Of course the minute I start actually playing Oblivion they go and announce another game. Happened when I bought Morrowind, too. Is this going to be a tradition for us now?

Am I the only one that got up from the chair and started dancing some kind of improvised happy-dance?

Logged into the forums and saw the new addition. Reaction: Cool... it's about damn time.

Not shocked or surprised, as I saw this coming with the reformat of the TES forum.

Watched Todd walk onto the stage like a rock star and snickered just a little.

Watched the "trailer". Reaction: Cool.

Went to the kitchen and made coffee.

well, just the usual procedure: write news, create new sub-forum, register new domain - that's the mechanical stuff, still need some time to realize it on the emotional level ;)

So who just saw http://playstationlifestyle.net/2010/12/11/bethesda-reveals-new-elder-scrolls-at-vgas-release-date/?

I'm pumped! Woo!

Your thoughts?

Whoa. That's what I get for playing Mass Effect 2 all weekend; I missed the announcement until this morning.

I'm not sure how this will fit in with Keyes' novels, though. Maybe Skyrim will take place long after the events of "The Infernal City".

The upcoming (date unannounced yet) Guild Wars 2 sounds similar, as the return of five dragons in the latter brings huge geographic and political changes to the world of Tyria. Maybe this is just coincidence. I'll be buying both games anyway.

I literally broke my desk jumping up and yelling when I saw that TES:V was in Skyrim. It's what I've wanted since Morrowind. Now that it's finally announced, I wish I could say I could stop checking the forums every day like an obsessed ex boyfriend, but this means I'll probably be wasting even more time here. :/

I just found out by mistake in Community Discussion when a mod mentioned a Skyrim announcement. Checked forums, saw Skyrim section, tap-danced, then cried when I saw November 11 release date.

Here's hoping for a Morrowind-kind of depth ressurection. I am sure you can pull it off Beth!

I wasn't expecting the announcement any time soon, so I was very surprised and excited to hear it. I still sort of can't believe it's finally happening!

Okay to be serious I thought "Oh great, another Elder Scrolls game that will draw me in like bad fanfiction." I have grown to despise Oblivion on so many aspects it unbearable. I have never hated a game so much in my life. I hated the combat since I ultimately would ALWAYS go use a sword, the writing was horrible and bland and felt very uninspired, and the world itself was just boring and repeating.

People like you make me sick. Your not a TES fan at all. Get off my lawn (Insert mean words that make me-the poster-look even stupider for getting poed at this) ----.

What the hell?

I like the fact that Akulakhan is in the teaser site. I guess Dagoth Ur is back. You didn't really see him die, he fell into the lava with the heart, sure, but they killed Dagoth Ur a bunch of times before Morrowind happened, they tried destroying the heart as well. Even the ashlanders said after Dagoth Ur was defeated that he might come back.
Awesome.

I squealed in an uncontrollable fashion.

Skyrim is perfect, thank you Bethesda!

Perfect? We only know the name of the game, and that the story has something to do with dragons.

I heard "Dragonborn" at the end. Could my dreams have come true? Might the Septims yet live?

That would cause a conflict with the end (Main Quest) cut video on "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion" when Martin (voiced by Sean Bean) says, "..the last of the Septims passes into history."

Lets see....

I was playing Minecraft on the Unofficial BGSF Server. I had just logged in and SkyShadowing had obviously been chatting with himself in-game as he was the only other person there. He had caps lock, you know... cruise control, and was shouting something about TES:V Skyrim. I immediately thought to myself, "Not this [censored] again, it isn't even announced yet. Stop calling it "Skyrim"."

So I asked him. "What are you talking about." Then he told me that TESV had been announced and to check the forums. So I did.

Afterwards we were both cruising caps lock, cuz we're cool, in the in-game chat shouting about TESV and then Terpy came in.... and joined us. :P

I can't wait for this game.

I really wanted to be pumped about this, but then I remembered what a disappointment Oblivion was.

Not to say I'm an absolute pessimist about the whole thing, but Oblivion was a bad enough burn that I'm approaching this new iteration of the series with no more than total neutrality.

I didn't want to subject myself to the SpikeTv Awards to find out whether or not a new Elder Scrolls game was being announced. So the next morning I did my usual scan of Kotaku and to my amazement there it was! Best video game related news in a LONG time. Oblivion was the very reason I bought a 360. Since then I've had two 360's and both have died from RRoD. Due to frustration, I've been without a 360 for almost a year, but Skyrim will bring me back!
