After paying $10 for Dead Money

Post » Thu Dec 16, 2010 2:14 am

If one doesn't like the depth & breadth of a given story & doesn't care too much about "exploring", that's opinion/preference, not fact/logic.

QFT

Can I also add that not understanding the plot doesnt means that the story doesnt makes sense? (some people still dont understand Dead Money story)

There's really no constructive way to respond to threads like this. You can either:

1. Commiserate witht the OP, thereby validating his opinion, but essentially adding nothing of substance.
2. Disagree with the OP, try to espouse an opposing view that will not change the OP's opinion at all.
3. Flame other's opinions one way ot the other, which is never productive.
4. Disagree with the OP, register his opinion as what it is, *his opinion*. Again, adding nothing of substance, or
5. Ignore the thread completely, as the OP is not neccessarily interested in or willing to be moved by counter argument.

I choose:

6. Ignore the OP and explore the dynamics of the thread itself, all the while understanding there's no way anyone will be infulenced by my observations.

Perhaps not influenced, but I'm amused - which is, to me, a valuable thing.

Thanks. I'm in a waxing philosophical mood today. I drank "Socrates Blend" coffee this morning. :hubbahubba:

All I have to say re:time is that I pay $20+ for a decent large pizza (I don't personally include Domino's in that category), which lasts me & my spouse about 12 minutes. Or $11 for a theater movie. Heck even renting an on-demand 90minute movie on Comcast to watch on my not-theater-size TV costs $5-$8. It's the economic state of the entertainment world today (tho there are always exceptions of course). Vanilla FNV can be beaten in 5 hours or 25 hours, or 35 hours. I took closer to 50 hours. What does this mean? It means nothing, except people play/do things at different speeds & spend different amounts of time doing different things in the game, even if they aren't "rushing" the main quest and even if they haven't explored every nook & cranny.

And those are completely different industries with different standards.

It's not about some arbitrary standards. It's about what someone feel is value. Comparing the value you get from a $10 dlc to other things you can get for around that much, I would agree. There's a lot of value for that $10. I can't re-eat my pizza. They won't let me back into the movie theater. I could rent the movie again, but it's gonna be exactly the same movie every time. At least with a video RPG dlc, I can go back a few timse with different characters to stretch the value. From a cost/value standpoint, that $10 was pretty well spent, even if you only play it once. If you don't like it, at least it's not as much money as, say, takin' a date out for a $100 dinner only to find she's a bore with a daddy complex. Hell, I spend $3 every morning on coffee. Even a crappy dlc is worth 3 coffees.
