I played Fallout and never got into it till after fallout 3. I feel they are very different games, but huge and interesting in thier own ways.

FO2 is probably my favorite if only for the over the top often-fourth-wall breaking writing.

Perhaps but being honest I personally found the original turn based Fallouts more of a strategic challenge than the 'gun and run' fps fallout 3.

Having said that, this is just my personal opinion.

Before you answer (if you choose to)... What (in your opinion) differentiates the ISO/TB veteran (so called Jaded),
from those that only play FPP/action titles ~refusing anything that appears to diverge from that?

A lot of Fallout fans from the 90's, like FPP games as well; they play shooters and have just as much fun as anyone else... but for some, its a Peanut butter in my Chocolate sort of thing.
(or rather an anchovies in my ice cream sort of thing ~one can love both in the right context, but Anchovies don't go well with everything, and neither does FPP/run-n-gun).
