AK-47 Mod?

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 7:29 pm

Yes its possible.

Very simply its a Staff (recharges with bullets instead of Soulgems) or Bow with various Bullet types. As people have said it would require an animation set. Flamethrowers and similar are also possible as the Effects necessary are already in game for the most part (spells). Basically modeling and animation will be the most difficult part of it. The references and logical functionality will be very easy if somewhat laborous to do. I imagine you'll need to do a race change/morph on the wielder via On Equip/On Activate/etc. to seperate the animation set from the standard animation sets as switching between those will cause glitches and problems.

Well, that one guy had a really cool lore friendly idea with the Dwemer technology rifle.

Lore reasons aside... There's the issue of an AK-47 feeling like... An AK-47 not in just looks but in the feel of using them. I believe magical staffs have been brought into Skyrim though I never used one that does damage yet. Reloading, perhaps some type of recoil those would be issues, I'm not sure if it could ever mechanically feel the same as in Fallout for instance. Personally I'd like it if they brought back crossbows which were in Morrowind, a scope on the crossbow is about as far as I could feel to be lore friendly. Dwemer crossbow with a scope, that on the other hand would feel just right to me. Way easier to make than an AK-47, and arguably quite lore friendly at least by TES standards in general.

I've never played CoD...what gives? And your copy of Skyrim will STAY without guns. No worries! From what I understand, mods are not contagious viruses.

Personally I have no interest in guns in Skyrim even lore aside, I find the mechanics working well to be highly questionable. That all aside... Yeah mods aren't contagious. If someone wants to make a completely lore contradicting mod that for instance... Made dragons breathe out clouds instead of fire, made cliff racers replace dragons, turned altmer into the shortest race, turned steel into light armor, made nords resistant to fire, dumner resistant to frost, bretons vulnerable to magicka, bosmer more hated by animals, made a single 1 hander (non dual wielding) do more damage than 2 handers, made shields block less damage, made destruction spells that healed, made flame atronachs cast frost spells... Okay you probably see where I'm getting at. Yes it would be blasphemous to TES lore, and yes I wouldn't want things THAT contrary to the lore in MY PERSONAL Skyrim, mods are NOT contagious. If someone for some reason wants flame atronachs that cast frost spells, I don't feel the need to ridicule them for it. If I was forced to get their mod it would be different.

Steam powered Dwemer guns anyone?

Joke aside, don't feed the obvious troll, because he is not only obvious now, but fat from over feeding.

To those saying guns don't belong in medieval RPGs - guns were invented in the 1300s.

I can see the Dwemer being technologically advanced enough to make gun-like technology. Would I download a mod that did it? No. Do I think it's an OMGTERRIBLEHORRIBLEAWFUL idea? Not particularly.

And for god's sake guys, it's just a mod. It's not like Bethesda's inserting it into our game with a stealth patch. This is why it's a moddable single-player game - so everyone can play THEIR way. How does him wanting guns affect you in any way?

What is the point of criticizing the existence of a mod you have no interest in? And by that I mean in a thread solely made for said mod. I see some mod ideas I have no interest in at all in the first place, it seems the polite thing to do would be to remain silent, and stay out of the thread. If it was in a lore thread, an unrelated thread being invaded with lore unfriendly ideas, or a mandatory mod it would be different

Criticizing the idea is fine, though imo a waste of effort if you have zero interest in it. Flaming him for coming up with the idea is a different story.

Seems like most people don't care really about anyhting other then what they want and only what they think other players should play. But, to answer the OPs question, yes, adding a AK would be a fairly easy mod considering FONV and mods should have about everything you need. Would I download a AK mod, no, would I give someone else crap for how they want to play their game, nope.

The thread maes me want a full on commando mod where all the lore in the game is the same except for your toon who is a commando with machine guns, grenades and mines. They should let you call in air strikes in dragons modded to be a-10 and armour in modded mammoths. I want it so you can blow up every book and brick in the game. Level the whole freakin thing. That would be so cool.

This thread is a mess, but yeah. I'd like flintlock pistols and matchlock rifles, and if you don't want it, then don't download it.

Cross-dimensional paradox. All the triple-A November 2011 games converge on Nirn.

An entire chunk of middle-eastern desert, complete with half a base and a bunch of Marines are ripped through space-time from earth onto Nirn. The Marines promptly set to work doing what they do best: [censored] [censored] up. Especially dragons.

At the same time, a portion of Stilwater appears elsewhere in the province of Skyrim. Some balls-freezing Saints are seen scrounging leopard-print fur seat covers from their cars to use as makeshift coats. Horse-jacking and [censored]-spewing ensues.

At an inn in Solitude, an oddly-costumed man is denied further servings of Colovian Brandy on account of his near-ruined vocal chords. He mutters something about 'not being the hero Skyrim wants', puts on his bat cowl and leaves.

I think at least the first bit could be hilarious.

NO! Not in a Elders Scrolls game. If you want a AK-47 in a game besides COD clones, try Fallout3 with Fook2 or with FWE. Not this game.

Wow. What's with all the haters here? The OP had an idea, no need to flame him for it.

It is possible, once the CK is released. Not sure how it would work though. Probably would be easiest to just replace a staff model with the AK-47, so it shoots out magic balls or whatever.

Just simply putting a modern gun? No.

But if there is a well crafted quest mod that tells about a bunch of guys experimenting with
muskets, reversed engineered using dwemer technology, i think it might be acceptable.

Maybe a small questline that starts with hearing a rumor about them somewhere,
then do a couple of quests to meet them, and either helping them or sabotaging their project.
Im sure more creative writers can think of a better plot.

Holy crap, what's with all the hateflametrolling in this topic? Don't be jerks.

The whole point of mods is to change the game to suit what player wants, no matter how ridiculous. You don't have to use the mod. Mods don't have to be BALANCED or REALISTIC if you just want to have fun.

Of course, I wouldn't use this mod either in a playthrough, but it sounds like a fun thing to add when you just want to goof off. Mods are subjective.

I would like a pistol for this game, but TBH, it would be for a total conversion (there would only be one gun in the entire game). I don't think guns fit into the Elder Scrolls world unless the devs say so. That kind of weapons technology hasn't been invented because with magical fireballs, there has been no need for it. Technological innovation often comes directly from need. That said, if fear of magic becomes extreme enough, some people might start looking for non-magical methods to fire long ranged attacks that are faster and more powerful than archery and crossbows. I wouldn't expect it any time soon though.
