What have you recently done that was a huge mistake?

Here's mine:

Lets set the scene: I get back from hanging with my girlfriend at around 1am. My friends call me up around 3am and ask me what I'm doing/asking if I can pick them up from a party gone wrong. I think about it, and hell, why not? It's saturday morning, nothings going on, the house they're at is only 10 minutes away. I go pick their drunk asses up.

We decide to drink a couple beers and watch the sun rise off my back yard (I live on a golf course facing the sunrise, its beautiful in the morning). I get quite a few deep and we eventually fall asleep around 7 after watching it rise and go. I wake up at 8 (still QUITE drunk) and realize I have to go to the bathroom.

This is where things go bad.... I decided not to take the trek to the bathroom (about 20 feet from myself) and instead go to the bathroom in a slurpee bottle....... It's all fine until my friend decides to bust in the room. Scared me like HELL. I fumble around and some of the urine flys out (not a lot... but enough) right into my fan.

I was using this fan as a cooler for my computer because the fan inside had failed and it kept over heating. I'm sure you can put two and two together and figure out what happened. Computer INSTANTLY shut off, would not start no matter what I did. I decided to recable it all to see if that was an issue (just a shot in the dark), and once I power it on: visible flames protruding from my video card and my motherboard smoking. Bad bad bad bad bad.

tldr; successfully lit my motherboard/other computer components on fire with my urine.
Lets see someone top that.

I am the most perfect being on this planet: a wombat, and a WonderWombat so that makes it even better. So no mistakes here.

Always make the trek. 1. It's satisfying while you're there. 2. It's satisfying to fall back into bed having been relieved.

In Bangkok, there is a very real and scientifically proven correlation between the beauty of a woman and the diminishing chance that's she's actually female.

That's all I have to say on the matter.

Not as good as OP's story but:

I was playing knock and run with a few friends back in the day (y'know, when we were cool enough to play Knock and Run!) and I, stupidly, knocked way too hard on the window of the door. Because we were all running down the street at the time, my hand went through the window and the back of my fingers ripped whilst I was running. It hurt...a lot. It looked like something from a horror movie! That was kinda stupid. But where I live, in the middle of nowhere, the nearest A+E was around 6 miles away. Instead of calling an ambulance, like normal people would, me and my 8 friends trekked there over the course of around an hour...in that time, I'd lost something like 2 and a half pints of blood and looked like a ghost! They told me I was stupid, my friend started poking it to try and get pictures (they exist! But are way too gory for these forums...PM if you MUST see them!) and carted me off into an ambulance to have plastic surgery.

What started as a simple Tuesday night with a group of friends turned into a week off school (3 days in hospital), a general anaesthetic, 4 local anaesthetics and a shedload of morphine.

It's fun being an idiot

Sounds more like a success story than a mistake story to me.

Haha! If you say so mate. During those 2 years, I broke 8 fingers and sliced them...

I see it as a mistake because I have a damn ugly scar there now :( Not cool

Hmm...I dunno. A cool scar should be one with a backstory involving heroism, perhaps saving someone from a burning building? Not knocking on a door too hard :P

Don't try to seperate two frozen burgers with a kitchen knife. Though my hand eventually healed, the flesh on my left forefinger is very much thinner than before.
