What a game..

Kings up by 2, wonder if the Sharks can come back.

Off to Montreal when the game is over for Easter holiday, so depending on if in-laws have internet or not will decide if I post this weekend. :)

With the Stars and Sabres loss, all 16 teams have been decided. Tomorrow/tonight is just fro seeding now.

Eastern conference scenarios:

- Caps have reg/OT win advantage over Senators so their scenario is the Caps are a lock in 8th spot unless they win, and the Senators lose in regulation.
- Caps can take their division from the Panthers if the Caps win and Panthers lose in regulation. Caps have massive reg/OT tiebreaker advantage.
- Panthers will fall all the way from 3rd to 8th in one fell swoop if they lose in regulation and the Caps win in their game. The only two possible seeds for the Panthers are 3 or 8.
- Rangers just need to be tied or better in points with the Canucks to win the Pres trophy, they have the reg/OT win advantage by a good chunk.

I won't try to cover the crazy scenarios left in the West just yet.

Oh and Sharks have come back and took the lead on a power play goal that upset the LA fans pretty mightily.

Ryan Clowe reached over the bench to interfere with Stoll. Not one of the 4 refs on the ice saw it. I don't care so much about the result (Kings still atop the Pacific) but its more the fact how downhill refereeing has gone. I understand they are officiating the fastest sport around, but the amount of missed calls this year has been horrendous. Its like they are just letting things slid in-game just because they have taken on a "let Shanahan be the bad guy" mentality by letting the league give discipline afterwards. Or missed/mistaken golaie interference calls, inconsistent hooking/obstruction... the list goes on.

Tortorella comments on the Penguins: "It’s one of the most arrogant organizations in the league."

I will agree that their success over the last 4-5 years has led to arrogance. They better hope they can back it up with wins.

With both the Flyers and Pens getting the W last night their impending first round face off is guaranteed. It's going to be one hell of a series.

It sure will be. I guess we'll see if the winning team has any players left to go on to Round 2. ;) I expect these two teams to beat the crap out of each other.

Any particular reason for the Pens fans to be booing Jagr?

He left. Yep, he is booed because he left. For some reason many Pittsburgh fans feel it's a capital offense to choose to leave the city. Not only did he leave many years ago but when he came back to the NHL, he shunned the Penguins and chose to sign with the Flyers. It's all pretty silly if you ask me.

That's what I thought, although you would likely hear the same thing in the reverse from Flyers fans, depending on who it was.

The goalie change for the Pens is probably going to cost them the game, not that that matters much.

I saw that. I missed the reason why Fluery was pulled. Was he hurt, did he tweak something, or are they just resting him?

Grats to Malkin on 50 goals!

I stand corrected, a lack of effort and Bob is going to cost the Flyers the game.

They took Fluery out to rest him. Apparently Bylsma said it was a possibility before the game.

Thanks.

The game meant absolutely nothing, but it was good for the Penguins' psyche to get a win. The Flyers being 5-1 at Pittsburgh doesn't thrill me, but it's better than them being 6-0.

The Red Wings/Blackhawks game was insane. Great ending, I still can't believe those dekes pulled by Datsyuk and Kane (even if Datsyuk didn't score.). Even though the Sabres are out of the playoffs, the Bruins/Sabres game was pretty sweet too, going to a shootout. I'm watching the final Frozen Four game right now.

I'm so glad the the Bruins aren't a team that relies on the Powerplay.

Hey ZMan, what did you think about Khubodin? I saw earlier that you weren't expecting him to play too good, but I've seen him play in the AHL a few times and he's actually pretty good.

Canucks and Oilers on CBC right now. Score is 0-0. If Vancouver wins they have the Prime Minister's Trophy.

EDIT: Correction, they need just 1 point.

Indeed. Me and my dad were the few people cheering for Stamkos all game. When he scored we stood up first to applaud. What really pissed me off was that despite boo'ing him all game everyone else stood up and applauded him. Hypocritical idiots in this city.

Picks for the Stanley Cup? I think the East is going to be tough, but I'm going with my gut and saying the Rangers. As for the West I'm going with Detroit just because it's tough not to pick them.

Round 1:

- Rangers vs. Senators --> Rangers in 5
- Bruins vs. Capitals --> Bruins in 6
- Panthers vs. Devils --> Devils in 5
- Penguins vs. Flyers --> this will be a great series, Flyers in 7

- Canucks vs. Kings --> all bias aside, Kings in 7 (yeah I'm serious :P )
- Blues vs. Sharks --> Blues in 4
- Coyotes vs. Blackhawks --> I would've picked Chicago here, but Phoenix looked really good against St. Louis on Friday, and Smith is hot right now so Coyotes in 6
- Predators vs. Red Wings --> Preds in 7

As for my preliminary picks for the Cup: Predators vs. Rangers ---> Preds in 6

I like him. I, like many Bs fans out there, expect, (due to his 800k contract) him to be backing up Tuukka next year. He'll be a solid backup, and could mature, eventually, to compete with Tuukka for the starting spot, but I don't see that happening so soon.
Bruins all the way. Repeat?
:slap: No jynxing it.

So the Bruins draw the Caps in the first round, instead of Ottawa. I'm only scared of the PP disparity..but besides that the Bruins are a better, deeper, more balanced team. We'll see.

I really think Pittsburgh has a shot to win the East if they can get by the Flyers. The only problem is that I don't know if they can get past the Flyers.
