Appears so, but the damage of every EW I have found has gone up as well.

Yeah it appears so, overall it's mostly positive for energy users.

So far ive notived the plsma pistol now does 10 more damage and the rifle does 13 more damage.. the rechrger rifle seems to do a few more damage too and both the tribeam laser and laser rifle do more damage by a good 5 points or so.

Oh and energy ammo is definetly easy to buy now... dinobites was selling 3-400 rounds of ecp ammo a pop.

The regular plasma rifle is stronger than the unique Q-35 plasma rifle, but eats up 2 MF ammo and costs more AP in vats compared to the Q-35. Laser Rifle is indeed stronger.

Here is something else interesting with the YCS/186 Gauss rifle with the old max charge rounds, I could one shot deathclaws. With the new patch Max Charge rounds will take a deathclaw to one sliver of health now.

I must say I realy like how the laser and plasma pistol feel now.. started my new energy char and they both feel like they have a solid purpose that makes sense. The plasma seems to be a fair bit slower now but with the damage it does it feels just right and even tho the laser pistol didnt get a direct damage boost the new ammo specialy the fact you can buy alot more overcharge ammo realy makes it useful for medium range attacking.

As for the recharger rifle.. its slower but it does a bit more damage and with the -2 dt thats a solid change.. feels much better concidering it is a self refilling laser after all.

I have to start a new game because of the patch and removed some mods. I been using the laser pistol against targets with light armour and its going right through the armour. So yes it has improved.

I don't know about medium armour it will be 50/50 I guess or depends what ammo you using. With this play through I have not been that far yet. I going to take my time.

Most dogs and coyotes have "tough dog" DT, which I believe is 2. That's exactly the amount negated by standard EW ammo post-patch.

I have to say that the Tri-Beam Laser Rifle is probably if not one of the strongest EW weapons now. 1 vats shot will take a deathclaw down to one sliver of health with max charge rounds non crit. I wonder if the developers could add the old damage bonus to the overcharge rounds, and keep max charge with the -10 DT the same. The higher end guns, I preferred the old higher damage bonus, and the lower end weapons I prefer the -10 DT. Perhaps a new round?

nice, the tri-beam has a cool design but svcked hard pre-patch.
But when you say the strongest EW, did you compare it with Pew Pew, Gauss/YCS, Multiplas & Plasma Caster? since I haven't got the patch yet (360) those where the ones I used against Deatchlaws & other huge Radscorpions.

Yeah, it beats them all out because of accuracy, 5 shots in vats, and only 3 rounds per shot. Only the Plasma Caster rivals it, with it's high single shot damage, 1 ammo count, and 4 vats shots.

that's good news, could you try the recharger pistol & rifle when you have the opportunity? I was surprised at how much the recharger rifle svcked even in comparison with the pistol, kinda a shame since it has a nice design.

Recharger rifle was not changed. I wounder if it benefits at last from -2DT as it does not use cels technically.
But you can now find one at the beginning of the game.

Is there any point to AER-14? It does less damage, has lower DPS and uses twice the ammo than Q-35. Only advantage i can see is that the beam hits instantly unlike the plasma bolt.

Actualy the recharger rifle got a 1-2 point damage boost and yes it also gets the -2 dt effect.

The AER14 Laser Rifle is a lot more accurate so you can hit things from a distance, if you take laser commando it will deal 41dmg a shot with a DPS of 170. Which is slightly more then then the Q-35. Plus it will critical a lot more often, +20%. Combined with its higher accuracy this means the AER14 is the superior killing weapon while the Q-Matter is more ammo efficient.

I also think the display in the Q-Matter rifle is bugged, it doesn't fire nearly fast enough for that DPS, it doesn't fire four times a second. There is no WAY its DPS is actually 165 like it says on the pipboy Using my laptop clock to time me, When the second counter hit 0, I started firing the Q-Matter, The clip would run out in roughly six seconds[give or take half a second]. The AER14 can also fire twelve shots before reloading[due to the two cells a shot] but it took me only four seconds to unload the entire clip.

Now that I 've got the patch I lust say I am pleasantly surprised by the damage boost the laser weapons got, the LASER weapons...

In the previous Fallout games, plasma weapon were quite more powerful than laser weapons.
Right now, I am wondering if I didn't waste a perk by picking Pasma Spaz, why I am saying that? because right now, with the only exception of the Plasma Caster, there is absolutely no necessity of carrying any kind of Plasma weapon, even less if you took the Laser Commander perk.

I went to try my weapons against deathclaws and, wow, the AER14 sure is a nice weapon now; and the Tri-Laser beam? one shot killer against deathclaws!
So where does it leaves plasma weapons like the Multiplas or Q-35? well, in my opinion, it leave them in the garbage bin: they' ve got a marginaly higher damage and even with Math Wrath AND Plasma Spaz perks they still use way more AP per shot than their laser counterparts.

I think what really breaks the balance is the fact that plasma weapons don't have any significant perk like lasers do with the Laser Commander perk.

Still, I need further testing all those weapons with different ennemies but so far Plasma seems lackluster now.

So, my suggestion atm for the Obsidian team, modify either a current plasma perk to give some major boost (kinda like Laser C.) or add a new perk for it in some DLC.

Well dont forget the aer14 is a unique the multiplas isnt. And the multiplas is only a tier 3 weapon the tribeam is tier 4. As for the caster its about ammo conservation rather then raw power and thats kinda silly for a 20 lb gun.

Can anyone verify if the vendors are carrying more energy weapons ammo? Other than Novac, and Silver Rush, no one really sells any decent amounts of ammo, not even the brotherhood of steel barring the ammo cache that respawns in the front.
