It (Wild Wasteland) is just like Bloody Mess in the originals - or so I've undestood it - no "actual" benefits or drawbacks, just a curiosityeffect, and a nice one at that. All the traits with their drawbacks in the originals didn't always suit my character build so I happily picked Bloody Mess, and that's what I'm going to do with Wild Wasteland too. So, in effect, I don't see the problem here. More than making one handicapped, it offers some relief from the burden of choosing the right second trait (if one has any difficulties in picking, that is).
And the way I see it, too much aid in the beginning can be harmful too even with the drawbacks.

In a recent interview Josh said something along the lines that Wild Wasteland doesn't add anything but rather alters existing content. For example there's a place from where, with WW, you'll find a "special handgrenade that is familiar from Fallout 2" (the holy handgrenade, I presume); and without WW you'll find a mininuke. Stuff like that. So, no drawbacks that wouldn't already be there - at least that's how it sounds.

I haven't read anything like that. Guess I've missed something. Well, if there is a "bad drawback" then there has to be benefits to counter it too (and I don't count added ingame jokes and eastereggs as benefits, but only flavor).

We'll see how it goes.
I figure being a "weirdness magnet" means you get potentially "good" and "bad" encounters (since traits are supposed to have positive and negative effects), but they both fall under the same level of "weirdness"... =p

Well all traits are said to have plus and negative traits. My favorite from the old ones for example (I dont recall the name it's something akin to 'Good Natured' or something similiar, but it boosts your speech and passive skills) is great for talking out things, but you have to really work on your gun skills in the game.

It looks to me that scoped semi auto that is being used on ghouls looks alot like the Assault Carbine, modded out with a scope, extended mag and something else, if it IS, I am disappointed that EVEN with the extended mag, it only has 24 rounds in it. :shakehead:
Ya'll could just try to ask for the gun nicely... If you're female... With Black Widow or six Appeal... There's no reason to kill Benny, Jessup and twitchy Mc Twitch shovel carrier!

Where's the fun in that? He already attempted to kill us and he has a nice gun to boot.....ya he's dead....

The guy gives off the sense that he dousnt really want to kill you (hell, he could have left you alive on purpose) I would imagine hes a real nice guy once you get past the gun and the two bullet holes in your head...

who is to say those goons arn't random thugs he hired to just beet you up? as the into goes one of them demands their payment right before you wake up. so its possible they are just some random thugs he hired to overpower you.

Nah Jessup is probably a very important character (He's leader of Great Khans y'know) and I have a feeling that Twitchy Mc Twitch the shovel carrier will be a solid character as well.

Noo, Benny is a murderer. Looking back at the opening Jessup said "Can't we just end it already." Benny says "Unlike a Khan I'm not afraid to look I the people I kill." That's some cold-blooded ****. You guys are trying to be to sympathetic towards Benny. He's affably evil. He wants you to think he's some guy that killed you but didn't really mean it..

Actually that is something that can be called honor, if you are going to kill someone you might as well know who you killed and live with the burden of killing that man or woman instead of avoiding it... or he can be a real killer, but the sympathetic approach is more interesting if you ask me =/

Usually being affable and honorable go hand in hand.
