El Salvador Gang Tattoos?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 11:21 pm

So,i just watched a Brink Costumization Video and saw those El/San Salvador Gang Tattoos which Mr.Wedgewood used to show in the video but i dont think such things related to gangs or something shoudlnt be ingame.
NORMAL Tattoos, like tribals,an anker with "MOM" over it or something,i dont have a problem with that or tattoos in general but i have a problem with these stupid gangs.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zonkPHMuhqg

I mean,i dont wanna act like the upholder of moral standards here but these gangs are so voilent and so disgusting i REALLY think that shouldn't be in A GAME!
And most of the time it's young boys and girls joining the gang cause they dont see another exit if you know what i mean. It's really sad. :(

What you guys think about it?Am i just a little bit overreacting or is it valid criticsm?

Overreacting a bit me thinks, I mean.. It's not like people are gonna join up gangs becuase they could choose a gang tattoo for their in-game character in BRINK

I wont be getting a [censored]-load of cross-tattoos becuase I'm gonna wear the Crossceant body-tattoo on one of mine, nor will I preach about God or try to start up another crusade

I think you are indeed overreacting.

There is no proper link between the BRINK world and our real world. The "El Salvador" tattoo is probably imitating a similar style like members of a gang would have, but that doesn't make people feel appendant with that gang.

I say it's a bit of a good point. I've got a son who wants this game, and when he's all done up with gang tatoos and sagging shorts, i will have a legit reason to be concerned. I dont want his character representing an el salvadorian thug. know what i mean?

Honestly it really shouldn't matter they are just tattoo's within a "game" they are not promoting any gang activity what so ever. I can understand if the KKK, Nazi, Bloods, Crips, w/e have you but they are just there for looks, nothing more, nothing less. Plus it's a location not necessarily a gang.

Is your son allowed to play Call of Duty (Soldiers/Terrorists/Rebels), Halo (Supersoldiers/Aliens). Grand Theft Auto (Gangs)?

Good point, Compared to all that stuff, a few gang tatoos wont harm anyone... but if my son ends up actually joining one of these gangs... then there will be a problem. But thats very unlikely to happen, he'll be to busy full out enjoying this amazing game to worry about anything else.

I understand where you're coming from and I can sympathize with you, however I don't believe that a video game tattoo will effect anyone's moral standpoints - even if it is representative of a real world gang. It's unlikely that anything will come of it.

I completely agree with you, but I see where the OP is coming from. Some people might be offended or disturbed by this inclusion in the game because they might have lost a loved one due to violence in this gang, or is a former member and has some bad memories.

So do you also believe shooter games led to kids that shoot people as well?

I have played nazis, zombies, warlords, insane killers, gangsters etc. still haven't been converted yet. Maybe these tats may make me a true Salvadorian gangster this time.

Good news, iam not a Gang Member in ANY WAY.Yeah we had "groups" in elementary school (kids love to build groups) and such but not this definition of "gangs/groups" like i mean in this thread.
And an even more good news for me,iam not from El/San Salvador.I mean, besides all the gang stuff going on there,it could be a WONDERFUL place, its really beautiful there at some places. You wouldnt believe.

I just have a problem with those "Bloods/Crips" "MS13" and i dont know how they are all called cause i cant understand the ammount of violence going on there.

@ Guy above me

NO!HELL NO!!!!And i never sayed that!

I just sayed i dont really want those tattoos ingame cause most of the times it's innocent children and teenagers which are sliding in these gangs cause they just dont see other options over there.
Watch Ross Kemp on Gangs, and you'll see.
Thats two COMPLETE different things.

I think those tats look cool and it's just a game. I mean if I use the Yakuza tat (which is the Japanese mafia), it doesn't mean I'll go and join them.

I just realized how futile this argument is. No one is going to be directly affected by there in-game character on brink, theyre just gonna play the game and have a blast

it annoys me when other moms try to moraly parent other kids and me

Damn, that's pretty sad when a kid is telling a parent how to be a parent. Your kids are going to be lucky to have you when you're a parent.
