PS3 Release for Dawnguard - Thread #16

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 6:50 am

Bethesda for PS3 users is a company we love, but they just don't seem to have the tech down on the platform in question. If they want to remain a major third party developer they should really invest in a few people who know SONY's tech somewhat. I'm sure that as we speak they are working with programers native to the PS3 to resolve the issues and I have faith that we will get Dawnguard and other DLC's that follow. This is the first time I've heard of them actually reaching out to sony for help instead of just releasing an unplayable content on PS3, which they have done in the past with the fallout series. I hope that after this whole thing is over they will have obtained the knowledge to work with the PS3 platform and be able to not only port the DLC, but to do it right without degrading the quality. I know a lot of people are saying it will never be released but I don't believe Bethesda would give up on 1/4 of their entire fanbase. It may seem like theres not many PS3 users who play games like these, but trust me there are. Also I don't think that anythings wrong with having a personal prefrence between consoles. To many people are still trying to make this some really devoted fan contest where Microsoft wins, but in the end... we are all gamers are we not?

This is the bad news. They better not do this with the next Fallout Title, if I can't get all my DLC for Fallout I am going to be majorly pissed.

It's not confirmed that it will be released nor that it won't be.

It has now been hinted that it may not. Based off of that statement it won't be unlikely to hear of a cancellation. That doesn't mean it absolutely will be cancelled, it just means that there is now a definite possibility.

Dude, those are some rose colored glasses you are looking through.

They said, 'the ps3 is getting a ton of attention'

Then they said that 'they have all reached a good place of parity'

Then we actually got the product it was like, 'Well try buying an SSD and deleting all content from your hard drive. We are going on vacation, good luck'

Then they said 'Actually we knew it was broke but we sold it anyway.'

They aren't working with Sony. They are lying - AGAIN.

Probably just trying to appease the few remaing PS3 customers who will be gullible enough to listen and still buy the whatever blobs they will pass off as DLC later.

We won't really get anything but more kicks to the tenders and maybe some horse armor down the line.

i'm sure they're working with sony but how deeply they're working with them, what they're really doing, how much attention is really being given, and how much progress is being made is all up to question.

My PS3 copy honestly worked fine now, but I don't have saves that are extremely large that cause the frame rate lag.

They probably can get it working for PS3 so long as dawnguard doesnt just destroy it, which I don't quite see why it would since the game is loaded into cells and not all at once.

Everyone says it's ram but Beth said the problem was a new world every time someone loaded a game? That just sounds weird and completely unrelated to ram in my opinion.

I know the working fine and bug filled games are hit and miss. I know the last update messed up a bunch of peoples games further, but personally mine worked fine besides some random kill animations where I just froze, nothing happened, and people kept attacking me.

I agree with you 100% i mentioned this earlier in the thread. It just makes sense to clean it all up now...to avoid a problem later
It took 8 months for the ps3 version of fallout 3 to get its first dlc, the following week we got three more catching up. Zeta was a simultaneous release

it took 8-9 months to get the vanilla game of skyrim working for some PS3 players and even still some have problems.

If dawnguard is the same, it'll be a while xD

I only had a problem with lag. I rarely ever had freezes, and even then only on load screens when the yellow light mysteriously stopped blinking which seems more like a harddrive problem to me. Even now I'm continuously hearing clicking sounds coming from my PS3 (80gig fat upgraded with a 320gig a couple of years back, recently had YLOD and reballed), which sound like they're coming from my harddrive. Yet no lagging on the XMB or anything like that. Other than the clicking sound, it runs perfectly normal, and lately I don't even get freezes on Skyrim.

Only time lately that I get freezes is when my brother in law is playing DCUO, which seems to be an inherent problem of that game, and when both he and I are playing (mostly happens to him though) Transformers Fall of Cybertron, again, inherent issue in a game that JUST recently came out that just needs to be patched. Lately for me, Skyrim runs just as it should. Just about perfectly.

I never even noticed a drop in FPS when entering the starting dungeon that some seem to report. It always ran perfectly up until my save size got to around 6 to 7 megs. Then that was fixed after 1.4. I guess I should bless Talos I've been so lucky, considering.

Agreed, as a silver lining I havent had any lock ups or freezes since 1.4, but I am guessing they fixed it with duct tape and superglue instead of an actual retooling, then again the whole engine seems bugged no matter what platform, reason I say that is Xbox had freezing issues as did PC, Xbox just got more love, and PC has ways to work around it. I think its a combination between selective treatment and a beautiful, but flawed engine

I want to know if hearthfire is ever going to be for ps3, because of the exclusiveness of Microsoft bethesda aint say [censored] about that. Its a wonderfull DLC and i really want it, so Dawnguard.
This Bethesda guys are making my days since 30 aug. really depressing.

I find your optimism a smidgen unwarranted. Considering their track record with dlc and late patches. Although I am a tad envious of your happy go lucky attitude, quite frankly I prefer my pessimism over you're optimism as a more comfortable cushion. Hopefully you're view towards receiving the dawnguard dlc encompasses all negative thinkers including myself.

I like looking at the positives. I believe that saying "dawnguard isn't coming" is too early. They are still working on it...THATS FACT!! SAYING DAWNGUARD IS CANCELLED = POSSIBILITY ONLY

I'm wondering about Hearthfire myself. After watching it on my husband's XBOX, it doesn't look like that big a deal. So they can't release THAT on PS3 either? I'll be anxious to see.

One of the reasons I made an account here. This is one of the funniest posts I've seen in quite a while. And sad but true. While it's true our faith in them has been shaken Anakin Skywalker style, I do believe they are working with Sony. They have everything to gain from releasing our DLC along with the rest. And I believe they are genuinely working their hardest to bring this content to us. I do not believe they intentionally shafted us. But only Bethesda truly knows the series of events that got us to this point. And if anyone released a memoirs on this... it'd probably make the New York Times bestseller list. But I'm sure they all signed nondisclosure agreements.

"No one should be punished for their console choice."

All that aside, we as gamers must hold them accountable. We can make a difference. When the next Elder Scrolls comes out, or the next Fallout, I will not be buying it. I will want to, but I won't. I own a pc, 360, and ps3. My platform of choice is the ps3. I always liked Sony quality (though this memory thing is a bit ridiculous). Looking forward, I have serious misgivings about any product they release for the ps3. So buy it for the 360 then? No, that's not a solution---that's a bandaid. No one should be punished for their console choice. But look at these sales, look at their success! Why should they change? I hope the fallout from this farce would be enough for them to change.. and yet I think only a major decrease in sales will convince they that we as gamers have had enough.

Bethesda, I love you. But I hope your next game flops. You know the saying "You're only as good as your last performance"?

Storm, I know you're an optimist and quite frankly that is awesome to see after all of these unfortunate events, but I think you might be giving people some false hope. You're constantly saying how you can feel Dawnguard coming soon, and you tell people that they are 'trying their best' and 'working with Sony'... Well, we can only take their word for that, and there's been no significant updates on Dawnguard's PS3 progress. I do respect your optimism, but I think it would be best if you stopped convincing everybody we'll definitely be getting Dawnguard. Please don't take this badly, I just think it's more fair to stop with the "It will be here soon!" stuff.
