ES Online, Summed up Reactions from Player-Base.

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 9:04 am

To sum it up, what i'm seeing is a basic 45% + people, are disappointed.

To be honest, Bethesda, you should just scrap the "Like WoW" attitude. Like now.

Would be a better MMO if it was FPS/ with a 3rd person option. With basic attacks on the mouse.

The last thing, the player fan base wanted to hear was "Like WoW", that immediately threw it , off for me.

Here's what you lose with the MMO...

-Modders, because, lets face it, there's no way you can let us MOD an MMO. Its possible, but not likely on your part.

-World of Warcraft haters, you lose these people automatically. Legit, just dropped, no questions asked. And believe it or not, that is a lot of people.

- People who enjoy the mechanics as is, another, simple player-base you lose, because people are more accustomed to no change, than ugly change.

You had me interested for a second. A split second i was like, wow, this is what i have been waiting for. A game with the mechanics of the Elder Scrolls series, i can finally play the same type of game with my friends. Then i read about, Like WoW combat system, that threw it out the door for me. Completely. I own WoW, and i play WoW, the LAST thing i want is Bethesda to resort to a "Like WoW" Tactic. Last thing i wanted.

Should have just kept the Oblivion skill tree, mixed it with the Skyrim Talent Tree, and Wallah, you have your skillset. Should have just kept the same mechanics, and people would be happy. Most of the people would be.

Let me put it this way...

You found some cheese, and it was AWESOME.
So you were given another type of cheese, and it was good too.
And another type of cheese, and it was pretty good.
And another.
And antoher.
And another.
And now you're kinda getting tired of cheese, you'd like some other kind of food.
Well, this AWESOME bread company known for their ab-so-lute-ly DELICIOUS types of fancy bread has come to you, and you're like, "SWEET, BREAD!". But they offer you a sample from their new cheese line.

This is how we feel. We wanted something that's not cheese, and the bread guys showed up. We got excited, but were let down when they offered more cheese.

A renowned game studio like Bethesda shouldn't be resorting to a "wow combat system". It just shouldn't happen.

Keep things original, change a few things to make it an MMO, there you have it, Elder Scrolls Online 95% of the fan-base happy.

Bethesda isnt making it..........

Which was an even bigger mistake.

Huge.

My work, is my work, im not going to hand it off for someone else to create it to how -they- see fit.

Bethesda is full of co-workers that have been working on this series for 10+ years together, and all the sudden they hand it off to ZeniMax and say here we want an MMO?

No, this fan-base Obviously isn't happy with the tactic. You should see how many people are unhappy about this. Rightfully so.

I think a lot of this percentage is because these forums are not official. They are tacked on to the other TES forums and we have a dispraportionate amount of TES lovers, and not a lot of MMO lovers here. I think when the game gets more press and they open the official site and forums the mood will change dramatically.

Actually, Wulf, it'll change for two reasons - the influx of MMO fans, and the exodus of those who don't like cheese the current style of MMOs out there.

See how great all those other MMO's went with "Like WoW Combat System" turned out. ??? Look at them now, they're under 6 feet of dirt.

Bethesda/ZeniMax had a chance to create a different type of MMO, one we haven't seen yet, and they choose to use someone elses characteristics. It doesn't work, and im willing to bet it wont work.

All hype until the games released, then months later they're combining servers because the fan-base has dropped over 60%.

Call me a pessimist, but its being realistic.

Well TES Online actually uses many of GW2's combat system's features. If anything its more GW2 then it is WoW

Actually, I think most of them are just F2P now. The only one I can really think of that is "for real" dead is Tabula Rasa.

everything about the screen shots and the info given screamed world of warcraft. the creator of the game even said that much. it doesnt even resemble elder scrolls, if someone mixed up kingdoms of amalur,WOW, and TESO pics and were told to choose you wouldnt even tell the difference. even though i believe TES isnt the best rpg franchise to make an mmo from i think fallout screams MMO potential,

i still think zenimax and bethesda had a chance to create the "post wow" mmo, something new and innovative that people would want to play, instead its going to end up like another wow type MMO.

Todd Howard said he and his team dont want to make mmos or such. They dont have experience with such anyways so other than look and lore they would probably screw up the game mechanics.

I agree. Completely.

Yes he did state that, you are correct.

So he hands the lore, and series to another company to screw up?

Real smart.

I'd rather see nothing, than a screwed up game.

In fact, i would love to ignore it like it wasn't even announced. Is how strongly i am against the way ZeniMax took it.

ok ill state here why this makes me angry this mmo as a whole ok so iv played mmo's many of witch are the WOW clone we all know this to be ok now i saw this release and said too myself well ill gladly spend thousands on an mmo for the elderscrolls iv been a fan for years honestly the only reason i play games today is because i was inspired by how great the elderscrolls was as refrence i have well over 600H in skyrim and enough in oblivion to go thru 3 discs and i playd it that much for the fact that i love the way the elderscrolls is i love being able to fight thru my own eyes swing my own sword fire my own magic i play me i lvl what skills i use i can kill who i want be who i want steal what i want throw what i want on the ground not do a quest simply cus i want to do a quest simply cus i want to.
what i see this mmo doing is takeing everything that makes the elderscrolls the elderscolls and throwing it away to net WOW fans basicaly a WOW with TES stapled on top of it it makes me sad and angry at the same time i feel betrayd and this game in my eyes may just be the TES killer we never wanted all those WOW fans will kill the whole series it starts ant the mmo then it will head to the regular games it was nice knowing you elderscrolls you were the best

Yeah, that's what it is, I mean, look at how excited all the people on Massively are.

http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/05/04/elder-scrolls-online-leaks-flood-the-web/

All of the hate directed at this is because the single player game is a sandbox that focuses on absolute player freedom. If this was announced as DAoC 2 with no mention of TES whatsoever there would be excitement in some circles, and no hate. Warping TES and throwing out all the concepts that make it great to turn it into a theme-park styled DAoC 2 is a horrible idea, period. Ask anyone whose been playing MMO's since MUDs and dreaming NOT of what they just announced, but of playing in a sandbox like Daggerfall with a bunch of other people.

Yes, because that totally hasn't been said before by countless other non-WoW mmos.

Dood, look at the facts here - until the fall of WoW, it's gonna be hard to get a leg in period in the MMO market. You literally HAVE to be different, and notably so, to stand a chance.

Bethesda isnt making it..........

I think thsi si the problem people can't grasp.

Pete tweeted that this won't effect Bethesda Studio's future endeavors, so we'll still get single player ES games, we just have to put up with this thing. And you can't really judge a book by it's cover. Unless it's a picture book. Then judge away.

But we hardly know anything, you're jumping to conclusions.

Yes we can, with the juicy information we just received its already done, i will not be buying TES online. Nor will a good chunk of the other % of people. Specifically 70% of that chunk. So Good luck with that. Lol. Having a picky fan-base is a [censored], but i'm glad we are.
