Is Dawnguard really worth $20?

I'm not suggesting that people looking for feedback should buy the product first. I'm suggesting that the people giving the feedback should have experience with the product in question. The feedback from someone who hasn't bought the product or operated the product has very little credibility or substance.

I disagree, I think most of us have had enough experience with video games to know how much content is worth the money. $20 is a lot, it can even be the difference between being able to pay your bills on time or being forced to postpone them and hope you can take the hit.

For me, I would rather wait.

Hi there croc. Good to see you're around.

Playing Devil's advocate here, but is there a chance different fiscal regimen apply, you know, could VAT and other tax differences account for the discrepancy?

If Beth / Steam were paying our GST, it still would be overcharging the Kiwi's by over $1.50 And the Aussies are effectively paying $26.42 USD for this. ($25AUD, today's exch. rate.) Kiwi's GST is 15%, Aussies is 10%. But I'd make a big bet that Beth / Steam are just putting their paws a bit further in our pockets because - well, because they can. Only way is to tell them 'No, you can't.'.

Sooooo buggy. Expect graphical bugs from things that have absolutely nothing to do with Dawnguard, and expect them often.

The pros are: Serana, Jiub and Vyrthur are all excellently-written, the second-last boss battle is amazing, and the Vale is a gorgeous place. The armour included is some of the best-looking so far, and... well, it's fun and took me about 12 hours to complete. Not bad, considering Fallout 3 DLC cost half the price of Dawnguard and took a fraction of the time to complete.

...on the other hand, it takes about as long as Fallout New Vegas DLC took to complete, and costs twice as much.

It will be interesting to see how this is handled in the CK. Or via mods...

... there seem to be some pretty good things about Dawnguard as well. The castle looks rather cool, Forgotten Valley worth exploring, dawnguard armour and crossbow worthy additions.
You're right on the armour, the castle and the crossbow, but I think forgotten Vale was a wasted opportunity. It is pretty desolate and there isn't much to do. If they allowed things like the dragons and the ice giants respawn it would have more replay value. Plus it has a poorly signposted and slightly confusing quest that takes place in it. Not that it isn't a cool new area, just that it could have been much better.
