Witcher 3 wont force TES to do anything becuase witcher is fundimentally a different game to TES, in terms of overall goals.
Not to mention that going from a largely linear game, to a big open world game, isnt going to help Witcher's story, or gameplay, unless they do a lot of cheap tricks that games like Dead rising 2 do by putting timers on quests for FORCE "consequence", which was, and is, one of the most HATED features of dead rising 2.
I was thinking this too. It's a bit like saying professional rugby will have an affect on professional American football. The are similar in the fact that they are position centric field sports, but they are fundamentally different games. There are those who are ignorant of one or both sports always trying to draw comparisons. But those who know both sports realise that you can't really. If the competition is a different beast then it isn't really competition at all. Just Cause 2 (one of my favorite time killing games) is also open world boasting a massive map uninterrupted by loading screens. True, it has no RPG elements, but turning Witcher loose open world isn't necessarily going to make Bethesda sweat it.
That said, competition is good, and I'm all for it. But a development house implying that they are going to compete with TES when there typically is no varied character creation in their series is sort of over stating things a bit. I'd like to see a Baldur's Gate (I'm talking old school PC Baldur's Gate... not that crap that came out for the Xbox about a decade ago) world rendered in three dimensions using the latest technology. That would pull me away from Beth in a heartbeat.
