OpenWorld PVP Solution

Post » Sat Oct 26, 2013 7:59 pm

in character creation you could mark yourself as a "civilian", "adventurer" or maybe "merchant" and no one could ever attack these kinds of characters. it also would be permanent mark.

of course it would be different on cyrodiil becouse that is a warzone and when you go there you go there for war.

maybe there could be some guards on cyrodiil entrance that would warn you not to go there and you could take their advice or be reckless merchant or whatever.

i want pve players to be safe from horrible gankers and let horrible gankers do what they want as they do enjoy it. your merchant mark would wear off when you go to pvp zone, and that is cyrodiil. everything would work normally, except those who want pvp other places than cyrodiil can have it and those who want to be left alone in other places than cyrodiil do get their peace.

this way everyone is happy and no unwanted ganking or griefing is taking place.

prove me wrong, or suggest better solution.

I MEANT OPEN WORLD FREE FOR ALL PVP TO CLEAR THINGS UP.

There is no point to it when the only time you will see a member of an enemy faction is in Cyrodiil which is also the only place PvP will occur. Thats how the game is designed, don't like it then you need to adapt or move on. There is no problem that needs a solution.

for me being able to defend from evil characters creates so much immersion that you don't even believe it.

Actually the solution has already been announced, there won't be what people consider "open world PvP" because PvP will only take place in Cyrodiil. Which by the way is as big or bigger then it was in the single player game Oblivion. So how much more of an "open world" do you require?

Also you can go to Cyrodiil after you reach level 10 and you can stay there for the duration of your leveling experience if that is what you want to do, so really when you think about it like that ESO is sort of "open world" PvP.

Ok this thread can go ahead and be closed now that I have explained it...

They said they do not want open world PvP because it will mean people are fighting in other zones and not focusing on the AvA system involving the war.

well it takes [censored]load of immersion and roleplaying potential out of the game.

edit: oh and the pve content doesn't distract people from cyrodiil?

That's your Opinion

Not a fact.

edit: How exactly does it take the immersion and roleplaying out? Since you are only ever going to see members of your own faction, do you just want roleplay a [censored] who attacks his own allies?

Or would you like them to unlock all territories and let you attack people in their safe zones as well? What else would you like them to give you? A massive one-hit kill sword? A big insta-win button? Might as well ask for them to as I think you;'re about as likely to get them.

(ie: Not very likely at all)

Exactly what I was attempting to say...

Open world PvP completely destroys the core concept behind the three faction war that has all three alliances fighting over the resources of Cyrodiil and that is why Zenimax would not even consider the proposal to make the entire world open to PvP, it destroys the entire concept of the three faction war.

i'd imagine most people would go to cyrodiil after getting through the pve content eventually. it would just spice things up while doing pve.

The thing is though if that is what you want, you can go to Cyrodiil as soon as you reach level 10 and stay there for the duration of your leveling experience if that is what you want to do...the game levels you to level cap and while you will not be as powerful as someone who took the time to actually level their character to 50 you can still go toe to toe with anyone who is 50 for real. The PvP lead for ESO has already said in an interview that he has been able to kill a real level 50 with a boosted level 50 character so apparently you are not completely useless level boosted to 50.

All I did was point out that your opinions are just that, opinions.

How does logic fit into that?

Eitherway, doesn't matter, they aren't going to change the PVP system just becuase you want them too.

it goes both ways man. you can have your opinion, which was that leaving owpvp out wouldn't take huge roleplaying potential out of the game, and i can have mine which is that it is just your opinion.

You haven't explained yet how not having OWPVP kills immersion and Roleplaying.

Unless your whole intention is to roleplay a jerk who camps safezones and ganks and griefs level one players fresh from character creation.

There's no need for a solution to something that's not a problem. Despite the numerous game play reasons, you can't attack people in the other territories because if you're part of the war, you're following orders to take and hold strategic points in Cyrodill, not terrorize civilians and adventurers. And you know, they design the game for heroes, not villains.

Not to mention cyrodill is huge, but that goes without saying.
