Rap Music

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 10:03 pm

A Tribe Called Quest
De La Soul
Public Enemy
Eric B. & Rakim
2pac
Nas
Common
Mos Def
Wu Tang Clan and related solo projects

A lot of that you could call hip-hop, but as far as I'm concerned hip-hop is just rap that's not boring.
This, especially 2pac n nas.
Ill add damian marley too. wouldn't expect a brony to have good taste in music.

ASAP Rocky is a great rapper I enjoy, I'm sure you guys will like it.

ASAP Rocky - Purple Palace
ASAP Rocky - Purple Swag - Chapter 2

Nujabes may have just been a hip-hop producer but when he had guest rappers, it was always good (I also love his instrumentals as well)

I also love MF Doom

Nothing wrong with Lil' Wayne. He, Eminem and Wacka Flocka Flame are some of my favorite rappers right now.

I hope you're not serious.

Outkast, Nas and 2pac are pretty much the only rap artists I listen to, there's also Gil-Scott Heron (more beat poetry than 'rap') and Scroobius Pip, all are worth checking out. Nas and 2pac have probably been mentioned already

Those are probably my favourites. Throw in some Wu-Tang for good measure.

Funny, I used to listen to this tape back when I was a kid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YN9muHLuHDc&ob=av2e. Yes, the Black Eyed Peas did exist before Fergie.

I can't say I'm a huge fan, but there are some songs that are alright. One of note is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hS47pqVnIaU. I heard it because it was in Ken Burn's Jazz documentary, and he talked about the bass player Ron Carter doing this fusion thing with MC Solaar.

I also like the Eminem half of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uelHwf8o7_U&ob=av3e. That counts as rap, right?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1IFiyhffP0

I also like The Lonely Island. Won't post any of their songs though. I don't think they're forum appropriate. :P

Not many songs can be posted here, even if they curse in other languages. But I think "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQ2yoZpx3Lo" is appropriate enough for those of you who are too lazy to look him up. :P It's also one of his only songs where he is speaking predominantly English.

The only rap music I can stand is Eminem and Kid Cudi. I am mostly a Dubstep and Rock kind of guy.

I really don't like rap music, but the same could be said for many waves of music... Rock comes to mind.

Rock doens't make you act like someone who was on death row.....when you actually grew up in a nice neighborhood, had loving parents, went to a nice school, and never touched a gun before.

Rock might make you dress strange or something.

I'm not saying anything bad about rap. I don't care either way. But it's funny to watch the suburban white kids act all gangsta.

To each their own... If they want to live out Malibu's Most Wanted, so be it. Let's just hope they grow up and realize how stupid it all was.

Hated rap for the longest time with the exception of one of the best rappers out there, Eminem. But then I got to listening to some other artists that he collaborated with and really got into it.

My list ( in no order ) :

1. Dr. Dre ( Everything. )
2. 2pac ( Everything. )
3. Biggie Smalls ( Everything. Particularly " Everyday Struggle " and " Juicy ". )
4. Nate Dogg ( Regulate, 'nuff said. )
5. Snoop Dogg ( " Still D.R.E. " and " Nuthin' but a G Thang " are awesome )
6. 50 Cent ( "Gatman and Robbin is great" )
7. Hittman ( On some versions of " Forgot About Dre " )
8. Eminem ( Of course. )
9. Andre 3000 of Outkast, both he and Big Boi are good together.
10. Kardinal Offishall
11. Obie Trice
12. Jay-Z
13. B.o.B. ( Really good stuff, needs more recognition. )
14. Bizarre, Proof, Kon Artis, Swifty, Kuniva, Eminem, also known as D-12.
15. Cashis ( Not bad )
16. Drake ( Not terrible, not a huge fan )
17. Lil Wayne ( His verse on " Forever " was sick )
18. Royce Da 5'9
19. Bad Meets Evil
20. NWA

Might be more but those are the groups/people that come to mind.
