A poll about nostalgia: is the first TES you played your fav

Started with Oblivion. Voted Morrowind as my favorite (on technicality), but I'm liking Daggerfall and have played it more than Morrowind (so far).

My first was Morrowind, and I miss a lot of things about it, but I can't say I really have a 'favorite.' Skyrim ruined a lot of things that will be very easy for modders to fix, (complete absence of difficulty, balance issues, horribly implemented level scaling), and fixed things that are very difficult for modders to fix, (a graphics engine that wasn't written for the original xbox some time in 1872, less laughable combat mechanics), so I think Skyrim has a lot of potential. So far though, I am disappoint.

I started with Arena, and loved them all in their own special way. But the best of the lot is Skyrim

To the OP: If you're going to talk about nostalgia you made a poor choice of not wanting to include Arena and Daggerfall. Not all TES players are 15 years old. Anyways, I started with Daggerfall. What a massive game that was. Then, I played Redguard; had the best written dialogue and voice acting in all of TES. Then came Morrowind. The most atmospheric game and most epic theme song that even today Beth is recycling it.

Currently skyrim is already my favorite of the series. I started with morrowind and played oblivion. I enjoyed morrowind and oblivion basically the same amount for different reasons.

I was just thinking about this and was going to make a new thread.

I was thinking how bad oblivion is compared to Skyrim. I never noticed the repetitiveness until I played Skyrim. I never really noticed the cartoon dynamic it had going on, although became a bit suspicious during the robin hood quest despite the interesting dynamic of using the beggars. Thinking back on it, I just played it recently and my god Skyrim is so much better. The world, the feel and the character development. I really feel my character is based on what I want it to be. Keep in mind, I loved Oblivion, one of my favorite games in the world but it pales to Skyrim. Everything is better.

Started with Morrowind, still my favourite game of all time. Oblivion was pretty good, and I played both games for probably hundreds of hours. So far Skyrim has excedded all my expectations, and I'm enjoying it more than Oblivion, but I'm still undecided whether I like it or Morrowind better.

Began with Daggerfall it was fun. Morrowind's game mechanics (especially combat) ruined it for me. Oblivion is fun. So far I enjoy Skyrim. It is to soon to say if it will be my favorite. So far it is Daggerfall for the nostalgia, and it being the first PC adventure game I played that wasn't text.

I stared with Morrowind and hated it, then i played Oblivion and really enjoyed it. After a while I went back to Morrowind and appreciated it a lot more. Now it's my favourite with Skyrim not far behind, almost equal. Maybe when I've finished a few more quests I'll have a better idea of where it stands. Morrowind is something special though, warts and all, I don't think Beth could repeat it if they tried.

Thanks for doing that.

I hope people come back and vote, because as it looks right now, most people started with Morrowind.

IMO, how anyone can make an informed opinion about TES unless they've played the entire series.

I started with Morrowind, after being a long-time Ultima fan, on the recommendation of a friend that knew I liked large open-world RPGs.

I literally spent over a year playing Morrowind on PC with the game proper, the expansions (even got into the beta for Bloodmoon), and the user mods.

I really liked Oblivion, completed the main quest, and continued playing it until my laptop HDD died (lost all of my save games). Picked up playing Oblivion on the 360 after that, but had a difficult time getting back into it after losing all the progress I had made on the PC version.

Skyrim is the first Elder Scrolls game I've played exclusively on the 360 and I'm loving it just as much as its predecessors. I get flashbacks to playing Morrowind with some of the environments (Dwemer ruins mostly, and especially one in particular) plus there are certain musical renditions that are variations from some of the incidental music in Morrowind.

Morrowind it probably still my favorite, mostly from a nostalgia aspect, but I've enjoyed each game I've played and already have 80+ hours into Skyrim without completing the main quest-line; I believe I'll be playing Skyrim for quite some time. :)
