Man, I'm stoked for New Vegas, but I also CAN'T WAIT for the next Elder Scrolls! It's about time they get to work on that!

we can expect ESV to be pretty good for sure, its gonna be even better than oblivion was, it seems like bethesdas games get better with each new game, there are prob things people like in the older game better, but they are innovative and imaginative and they make awesome games.

Yeah....hopefully they take note of the improvements made from Fallout 3 to Fallout: New Vegas and incorporate those changes, particularly competent writing, into the next ES game.

I'm betting we'll see something like VATS in the next Elder Scrolls series... I don't know exactly how would be implemented but it's just something I think will carry over in some way.
I'm also betting they add flint lock type pistols and maybe throwing weapons to the next one. Then again they are probably working on a new engine for the game.. so I guess it will totally depend on what the new engine is capable of.

It's far more likely they'll just bring back Crossbows and Throwing Weapons

Well I don't want to see Vats in the fifth Elder Scrolls, nor do I think it will be in at all. As for flintlock pistols and the like, I strongly hope they aren't implemented, but there's always a chance and I've got one of those sneaking suspicions that they could make an appearance.
I hope the - atleast core - of the engine stays mainly the same though, as I don't want them to do anything drastic and I love and trust the current engine. I hope they do something like how Oblivion changed from Morrowind. It was the same engine, but just had lots and lots of improvements and some adjustments.

Competent writing?

The writing from Morrowind to Oblivion took a dive, from Oblivion to Fallout 3 took another dive.

Fallout 3's writing was that bad?

I suppose it's all a matter of opinion, but yeah, it was.

Also the jump from morrowind to oblivion brought an entire world fully voiced with close to 1000 npcs. That is a massive undertaking and they did pull it off.

There were plenty of NPCs in Morrowind, plenty of them were voiced. I was massively disappointed in Oblivion. That's me though.

The voice acting in morrowind was no where near the undertaking it was in oblivion...I don't think anyone would kid themselves about that. Seriously oblivion is an entire world fully voiced and morrowind isn't even close to a quarter of that.

Well maybe I'm incorrectly remembering the amount of voice acting in Morrowind...but frankly I don't care. I'd rather read well written dialogue then listen to poorly written dialogue. I'd rather take part in a few factions who are thoroughly thought out than several that are poorly thought out.

Did Morrowind really have that small an amount of voice acting?

Ive been pushing for the next TES to be Fallout with Swords for years :D

Except almost everyone has the same voice, and the voice acting isn't 'acted', you can hear how scripted it is in their intonation. Its horribly, horribly done

Before this gets locked for being horribly off topic....

I'd rather the ES series return to it's Morrowind/Daggerfall roots than be New Vegas with Swords or Oblivion Part 2

I believe so. I don't remember much at all at least in comparison to oblivion because every single word is spoken in oblivion. Honestly from what I remember, morrowind doesn't have a tenth of the voice work that is in oblivion.

Perhaps I just read the words with a voice in my mind. I'm pretty sure the main characters had voices at least. And frankly I'd rather have the main characters voiced and the support characters written, rather than have everyone using the same 5 voice actors (plus one unneccesarily expensive voice for a token character who plays a large role for a short time then dies).

Off topic, not much to do with New Vegas, not much point in keeping it open.
