A Request for a Brotherhood of Steel DLC

Post » Sat Jan 15, 2011 12:10 am

I for one love playing as the Brotherhood of Steel.

But in New Vegas your interaction with the BoS is extremely limited and it's one of the negative things about the game, for me.

I'd like to see a DLC that allows for more BoS interaction.

I started this poll to see where everyone else stands.

Thoughts and feedback are always welcome.

But please be respectful of other opinions.

No, there shouldn't be. The Brotherhood of Steel by and large is a dying organization. Personally, I'm tired of them returning in nearly every game at this point. Let them die off and quit beating a dead horse.

How do you figure them to be a Dying Organization?

I voted yes, i love the brotherhoods ideas of preserving technology, but i think they need to develop more from it.
Maybe not a whole DLC, put them in OWB or something...
And the brotherhood left the Big Empty, in search of their brothers in the mojave hoping one day to re-ignite their faction

You make a great suggestion on maybe not an entire DLC but incorporating.

I have added said option to the poll :)

How do you figure them to be a Dying Organization?

Between their war with the NCR, the Mojave chapter, it's ignorant and arrogant isolation, and it's very hostile attitude when you refuse to hand over tech they think is theirs.

The brotherhood arent 'protectors of the past' mind you, you don't see them carting off autodocs. No, they take weapons and armors, not to 'protect the world from itself' as they make it seem, but because the Brotherhood are militants who want all the shiny toys to themselves. The Wastelanders know this, and largely dislike them for their hostile ways.

no, I don't want a BOS DLC. I want a WHOLE GAME featuring them. Hopefully FO4. No more cowboys and mobsters please. (I'll play Red Dead or LA Noir if I want that kind of stuff)

How do you figure? One of the companions in the game is Brotherhood and the main story involves determining the fate of the Brotherhood chapter.

Limited interaction is the Viper Gunslingers. (See: Who?)

I agree with this. The Brotherhood has refused to adapt to the rapidly changing world, it's no longer 2161 so the Brotherhood can no longer justify its behavior by arguing that they're "protecting humanity from itself". They've also been in pretty much every game, and they had two full games dedicated to them (Tactics and BoS). I think it's about time for the Brotherhood to fade into history like the Unity and the Enclave.

BOS and Enclave has been beat to dead for a long time.

West BOS are dying
MWBOS fate is unknow
East BOS have better things to do rather then trying to communicate with other Chapters, like for example, reconstructing CW

If they appear again in Fallout 4, I be pissed if there is no a GOOD reason for the existence aside from "They re cool"

Bring me the a new faction or give more protagonism to others, but BOS again, no thanks

I think that BoS's appearance in NV was very well incorporated, i remember the first time i strolled upon hidden valley and went WTF this looks like some crazy government facility and then later in the game i found out thats what it was after all :)

Personally I like the BoS (west and east). No I don't think we need a DLC for them for New Vegas, they had enough retrieve quests and a companion and where part of the main quest.
Spoiler
Also Dead Money had BoS in it with Christine and Father Elijah
. I'm sure the Big Empty will have some BoS references, maybe even Enclave. As for Fallout 4 (New York most likely if the Creation Engine can pull it off and if new consoles are out by then) the BoS will be in it. I'm sure it will be in the future so Lyons BoS will be sending BoS that way to expand their territory just like NCR is doing in the Mojave.

God no. The BOS are so overused now its ridiculous. They were never that important in the earlier Fallouts, and it was a breath of fresh air to see them put back to where they belong in NV.

The only way I'd like to see them in a major role is as villains.

Nah, keep them as a side faction, makes them more interesting that way. Though a DLC with them being on the side would be ok just not them being the main thing in it

No.Like others have pointed out, they are a dying organization. That and they're too sci-fi-ish for my tastes in this type of game.

I would rather have neither.I want a game world where the NPCs actually look like they are in a wasteland.

While I like the BOS, I agree with those that say they are living in the past and are a dying organization. Since a big part of their storyline in New Vegas was based around the fact that they need to either evolve or parish, I would support a Brotherhood DLC that saw them rolled up into the NCR becoming a Special Ops unit of the NCR similiar to the First Recon, only obviously with a more broad mission. Spray their Power Armor with NCR colors, give them rank and their you go.....you have an elite ground unit that can handle pretty much any mission that the NCR could throw at them. While I agree that many Elders in the Brotherhood would definitely not support such a decision, I could imagine there being a "revolutionist" type similiar to Lyons that is able to see outside of the typically narrowminded viewpoints held by many Brotherhood members. In this way we could see the Brotherhood evolve and survive while also adding significant strength to the NCR helping them greatly in any future conflicts. This could also create an interesting storyline similiar to the 'Brotherhood Outcasts' of the Capital Wasteland, since there are bound to be those that refuse to be a part of the NCR.

well yeah, this. BUT if BOS are coming back in any shape or form, then no more bit parts. Full army.

I would rather things were a bit more Mad Max too :)

It makes me angry that anybody would think that putting the BoS back in the game. They have been in every game in Fallout. It's getting old. And if we put anything after the battle of Hoover Dam, it would defeat the purpose of the ending. Even in F3 it was a terrible add-on, and that was a better ending than the FNV Hoover Dam.
