Is there an alternate start mod yet?

http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=36035

I've used it myself from start to finish on a few playthroughs and it hasn't brought along any trouble so its perfectly good to use.

Edit: I'm not sure if this is what you meant by 'alternative start'. If you mean starting the game up, not a character, then FOMM allows for that and it works well.

I'm looking for some quest based mods or just some jobs like a caravan job or even being a courier, any job that involves fighting or talking to people would do and a mod that lets you recruit ghost, the sniper at mojave outpost would be good. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also does anyone know some good extracting software? fnv is my first proper pc game.

seconded. especially the caravan/courier jobs.

The bulk items I can buy at vendors (surplus ammo, primer boxes, casing boxes, powder jars) seem to be bugged. If I buy all of them from a vendor's inventory, I only get one bulk item's worth of stuff once I exit the vendor menu. If I try to buy one at a time, it seems to remove ALL others from the vendor's inventory once I accept the sale.

I'm asking because I'm making a bugfix for this and I wanna know if it's already been done.

Haven't seen one for that specific issue yet.

I think i already answered to the first asker that Wrye Flash's Bashed patch allows tweaking how much damage you have to do to an enemy to gain XP from his death.

Quick check with FNVEdit reveals that it alters iXPDeathRewardHealthThreshold setting, it'll be easy enough to find that setting in GECK and making one yourself. Make it 0 and you get XP from everything that dies, at 100 you get XP from only those you kill yourself completely. Default is 40, i'd guess 80 or 90 would be a good setting that still allows some assistance from followers.

That Wrye Flash setting doesn't seem to work for me. During my last patch rebuild I set it higher (about 75%) but I can just put my hands in my pockets (figuratively speaking) while my followers kill everything around me and I still get XP for doing nothing.
I'll try making a plugin, see if that works better.

I'm looking for something of a private investigator outfit. Any one know if there is one out there (F:NV or F3)?

It doesn't make it harder to get favor, but it makes negative and positive actions toward a faction more equable.

Nah, not like that. I don't want to do the Main Quest and start in the starting town (since you can only really go in one direction from there), I want something that just abandons that altogether and starts you off somewhere else. Fallout 3 had a mod like this and you could pick what kind of person you were (Vault Dweller, Scavenger, Raider, etc.) and it armed you accordingly.

Is there a mod that makes the Reinforced CA (and Mark II) helmet not look terrible? Ideally, it'd make the visor transparent ala the Reinforced CA mod for Fallout 3, but I'll settle for anything that makes those helmets look like less of an eyesore.

Personally I use http://newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35411 for the Reinforced combat armors. It's got the clear helmets, but also changes the meshes and textures to look more like the classic CA. I like this look better, but if it's not your style I'd look further.

Is there a mod which make the gates on the strip invisible/open but without connecting all the strip exteriors to one ? (to create the illusion of connected strip)

I know there are few mods which remove the gates from the strip and unite the it for one exterior.
All those mods aren't perfect, as they cause bugs and fps drops.

Personally, I don't mind the loading screens,
what is bugging me is the ugly gates which separate the strip.

is there a mod that makes companions do a less dmg? i was playing an unarmed char with ED-E (fixed him as a level 2 or 3) as a companion and he killed, or almost killed, everything before i could even get to punch them!

also i have to agree with the above poster, i would like a mod that makes the strip appear to have the gates removed, but not really remove them. my pc stutters and lags in there already; however, i think they look like crap

Hi folks.

Are there any QUALITY "Caesar's Legion" mods in the works? It seems that not only is the game bent towards the NCR, the modding community is too, and I really thought that would have gone the other way. <.< 'Quality' means that I get a lot of play-time out of it, and experience more than just "Kill. Kill kill. Kill kill kill." Quest mods, balanced achievement mods (like a new quest-run safehouse mod, or other special award), anything.

Also, are there any quest-heavy Legion companions in the works?

Heya,
Is there a mod for FONV that enables you to give commands to your companions from far? I remember there was one in FO3, where you have an inventory item, a two way radio if I am not mistaken and it allows me to chose which companion I want to speak to and what commands to give (follow, stay, etc).

I'm looking for a mod that alters the companions AI where they won't run off, around the next corner where they are surrounded by an angry mob of enemys which are very fortunate that someone is really so dumb to charge right into them.
Instead, they should stay at my side/behind me and only shoot/attack when the target is in line of sight of me.
Another addition would be, that they won't attack at all, when I'm in sneak mode or (not necessarily) before I attack first.

Thank you.

i was just about to post here to ask for companion tweaks like that hoping one had finally been made. i just got boone and now im demoted to watching him mow down enemies. sneaking becomes rather pointless since as soon as he detects an enemy he goes off rampaging. it would be nice if he would at least wait for the enemy to see him instead of rushing off to meet them even in close quarters. not very sniper-y of him :P
