Option to turn off the protagonists voice

Someone who knows anything about mixing will likely be able to take existing LS lines and create new ones for modded NPC conversations. All that will really need to be recorded are the new NPC lines.

I said the same thing months ago. Find some amateur voice actors who are decent and get the modders too add in the ability to change your voice. A lot of people struck it down saying it's too time consuming and wouldn't work. But I think it will work just fine, lots of modders out there who'll spend years working on a single mod that adds a 3-10 hours of game play. Once the voice actors get the lines down, syncing the lips to the words isn't too difficult.

There is no manual lip syncing involved (thank goodness). With the Creation Kit - it just happens.

Well, the GOAT actually did dictate your occupation, so...yeah.

This is an issue where I don't have a ready response. However, there is likely a setting in the dialog tree system that denotes which actor the camera looks at when dialog is being spoken, which should be possible to modify with the GECK when it is released, and possibly prior to that with TESSnip.

I'm pretty sure it's been stated that dialogue could take place entirely in first person, and that you could actively do other things while in a conversation (including have a second conversation) so turning off the cinematic camera shouldn't be an issue.

The scene that I watched was a dramatic scene and the male character delivered his lines completely flat. It was like he was shut away from the scene and had no connection whatsoever to the pacing of the scene. In most cases like this a male will take control of the scene and take the dialogue the direction it needs to go.

The problem with Beth taking a middle ground, because as we know this is a RP and we might not choose to play a 'hero,' is that the result is a male voice that is disinterested and couldn't care less about the scene. And that sounds worse than always creating a male 'Nord.'

Mass Effect turned out okay because it was a linear story-line that we just followed either playing good or bad.

Really this was always going to turn out bad because the way that we role play a character in a Beth game is so different to that.

Unfortunately nobody spoke up in the team meetings. Or were out voted.

Edit- As I said in the earlier post I really hope that the problem was only in the one scene I watched and the rest of the game is okay. Dialogue is so important to a RP and to stuff it up would be a disaster.

Doesn't bother me. I don't have a real strong take on it, but since there's been a new thread on this every week I might as well chime in. I'm sure someone will think I'm a filthy casual who's not enjoying the game correctly, but oh well.

Ha! Good reply.

But I am sure that if you watched two movies, one with good voice acting and one with wooden voice acting, I know which you would enjoy more.

That's true. But I'll wait to chime in on that argument until I've actually played the game since I'm avoiding leaks.

That was a test you took and chose your answers accordingly, and they gave you an occupation based on those choices.

I don't see how it applies.

What sane person would want to turn off Courtenay's voice?

I'm unable to express just how irritating and old that has become to me and I haven't even started playing the game yet. Unless I mod out the voice or the system is vastly improved via mods, I won't be getting any of the intimidation type perks because I hate how lazy they were with adding actual well-executed dialogue and variety to what is said when the abilities are used.

Is that the new "arrow in knee"? This is the second time I read that phrase.
