You and Lady Luck

Post » Sun Jul 01, 2012 10:18 pm

Mm, sometimes being good means you do the right thing despite knowing that karma might not deposit a reward in return, and in fact might kick you in the face for it. But you should try and do the good thing anyway...because it's just the right thing to do. That's how I see it anyway.

I don't do good things with the expectation of a reward, it's just annoying when my actions are repaid with something horrible happening!

Are you in a loving relationship or did you get a flat tire and miss your first date?

What I mean is: are you a lucky person? unlucky? neutral? Do you make your own fortune? Does luck even exist? Please discuss!

My luck with women is like robbing Fort Knox with a butterknife, it never going to happen---yeah my luck is real bad unless it has to deal with shopping then it's great but when it comes to relationships----it's never going to happen.

"She".
Sorry I assumed too early :P
Although I'm not big on the concept of reincarnation anyway, I figure I would've had to be a fundamentally different person to clock up that level of misdeeds: it's just not in my character.
Umm... well karma and incarnation come together under same believe, why would you rule out one and accept another? When they were both of same system of Buddhism teaching.

You can omit one and the other, even if they come under the same teaching.

Both are preposterous, but one more so than the other (reincarnation).

I don't really subscribe to either, except when I'm pondering: it's more a case of "this is a pisser"! But generally speaking, I don't buy into any system of beliefs wholesale anyway, regardless of the subject.

When I was born, I put all my stat points into luck.

But sadly, I have yet to encounter a situation where my high luck stat would've given me something good...

I know your kind, you get lucky with all the trivial things but never properly utilized where it could benefit you. The kind of person who enters a draw casually 30 seconds before it closes for the heck of it, I'm sure I'm going to win, got there as soon as it opened, and you take home the grand prize. Then I go drown my sorrows in ice cream but it melts and I get the wrong flavor :(

I never trust Burger King and I actually ordered a double whopper with no tomato, a fry, and a coke with no ice. I got a single whopper WITH tomato, a fry, and a DIET coke WITH ice. When I got home I literally wanted to burst into tears of angry rage at the universe but I joked that this would happen and so it decides to torment me because I made a joke. Gaaaaaaah! ;'(

Actually you can't, but if you insist. It's like taking out the CPU or RAM from your computer and complain that it doesn't startup.

I believe in karma as a cosmic force even less than I do in luck. I don't even believe in karma as a convenient word for more factual events, as I do with luck. Maybe if I EVER saw anyone "get what they deserved", it would be more plausible.

It would be interesting to see how many people who claim to have good luck are naturally optimistic people, and bad luck the opposite (pessimistic?).
I'm sure that's often a factor, but on the other hand, I wonder how many of them developed a pessimistic personality because their life's coincidences leaned heavily in the negative?

Lucky to have parents that can support and provide for me. Other than that, I don't really feel like luck exists, you make your own luck

I seem to have terrible luck, I can't even win a free donut on roll up the rim with like 1 in 6 chances to win something when I drink several coffees a day.
