A poll about nostalgia: is the first TES you played your fav

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 7:41 pm

So far the conclusion is: Oblivion, out of the three, seems the one lacking love. :)

That always happens :sadvaultboy:

Oh well, I can just retire to my Chorrol home and snuggle up with a good read after coming home from all-day shopping visit to Phintias' First Edition in the Imperial city (Estelle, propieter of Renoit's Books in Chorrol, is charming, but her selection is a tad limited).

My first TES was Oblivion, played MW as much as I could, that game is really a mess. Skyrim is definitely my favorite even without mods yet. There are definitely things Skyrim lacks and did wrong, most especially on PC, but given time I'm sure the mod community will finish developing the game.

Old enough to have physically bought a nice awesome box with a friggin lich on the cover! Installed daggerfall and had the blue screen of "soundblaster setup" for getting the sound right.. sat in my flat with my mate, taking turns in playing the same character, drinking coffee and staying up way too late... Oh sweet Odin, those were the days. :) I loved that game so much.. Even though people bash me for it still, it's probably the greatest experience I've ever had on a pc, hands down...

My first was Arena. My favorite is Skyrim

:D

Agreed. I guess the OP didn't know there were others before Morrowind because he left them out of the poll.

I'm one of the few who liked all the TES games, but Morrowind the least. Daggerfall was my favorite.

Daggerfall as I had a better tolerance to bugs earlier on than most.

Limited poll. My first was Arena, my favorite Daggerfall. I'm enjoying Skyrim, but wish that along with the great graphics and improved AI for npcs, it was a little more like Daggerfall.

Where is the option for, "My first TES game was Fallout 3."? Because, you know, Fallout 3 is just TES with guns.

The OP does realize there are five main-series TES titles.... Right? ...So like, where are the first two in the poll?

Anyway, I started TES at the beginning with Arena, but my favorite TES is Morrowind.

I started with Daggerfall, and to this day I hold it in great esteem.

It was HUGE, and there was so much freedom, so many options. I played it for years. I'd probably still be playing it if I could bring myself to mess with DOSBox. (Though I'll admit that the flood of guards chain-yelling 'HALTHALTHALTHALT' could get very annoying.)

Then I played Morrowind, and liked it.

Then Oblivion, and it was...okay.

Now I'm playing Skyrim, and am still undecided about it.

I still miss my Levitate, Recall/Mark, Language Skills, ability to buy art, own a ship, fight from horseback, and travel over a tremendous world, littered with new adventures in foreign lands. Daggerfall, how I would love to see a true successor to you!

My first TES was daggerfall, and my favorite is morrowind. I loved daggerfall, but there are too many limits (random dungeons, landscape) by todays standards. Morrowind was to date, for me, the best combination of story, atmosphere, npc depth, character design out amy TES.

I liked oblivion, but there was too much hand holding, and the atmosphere and art design were a huge step backwards, despite a great graphics engine.

I really like skyrim, it's not the rpg that I wanted, but it's a great game.

yes Daggerfall wouldn't really be playable now due to graphics and abstraction.

Currently skyrim is already my favorite of the series. I started with morrowind and played oblivion. I enjoyed morrowind and oblivion basically the same amount for different reasons.

Started with Oblivion. Thought it was the best game in the world. Then played Morrowind, and was on equal "best game in the world" status. Then played Skyrim, and it trumps both of them.
