Is Dawnguard really worth $20?

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 2:44 am

Does it add new towns or villages? I am debating whether to buy it, I might wait for it to go on sale, 20 euros seems pretty steep.

No. Dawnguard adds two new castles, which judging from Let's Play vids, you could liken to the size of Dragonsreach. Alongside that are several other new locations added, but no towns or villages.
Alongside that, vampires and werewolves get perk trees, and there's a new quest chain to complete as the major attractions.

People have spent 40 hours on it.
No, people have spent 40 hours running around doing side quests that take you to vanilla skyrim dungeons. Thats not new content.

Hi there ebevan91!

They're working on a new IP, called Cyberpunk, which somehow seems to be intended to go head to head with Betehsda's Fallout series.

On topic, Dawnguard for PC is currently priced at around 20 bucks. That's way too pricey. Half of that at the very most.

Buying any CD Project game day one.. They care a lot about their consumers..

Dawnguard adds a main quest with two factions, two big castles, an incredible follower (I love Seranna with my heart and soul) crossbows (which aren't poorly integrated, mind you), more side quests, expands upon the lore of the Falmer, has some pretty great new places to explore (well, one place, really), and it has vampire and werewolf perk trees. It has more content than Knights of the Nine while priced around the same at launch.

I'm merely regurgitated what was already said before, but it is definitely worth $20. The only game-breaking thing are the Vampire attacks killing off some people you may find essential. This wouldn't be an issue if Beth was able to do that thing they said they'd do where a merchant's son takes over the business or something along those lines... :(

Oh, and the fact that you can pay for Armored Troll companions is pretty amazing.

Its pretty amazing, I cant see how anybody says its short 6 hours already on just one side and im not done, and yes I fast traveled everywhere.
Take it I did some of the radiant quest on the vamp side to get goodies.

And who the [censored] said this is going to be like Shivering Isles.

Bethesda said that Skyrim DLC would feel like expansion packs which is where the claims are coming from.

You're in for some disappointment.

Any self-respecting PC player is going to wait for a $5 sale on Steam.
Save $15 on Dawnguard, for other things. Be smart!
Be just as cold, calculated, and money centered in your decision, as Beth was in the exclusion deal with Microsoft...

It's worth about $15 at the most, and that would be if you never ran into any glitches or annoyances.

Considering all the [censored] I've been through with it, it's worth horse armor, and even horse armor was less annoying.

It's US$25-30, for us, dirty foreigners!
We are being overcharged, just to add insult to injury, after Bethesda's embargo on PC $ PS3 players...
Vote with your wallet. Wait for a $5 sale on Steam!

That's the healthy customer/seller relationship. They want all my money with the least amount of effort, i want their product for the least amount of money. When acceptable compromise for both parties is reached, the sale happens. And 19€ is not one for me.

I thought it was fantastic, in depth story with some impressive voice acting and its incredibly easy to become emotionally attached to the characters. It also has a lot of content post storyline, which i wont really go into to evade spoiling it, but yes definatly worth the money in my opinion

EDIT: Plus, they heard our complaints on the difficulty of the boss fights in vanilla, and they delivered some intense fights in return :D

Yo, buddy, many are still pissed off, and no amount of begging is going to depart them from their hard earned money!
And by the way, PS3 players, and PC players from certain regions are unable to buy the mediocre vampire flick...
