ES Online, Summed up Reactions from Player-Base.

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 11:36 pm

All of my wat.

Rift is doing fine. It's still very profitable. Also, the fact that you put SW:TOR in there is laughable.

Kind-of

Not really.

They had to merge several servers.

Both MMO's.

is till dont get why people take the "technical limitations" argument serious. its BS other games (such as TERA) are already doing it realy well. The second argument thats BS is that if you dont change it to WoW model nobodys gonna play it. Skyrim got 7 Million people buying it, more than half of that in the first few Months.
You tell me thats not enaugh playerbase? And how many of these WoW like MMORPG were successfull? right! None!

First off. No. Bethesda should never make an MMO. Screw anyone who wants it. They should only make the single player games. If you wanted a TES MMO, this is what you got.

Zenimax online may not have made what you want but at least they did. It svcks they decided to go the safe route with the WoW or whatever gameplay but to me it doesn't really matter. I never played WoW or any WoW gameplay. So I'm guessing I'm the target demographic lol. Funny because Skyrim svcked for me but I loved Morrowind and Oblivion. Meh.

i see most of the anger coming from a gameplay perspective, and not a roleplay or lore perspective.
it seems people need to have a sandbox in order to enjoy the tes setting and lore, which makes me sad because the gameplay for most of the series has been really bad. morrowind was not much of a sandbox :/ it had awful combat in first and 3rd person, but it had the best setting, role play environment, and lore. all the reasons i play the series are in that last positive part. lol.

as for combat :D
this whole immersive first person action gameplay has not been really great since daggerfall, and daggerfall is really dated now. the only other game that has it as good as daggerfall is mount and blade.

ZeniMax is a different type of studio, while they may own Bethesda, Bethesda creates their own work. Developed by people who have been working together for 10+ years.

Zenimax is not a game "studio" per se. Is a media company, a publisher/developer. They own Bethesda and they own the Elder Scrolls copyright. You say Beth creates their own work. So what? The artist that invented and drew Bugs Bunny can't draw his creation because Bugs Bunny is owned by Warner Bros and they can do anything with his creation. Zenimax gives freedom to their subsidiaries studios to do what they want but in the end they own every thing unless Beth cut a deal with them about authorship.

To be honest, Bethesda, you should just scrap the "Like WoW" attitude. Like now.

Bethesda Game Studios did not make this game and they are not to blame at all. They are the victims in this. :(

Zenimax is not a game "studio" per se.

But Zenimax Online Studios, who created TES:O, is.

Bethesda is owned by Zenimax Media Inc, who owns Zenimax Online Studios. I think they made Zenimax Online Studios just to make this game, as it was formed in 2007.
Zenimax Media owns the title and they can do whatever they want with it, including making a [censored] game no one wants.

There's a player base? I thought it wasn't released yet.

And as I always say, never trust forums, counting double for TES forums. Forums are by definition made up of fans, who hate everything anyway. If everyone on this forum were to say they hated TESO and thought it was a terrible idea, well I'd believe that they thought that. Then, if I encountered them in-game, I would be unsurprised. Fan reaction is never a clean or reliable indicator of sales.

Absolutely.

These forums don't even come close to representing the people who will actually be playing the game.

on the other hand. these responses dont come only from this Forum but any Forum this topic is featured on... and most news sites in the comment section. And youtube of course.

And you cannot assume everyone that is not writing in Forums and or Youtube totaly loves the concept cause that is BS.

And if you think that those forums are representative of playerbases, you couldn't be more wrong. Even with a game like WoW (which I only mention because of its immense subscriber base), you only see a tiny fraction of people posting on any forums related to the game, most of them with complaints.

as i just stated, yess its not representative of the playerbase. But you CANNOT make ANY assumptions for the est of it. Only for the part you know. So stop acting like its ONLY the forums that wouldnt want this kind of game. Cause beeing all honest, i dont think most fans of Skyrim (7 million bought it) would like this kinda game. I myself know already 4 other TES players that are not on these Forums that would NOT like a WoW style TESO. You cannot build Arguments on wild guessing, all we KNOW is what is on the internet and what our friends say. And so far all of that has been negative.

No it hasn't. I recall saying some positive things. Gross generalizations just hurt your credibility. And four friends does not a sample test make.

still more than none.

your arguments make no sense whatsoever. the majority of feedback online is negative. and we dont know any of the rest i dont know whats so hard to acknowledge about that.

If you check out the ESO Teaser Trailer "likes" on YouTube, you get a very different picture than what is portrayed here on the forums. Only 10% of the viewers who rated the video gave it a thumbs down. Obviously this isn't the best way to rate the prospective popularity of a game, but it's probably more accurate and objective than evaluating the popular opinion of the fanbase based on the forum's response -- which is empirically hugely negative.

Because generally people who take the time to comment on internet forums (including youtube) are posting negative reactions. You can see that anywhere.

As nerevarine1138 said, the people most motivated to comment, be that on the forums or on video posts, are those who have some complaint to voice. The "thumb" system is more objective as it's more likely to give equal representation to both parties (in fact, it still probably favors those who are opposed to the game).

Well no, and that's the problem, they are trying to target TES vets AND MMO vets. You cannot do that without disseminating the gameplay as we have seen they've had to do. They are relying on name recognition and lore to bring in the TES fans and gameplay and mechanics to bring in MMO fans. This shows a fundamental lack of understanding of BOTH markets.

maybe they should have stuck to the TES formula even in an MMO setting that way they might even attract the now bored out of their skulls mmo players (like me), I know it will be unbalanced and blah blah but really if the game is fun I don't care about balance tbh

so what if playing an archer is really REALLY hard cause I have to actually aim (I HATE heat seeking arrows) hell i do it in BF3 and its 50% of the fun.

so what of playing a mage means I can destroy hordes of monsters I'm a frigging mage damnit, and I might go crazy and swing a sword too :o the horror a mage with a sword call the MMO police (bad sarcasm :P)

...etc

I mean they should have risked a new "thing" rather than just copy paste others

Then why are you still here?

You stated you don't like it and it should be different.

The game has been in development for 5 [censored] years.

This game is not for you. No point whining over it.

Let me put it this way...

You found some cheese, and it was AWESOME.
So you were given another type of cheese, and it was good too.
And another type of cheese, and it was pretty good.
And another.
And antoher.
And another.
And now you're kinda getting tired of cheese, you'd like some other kind of food.
Well, this AWESOME bread company known for their ab-so-lute-ly DELICIOUS types of fancy bread has come to you, and you're like, "SWEET, BREAD!". But they offer you a sample from their new cheese line.

This is how we feel. We wanted something that's not cheese, and the bread guys showed up. We got excited, but were let down when they offered more cheese.

This is definitely the cheesiest post I've ever read.

this isnt true as people that are not intrigued witht he MMO itself might not downvote the trailer....
