Well, I hope that 30-day exclusive contract was worth it Bethesda. I've been a die hard fan since Daggerfall, and I have to tell you, I never expected you guys to fall into such antics. To me, you guys always seemed like one of us; true lovers of the RPG. Now, with this whole mess and that slop you call Elderscrolls Online, it's very obvious you guys have different priorities.

Dawnguard is a definite 'do-not-buy' on my list now. And if things continue in a similar fashion, that list will include any other future Elderscrolls. Signed in just to post this, and show you that the measures you've taken are hurting your sales and your image. I won't beg and wine for you; I love you guys, and its sad to see you follow suit with all these other guys that let the corporate stuff take control, but ultimately it's your choice on what type of developers you want to be. People like Brian Fargo and the folks at Double Fine have shown us that if developers are truly interested in delivering what the fans want, and in keeping the spirit of their games alive, they can do it even without the corporate ham-hawking. So there is really no excuse; you've sacrificed the good will of your fans for money. Someone, somewhere in your marketting team made this assessment early on, and your producers greenlit it anyway. So you know what's going on, you're not all innocent, and you could have prevented this if you really wanted to.

Anyway, good luck to those of you still waiting. And Beth, please rethink your strategy, for your own sake.

I say blizzard is the best, becasue they have been around for almost 20 years, and they have made the most money based on the products they produce, while other game comapny's try to stick with whatever game console trend is out. blizzard stuck with PC, and they have exceled... others have come, and gone.. WHile blizzard is still there.... Valve is still around, but they focus less on games and more on steam and dota these days.... and they didn;t start working on Diablo 3 untill 5 years ago.......... I am sure they worked on the game concepts here and there, but development didn't start untill 2007, and it was a small team, that got alittle bigger each year... Wow is a 10 year old game.. and there are still between 8 to 10 million people playing it, and I can tell you its not out of any loyalty to blizzard... Its becasue there is nothing else that really compares to it.... I mean the numbers speak for themselves... blizzard went from a small PC game company to a Fortune 500 company.......

$15 a month to run around as a panda isn't exactly my idea of fun. WoW lost its fun shortly after Burning Crusades.

BC was probably their best expac. Though I did like WOTLK (only because of the lore). After that the game fell off a cliff. The real sad thing about Warcraft, is that is used to be a very social game. Now, despite it being a MMO cross realms everything has turned the social part of the game into trash. There's no soul left in that game. And the shrinking player base proves my point.

Enjoy living in your little corporate run world.

The OP is correct and also has a right to voice his concerns just as Bethesda have the right to alienate and possible chase away their customers.

A crap ton of PS3 players still bought Fallout 3's DLC, 9 months after it was released for Xbox/PC, i'm sure they won't lose that much. Not a noticeable amount anyway.

Hi. You must be new here? Where the hell have you been? They've been doing the 30 day exclusive thing for a while now. It's honestly not a big deal. I can't help but feel that the people who start these threads don't leave their rooms or something. Open the window, the sun won't hurt you. Go outside, the air isn't poisonous.

Seriously, there's more to life than sitting by the phone (or computer as in this case) and waiting for the "perfect mate" to call.

No the difference here is that between august and october a lot of games will be coming out and people would rather spend money on that instead.

This started back with Fallout 3. Don't tell me you've only just heard about it? It's a business, it needs money, Microsoft presumably offered them a lot of money for a simple 30 day exclusivity period. If I was faced with such an offer as a Developer, I'd accept in a heart beat, and so would you.

Same thing happened in 2009. Major releases during include;

Uncharted 2
Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2
Street Fighter IV
God of War collection
Batman Arkham Asylum
Forza 3
Killzone 2
Demon's Souls
Dragon Age Origins
Resident Evil 5.

They're always going to be confronted with stuff like this. People will buy Dawnguard in droves regardless. Bethesda knows this.

Woah there. I have 19 posts, you have 4.5k. Obviously I am new here...So how does this little insult of yours work? I'm new...But I spend too much time here? Huh?

Also, insults are a sure sign of a reasonable, level headed argument. True fact.

the developers at bethesda game studios almost never read these forums. so its safe to say they will never read this.

And if you really wanted them to see this message you should have sent them an email or letter directly.

However, Original poster, you did not make this thread because you want the developers to see this. You made it because your not happy with having to wait, so your trying to rally other people in these forums to agree with you and not buy the DLC.

Or something like that, but its all in fuetility.

If you really have something to say to the developers then click on the "contact us" link and send them a piece of your mind via email.

But stop trying to stoke fan rage on these forums.

No.
The publisher part takes the M$ bribe, the actual devs themselves (who unfortunately take the brunt of the rage from gamers for circumstances out-with their control) would probably rather pour some more love into their game.
Unfortunately the world is run by muppets who worship money and the people who do or did their jobs for the enjoyment or some reward other than cash, end up further down the food chain and having to work for the greedy gits.

Me personally, I would tell M$ to go [censored] themselves, in fact I think they should anyway, as I have been through enough experiences in life to realise money ain't the be all and end all.
Most people find that out to late in life though, governments and institutions love these people as they keep the meat grinders churning.

Holy [censored], companies want to make money. YOU SOLD OUT BETHESDA!!!!!!

Grow up, it's likely that Microsoft's money funded most of the finished product and Hell, if it helps them get by and make more money off of something then why not? Do you not want the Elder Scrolls series to be successful or would you rather they cater to people who would veto a purchase due merely to the fact that Bethesda tried to make extra money from it.

Oh and also, if the OP has the right to voice his opinion then so do those who would mock such an opinion.

I understand the need for capital, but the problem is that PC/PS3 users are treated like second rate. I don't know about you, but I'm not interested in paying to be second rate. I'm pretty sure Bethesda makes enough money where no one has to settle for second rate releases, but they do it anyway.

Like I said, I'm not here to riot or demand anything. I'm simply stating my displeasure of the situation, and pointing out that Bethesda chooses to allow these situations to be possible. I haven't really followed the Fallout 3 front, but if what you say it's true, it looks like they've been making this choice for a while now, and are probably ready to do it again and again in the future. If this is the case, then I'm not sure if I can consider myself a loyal fan anymore.

so if you had a debt of approximately 50 million dollars and one company offered you some where near 5 million dollars for 30 days of exclusivity, you would choose to keep at least 5 million dollars worth of debt to keep an impatient minority happy?

why should bethesda risk themselves financially for people who become enraged when they have to wait a little longer because the developer has to FINISH the product.

if any thing i would say they are learning their lesson from the release date, in which they refused to push the date back to fix existing bugs so that they could keep the 11.11.11 release date, and now they are taking their time so that they release a proper patch for the game.
