecting what world size you want during world creation.

I honestly think Jeb should work on the depth of worlds before height. Ores should be spread further apart with a deeper world and there could be more ruins and monster dungeons the deeper you go.

Programmatically, there is no io difference between "we added 384 blocks to the top height, and moved the default sea level to 256" and "we added 192 height levels to the bottom, and the same to the top", so this change already does what you want it to do.

Unless Jeb botches the implementation and/or gets lazy with it, that is. :)

Oh, well that's a start then

There is still a problem IMO. Minecraft has always suffered from a really short difficulty curve. Right off the bat you can go deep underground and find diamond, and within 30 minutes you have diamond equipment and thats it - You've acquired the strongest material in the game. The type of materials you can use to make weapons and armor should be at least doubled, or even tripled. I think this would go nicely with a deeper world. Maybe throw in more mob spawns and dungeons the deeper you go, maybe more creeper and zombie types or something to make going for the rare ores a challenge.

*Sees more and creepers in the same sentence, shivers*
*Invisions that cursed street, breaks a sweat*
*Realise he has the worst connection, plus the more creepers and on that street, :bolt:*

1,000? I want my mountains to be up to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olympus_Mons blocks high, and my seas to go down to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Challenger_Deep blocks, with quite a bit of rock below that.

Closest you can get is 1024. This turned my game into a powerpoint slideshow, though.

maybe a material that is only found in the nether and is very difficult to get, such as only spawns at the bottom of a lava lake.
for me though it is not so much about the difficulty as much as i want ways to get more resources faster so that i can build more and faster and larger.

I've always wanted deeper/taller worlds. The current height limit is too restrictive.

It would be interesting if we could somehow actually reach the moon and build on it.

Well, in theory, we could turn the Ender World into one. I mean, in my texture pack, instead of static, the backdrop is a cosmic stars (To match the cosmic endermen/dragon)

It would still be too small

Not if worked together and made a sprawling moonbase. Make biodomes and what have you, turn the exit pool into a 'rocket ship' design, and the entrance in the ender world a docking platform.

Or alternatively, turn it into a gulag for naughty server members.

Once I was stranded in the nether after those baby things destroyed my portal. Forgot who bailed me out.

What I'm talking about is an actual moon. Complete with not being able to breath without a suit or base. Going outside would gradually kill you without special clothes.

The add-on mod of IC^2 called Rocket science is currently in the works which currently has missiles, fusion reactors, autominers and soon to have Satellites and the Moon. Just waiting for an update so that SMP gets here that much sooner.

How would you handle Endermen spawning in areas taller than 2 blocks high?

Hey guys, I kinda want to get Minecraft on my laptop but I need some help. I tried a demo of it and the frame-rate was awful, I'm afraid my graphics card may be too bad (it's kinda bad).

Specs:
Intel Core i7-2630QM
4GB RAM
Geforce GT 520M

I've got no knowledge in PC specs so I can't tell if those specs are good or not, I do know that my graphics card is bad. I can play game like Amnesia on medium/good settings but why Minecraft have to be so damn difficult is beyond me. I even tried turning all the graphics down in the options but the frame-rate is still annoying.

If there are any solutions and ways to fix this, please tell me. Unless I'm doomed that is, which is kinda sad but I'll accept it nonetheless.

You could try using http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/249637-11-optifine-hd-c-fps-boost-hd-textures-aa-af/, but I don't know if it will help for certain.

Thanks, looks interesting. :) The problem however is that I haven't bought the game yet, and I feel it would be a waste of money if I purchased it and there's no guarantee I'll ever get it to run smoothly. I assume you can only try out that thing with the full game.
