People keep complaining about combat

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 8:10 pm

Well i know its not perfect but its not bad.
Maybe Beth will focus on melee for the next game.
I think they've pretty much nailed magic and there's not much you can change with archery.
So maybe they'll perfect combat next time around.
At least i hope so.

Combat in TES games wont get much better before they hire new people to make it.

Everything can't be perfect in an elder scrolls game. They put so much into them.

Melee combat in Skyrim from what I've seen is good enough (which can be modded) and anyone who doesn't like it should remember that TES is never really built with an advanced combat system in mind.

Combat seems to be pretty good. The only thing weird thing is that you can keep hitting enemies over and over and they won't flinch, like hitting a wall. A hit/stagger animation on landing hits that aren't blocked would fix that. I'm sure the modding community will jump in when the script extender becomes available.

All the rest looks great and feels more visceral than combat in Oblivion. Locational damage would've been nice, but not a deal breaker for Skyrim.

I was hoping I'd want to play Skyrim at the highest difficulty, but after watching the streams I don't really see the point. There's no damage localization and it seems like mobs simply get more health. It's not a big deal to me, because I'm looking forward to the story much more than what I expected from combat. So that's fine. Easy difficulty here I come.

In a perfect world, combat would be more like Dark Souls. Oh well, whatever.

Combat with weapons won't concern me in my first playthrough, I'll be a pure mage. Magic in Skyrim looks awesome, and it's one of the things I look forword to. :flamethrower:

Why can't you block with a 1-handed sword like you could in Oblivion?

they should have a look at dark souls or batman or assassins creeds combat. I think the issue with ESgames is u can't lock on to an enemy and I think that's why the combat isn't up to scratch with other games . these games make u focus on an enemy even while moving ur still locked on them so while ur swinging ur sword ur connected to that enemy where ES u just blindly swing and in a way hope for the best. that's what Beth needs to have a look at doing

I think Oblivion wasn't so bad. Anyway as long as it has nothing common with Morrowinds annoying combat-system I won't complain.

People will always complain about something, no matter what u do or have made. those who complain about this is probably 67% mmo first person shooter or hack n slash fans..
well, i actually like what ive seen so far, and have nothing bad to say about skyrim so far.. there will be mods for everything u could ever inmagine, so im not worried at all.

The powers that be won't allow us to discuss that in detail here. But judging from the trailers and previews only, I'd also be far more impressed.

would completely ruin the experience for me, however, this would be good if you could alternate between it in 3rd person (i would use that in 3rd person if i felt like playing a more rts style).

the target lock wouldnt fit into TES series. keep in mind this is a RPG not an action adventure hack n slash game.

Play Dark Souls and then play Oblivion, im talking about mele, not magic, since the magic in Dark Souls is kind of lame.

Watched plenty of leaked footage and it look's fine.

Think I would cry if it ever became anything like Dark Souls combat ---> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0mWUJXtqb8

I guess I should play it before I bash it (like half the people on these boards with Skyrim O.o) but it just looks horrible <_>

I'm more amazed by people determined to mod massive changes into the game before they even want to try it for the first time. Reminds me of people who put salt and pepper or some other seasoning on their food before they even try it.

Better comparison would be Dark Messiah of Might and Magic because its 1st person like Skyrim and it has awesome melee combat too.
