Wow, look at these guys, saying about the whole "did you think you could carry on." Let me spell it out for you, babies.

I THOUGHT THERE MIGHT BE SOMETHING MORE IMMERSIVE AND INTERESTING THAN AN UNREALISTIC INVISIBLE WALL.

Herp a derp derp, people, seriously.
Like.
Unscalable mountains, and an infinite ocean. Thats how i would have made it.

As for me, I would have had infinite oceans, and around the sides of the map scripted attacks by various creatures which resulted in the PC's scripted death (i.e. tgm is not a factor)

It is to be expected. It doesn't bother me. To the North is freezing oceans that would give you hypothermia anyway and we already saw the bordering provinces

Did you really think that there would be a never ending map in Skyrim?

-Mr. Maric

No, but was hoping it was more like Morrowind than Oblivion.

Like what? And how is a mountain side any more 'immersive' than an invisible wall? Please make more sense next time.

-Mr. Maric

Is that a serious question? :spotted owl:

Anyone know if you can disable the borders via the .ini file like in Oblivion (PC obviously)?

A giant shark is immersive???

If an invisible wall, at the edge of the map, which is the BORDER of the nation infringes on your immersion, that's your issue, not the game's.

I though and hoped them to bring the borders with high mountains and cliffs which are not able to get over.

Morrowind had borders, all games do, but it's better to do it like Morrowind where the borders are in the sea not too close to shore. It's not very immersive when you keep bouncing off of an invisible wall.

I don't see the big deal; the only thing I would really complain about when it comes to boundaries is if I got an invisible barrier forcing me to walk around a steep hill or a rock formation that I can actually jump onto each platform. You know, like New Vegas had; I hated how I couldn't get onto a rock in, say, Quarry Junction because of an invisible barrier. But, seriously, even then I would just be like "Really? [Annoyed]- Oh well, whatever then. *continues playing and appreciating the game*".

this and 'loading' cities were a big turn-off when oblivion and the reason i barely played it for an hour. at least morrowind's border was plausible

....Morrowind took place on an island. The land in Skyrim is part of the main continent.

In Morrowind, it was the endless sea that prohibited you from going too far out. But if you wanted to, you actually could. The map was indeed endless (as far as I know) and would expand as the player kept walking. (EDIT: There was, of course, nothing there) Probably the same here by the way but since Skyrim isn't an island it's not really an option to do this.

Errr, since when is a mountainside NOT more immersive than an invisible wall? At least you would have a tangible reason that you could not continue in that direction, instead of bumping into a bit of solidified air. :P

Because if Skyrim was completely surrounded by mountains that you couldn't climb, how could anyone get in or out?
