Niners killed themselves.
It really wasn't a team loss

Really Kyle Williams played a huge role in that loss. He's a good player but the mistakes he made were critical and pretty much cost the Niners the game.

Really? I think the Harbowl would have been the most interesting match-up but this game is definitely second and I think it will be a very good game to watch.

Neither the Pats or Giants won their games today, the Ravens and 49ers lost them. What horrible choke jobs.

Sure both teams worked hard the whole game but when it came down to the end, Cundiff handed the win to the pats and Williams did the same for the Giants.

EDIT: Replying is so buggy..

And somehow Flacco was the best QB this Sunday. Hilarious.

The Niners had Manning shut down in the fourth quarter and in OT. I wouldn't say they deserve the credit for winning but I'll give them their credit for 17 points.

The annoucners talked about how the 49ers where the healthiest team in the league this year but it in the end its the injurey of Ted Ginn Jr. that cost them the game.

Not terribly surprising since he was the only one who got to play against the Patriots secondary.

You're next San Francisco! Next week is going to be fantastic. Extremely tough games. I'm predicting a NY / NE Superbowl.

Neither win was pretty, but it's a NY / NE Superbowl.

And NY will win.

Both won. They weren't decisive blowouts but you can't say Baltimore or San Francisco deserved to win those games.

So true.

Seeing Flacco and his team choke made this die-hard Texans fan feel infinitely better.

Brady winning would be a slap to the face for all the Tebow fans, but...

I just get the feeling Manning has more to prove.

Its a win-win for me either way.

If the Ravens won, we'd be talking about the Patriots turning the ball over three times, and Brady missing open receivers on plays that might've gone for big gains. Any given Sunday, right? :D

I'll pick the Patriots to win the big game; I think the offensive line will prove to be the difference. Eli throws 58 times and only comes up with 20 points? Six sacks and 18 hits? Patriots defensive line is decent, and will get to Manning the Lesser enough to make a difference.

Brady is no Alex Smith, and getting to see a team for a second time will help Belichick more than Coughlin (see the Bills and Broncos games).

So it's a SB rematch huh? This will garner a lot of publicy and a packed-to-the-rim stadium. As we recall, it was the Giants that stopped the Patriots from going 18-0. After books were made and all of that haha.

Not even close. The giants were the one team I wanted the Pats to have nothing to do with as they present a ton of match-up problems. Their pass rush is beastly, Eli has a stable of good wide receviers, and Eli is having the best season of his career.

You know the 49ers were top 5 in defense this year. The Patriots are 31st and the coverage in the secondary is still very spotty. Eli will be able to pick our defense apart.

I believe the Giants will win. The only way the Pats win is if Tom Brady plays the best game of his career and the Defense is able to get pressure, limit big plays, and force turnovers. I just don't see it happening.

However the Giants should thank the MVP of the game Kyle Williams for botching two punts and giving the game away.

Well, as previously mentioned the Giants have two major advantages over the Pats, 1. Their pass-rush is good without having to blitz too much, and 2. The Pats' secondary is atrocious. With regards to #1, the Pat's O-line has been playing pretty well lately, and they even allowed only one sack to that oft-praised Ravens D-line. I think that the Pats' O-line will do a good enough job protecting Brady from a rush of 4, and if the Giants blitz, Brady will certainly have a better game than his clunker this week and make them pay. With regards to the secondary, the Patriots just have to trust that if the game turns into a shootout, that Tom Brady and out-duel Eli Manning. As good as Manning is, he's no Brady, and as good as his weapons are no one can match the Welker-Hernandez-Gronkowski triple threat. Should be a good game though...

Remember though the field conditions in Candlestick were awful. Before the game they were pumping water off the field. Smith only completed 1 pass to a wide receiver the whole game, and was 1 for 13 on 3rd down conversions. Balls were consistenly underthrown, receivers were losing their footing (I saw Cruz slip a few times in his routes), and players couldn't hold on to the ball. And yet they still battled each other relentlessly into overtime, where it took a critical mistake in terrible field conditions to determine the winner.
