An Open Letter to the Developers!

Most likely, they'll think "We're not investing in another MMO."

So, that's the absolute worst case scenario, is we never see another MMO made from TES. The SP games do extremely well; you'd have to be braindead to cancel those because an MMO didn't sell.

.. uh yeah.. that's sort of what I'd like to see. A TES MMO.

I kind of covered that in previous posts, but eh.. can't really deduce that from that particular response, I guess.

Ah, my mistake, then. This forum moves too fast for me, I can't keep up to date on every thread.

Ahem. Bethesda is making DLC for Skyrim right now and will probably create Fallout 4 after that for the next generation consoles. An entirely different team is doing the TES MMO.

It's lovely to see how many on these forums know what they are talking about.

Seriously ? The gaming world needs another MMO like the arabs need sand! We all know whats going to happen Two week free trial TONS of spam accounts no mods in chat channels we've seen it a billion times. If it can happen to a company like Blizzard what makes you think this will be any different ? I have played more MMO's than I care to count thanks very much so I think im quite qualified to speak. they could have madce another RAGE, or another Fallout or another... anything. No instead they get [censored] lazy and churn out another MMO full of little whiny kids and a group full of people [censored]ing that " you're not holding the aggro". this is gonna be like every other MMO out there just with a different skin.

Too bad the MMO is going to happen, no matter what you think of it. The original point of my post was to, once again, high-light the fact that it isn't bethesda that's behind the MMO. Zenimax Online has been working on it since 2007.

I'm going to go ahead and re-post this quotation, because it's pretty much the perfect explanation for why threads like this are ridiculous:

"A work of art is the unique result of a unique temperament. Its beauty comes from the fact that the author is what he is. It has nothing to to do with the fact that other people want what they want. Indeed, the moment that an artist takes notice of what other people want, and tries to supply the demand, he ceases to be an artist, and becomes a dull or an amusing craftsman, an honest or a dishonest tradesman."

Very well written letter.
I've sent a letter to Zenimax Online also, but i've sort of given in already.
As this mmo is surely going to happen, i can only hope that it does not affect the future release of single player Elder Scrolls.

The only thing i like so far about this announcement tho, was the music.
Really hope Jeremy Soules is composing the music for it also. If anything, i'll buy the CE just to get his soundtrack.

This will do no good. It is directed to the wrong people. It needs to be directed to whichever group in Zenimax Media that will be handling the marketing for TESO. Development answers to marketing, after all.

Cause to my eyes its clear they just signed to post complains, about a game still a year to be released of wich we know barely nothing.
Read the post in my signature and say that again. I dare you. :|

I'll post it again for him:

No one knows diddly-squat about this game yet. We have one preview and a handful of screenshots. At this point, all people are doing is ranting about their own assumptions and inferences based on a scant amount of information. Anyone notice how fast it went from "hotbars" to "non-real-time, point and click combat"? That's not because people actually know anything; it's because many of the posters here are quite adept at crying, "The sky is falling," over even the most innocuous piece of information.

Get over it,TESO is here to stay.

I'm not sure it's going to be 'stay'ing around for very long, tbh.

That is all I am hoping for at this point as well. Although I have played online games, that simply is not my favorite form of gaming. It's more something that I do when I don't have enough free time to really get invested in a story-driven single-player game. I've enjoyed Morrowind and story-rich single-player Neverwinter Nights modules more than I have WoW and other online games.

Not all of us like partying up with other players and raiding dungeons. Some of us prefer a game that is almost like reading a book, but gives us choices in what the main character (our player characters) do and what direction the story takes.

They stated it would not affect the single player games at all. This game was being developed alongside Oblivion and Skyrim already.

It is rather specifically mentioned that you have to reroll a new character if you want to experience content on one of the other sides. I do think that is a well-informed complaint; not some baseless diddly-squat.

No, but I did notice the GI article itself specifically refer to combat as not being "real-time," using that precise term.

Also, if you admonish people for being worried about the game after its announcement, why don't you do the same to people who are excited? The only logical conclusion, then, would be that everyone treat every game announcement with complete indifference, because apparently even a 15 page article doesn't amount to "diddly-squat."

Because there's nothing wrong with being excited about the potential of the game. If you can find a thread where an excited party is making wild conjectures based on a few words in an article and flat-out making things up about the game in order to make their point, please point me in that direction. I'll get right on it.

If you've never considered how the games are made and what keeps people coming back to them, because it certainly isn't l33t speak or DPS numbers.

On that, Zenimax, use instanced worlds so we can filter out other players. Thanks.

Just went through and removed a dozen posts from this thread. Let's keep things civil, people - everyone gets to have their fair say, and this is a forum where everyone's opinion will be respected.

Let's keep away from the insults and personal attacks, as not only does is not help anyone's arguments, but it detracts from the conversation in the first place.

wow so read your letter and I think it's complete garbage. A) you don't speak for the "fans". I never voted for you as king of the fan community that much is for sure. B) don't assume everyone wants want you want.

I personally want raids, instances, pvp and DPS. Sounds to me like you just don't want an MMO. if that's case cary on and keep playing skyrim. I sure will be once Dawngaurd comes out. But you can bet that I'm also excited for an elder scrolls game in a different genre with different game mechanics.

So get overyourself and your opinion.
