Are you in a loving relationship or did you get a flat tire and miss your first date?

What I mean is: are you a lucky person? unlucky? neutral? Do you make your own fortune? Does luck even exist? Please discuss!

I'd say I'm pretty lucky. It's easy to say that when you've been shot at and came out fine.

I had a fortune cookie last night tell me that "I will have great luck on the next new moon" which is this next Tuesday, so I will tell you then.

But in general I find that I am pretty lucky for most things. Most things usually work out in my favor.

I'm not naturally very lucky: I'm the one who gets all the red lights, who rolls a one every time and always gets the lame horse in the sweepstakes. My luck is so notoriously bad that colleagues used to refuse to go to the tube station with me as the train would always break down when I got on it. So, no, I'm not.

Luck only comes into play in things that are beyond direct or indirect influence, such as winning the lottery or an illness regressing beyond all medical expectation. Everything else is usually a consequence of our relations with others and our previous actions.

(the guys I played tabletop games with in college, wouldn't let me touch their dice. When I wasn't around, they drew a totem of me on the whiteboard at the end of the room, to attract the bad dice rolls. :tongue:

Unlucky as hell. I have to fight for every inch of stuff I get. Despite all the setbacks I'm still here, still clinging on. Rage is hell of an anesthetic.

Not to say I've had no luck, but by and large if something good happens I have to get ready for about 10 or more things to go very wrong.

Extremely unlucky am I to the point I can predict where the failures shall occur. Also, it doesn't help if I need something done in stages. If my master plan needs 8 stages to be executed, 2 or 3 are bound to go wrong and if they don't, then stage 8 is guaranteed to fail. It's a piss off because I can't avoid it. I can lmake plans, go to bed, wake up, and predict exactly why and which things are doomed for failure, despite the fact that it looks all good.

I too ascribe to the "luck is a bunch of bahooey" field of thought, so iunno. I don't keep track of my misfortunes and fortunes, I just know I have some of both, just like everyone else.

So average luck, I guess? :shrug:

Edit: Sure are a lot of people who attest to having bad luck, though, I wonder if negative bias has a place in this?
