Unless PS+ service, Sony introduced PSN cards at a later stage, so no company is forcing you to ever put your details on their system. (Unless you joined at a early stage)
Sony are correct in using this as a chance to rebuild, and upgrade the security.
Plus, I’m sure many used false information, for DOB. Which is key if they wish to do transactions. Moreover, most banks request a security password when confirming purchases online. If you have made your passwords all the same, for every instance, you’re at fault for thinking everything is always secure. Its always been advised that you don't use passwords more than once.
They haven’t confirmed the leakage of CC details, but say it’s a possibility. That’s a heads up for you.
Of course its disappointing news, but these things happen. Only thing users that will continue to use this in the future can do, is when its back up, change passwords, fake your addresses, and start purchasing PSN cards.
