Say no to ghost towns. Part 2.

Drake Malice: Have you even looked at some of the possible conpromises for this? There's one in the OP and one in my previous post. They both make sense and still offer a challenge.
It is not a challenge, i am attempting to remind everyone that SOME of us like the FEATURE, therefore it wont be removed because it is only game breaking if yu are lazy and refuse to defend the people in the city

Not when it is Mehrunes Razor...i can never find that thing again. The POINT is that as long as any amount of people are NOT B!tching about it then it will remain

So if they set up the game to eliminate all of your data the 427th time you loaded it up and 1 dude out there screamed from the rooftops that Bethesda was awesome because they implemented this that they wouldn't change it?

There is the strategy of switching weapons when about to fight opponents with disarming abilities. With vampire attacks, there is no strategy. This is a real game-breaking issue that cannot be avoided short of deleting the expansion.

Just wondering guys, when do these vampire attacks start? So if i start playing after downloading dawnguard, can the happen? Or do i have to start the first quest in the dawnguard vs vampire storyline for it to start happening?

Game-breaking?! Of course not! If you purchase my newly minted copy of the Vampire Apocalypse Survival Guide you are guaranteeing the safety of yourself and all townspeople!

Not really, but I couldn't resist!

He'll come up with a way, it won't make much sense, but he will.

Supposedly at level ten, but there are reports of it occuring earlier.

I have heard from others that they will start before you are even offered the quest. Part of the reason I believe something should be done about it. I understand that as part of the story line, it can work, but, should be ended as soon as the quest is, or at the very least, the chance of it occurring should be the same as the chance of a dragon attacking a walled city(read: extremely unlikely). You can opt out of having dragons attack you by not advancing the story line, but, it seems with these, just having the dlc auto-enlists you into fighting them.

what svcks is, this basically becomes the main quest of the game, it's not just an expansion it's a game changer, if you ever want to start a new character you can't just ignore the quest line like you can with the dragon quest but this vampire stuff starts at level 10 whether you want to or not! they should have made it so the vampire attacks don't start till you do the first quest for Dawn guard that would have helped some what was Bethesda thinking?

This "feature" will eventually kill off every non essential NPC in your game world. Have fun with that.

Apples and oranges again.. OI doesn't effect your game negatively by killing off the population every time you use it... For that matter, if someone doesn't want the OI, they don't have to do the quest. No choice with the vampire attacks.

Choosing to take all the steps to level up your character as much as you want =/= NPCs dying en-masse with no way to avoid it.

You are actually.....trying to compare......a glitch that far fewer people have complained about, and can be COMPLETLY AVOIDED, and DOESN'T HAVE A NEGATIVE EFFECT ON YOUR GAME (it can help if you wanna cheat) to THIS? There have been three threads on this (four including the survival guide) since YESTERDAY! You, sir or madame, are beyond grasping at straws at this point. You believe what you want to believe. Wallow in your self-created reality, friend. Meanwhile the rest of us will continue discussing this using logic and sanity.

The feature shouldn't be removed, but it should really be toned down, most times you don't even know the Vamp Squads are there until you see a pile of ash on the floor. In my mates game, Dawnstar and Morthal(how ironic) are ghost towns, Riverwood no longer exists, Solitude, Whiterun and Riften only have essentials left alive, its an utter joke.

People telling others to man up have no idea what they are talking about, at higher levels the Vamp Squads can kill loads before you even reach them, the amount of inheritance letters my mate recieved was ridiculous.

Finally some sense. I'd rather the feature be altered in the way described in the OP and that defensless npcs didnt attack and would run into their homes, but at least your argument is logical.

I've only had my second vamp death squad attack today and I've been playing pretty much non stop since DG dropped.

I really doubt it was the developers intention for entire towns to be stripped of all non essential npcs the way people are reporting.
Dragons were never like that... If it really is as excessive as people say it must be a bug.

I think the disagreements are arising between people because some aren't getting the bug (and experiencing a moderate attack) and some are
(experiencing an excessive attack).

But then, how much is too much?
Is it rate of attack being bugged?
Or was it a bad mistake to let the vamps scale?

I want to see footage of these ghost towns but atm it's gonna be pretty rare (xbox and all).
This is another reason it's hard to decide if this is a genuine issue for concern.

But people who are reporting excessive npc fatalities seem to be genuinely shocked and upset.
I remember some mild concern about dragon potential for genocide but nothing on this scale of complaint.

A lot of people are dismissing this out of hand but I want to know more, somebody needs to get pics or footage of vamps butchering their way through townsfolk and empty shops etc.

Two threads in and really nobody knows any more about this than when it started...

I'm getting nervous playing now, I'm experiencing a very low rate of attack atm and I'm paranoid the game will make up for lost time at any moment... I just about tolerate rare npc fatalities I didn't cause but permanent mass npc fatalities will ruin my enjoyment of the game.

Someone posted a video showing how people will die on the other side of a town without you knowing until it's too late. The video doesn't show the entire time being butchered but it stands to reason that this will be the end result given enough time. We also have people who have already gotten to the point of ghost towns, so it's really an issue

Unfortunetly you'll probably have to rely on mods. That seems to be the go-to solution for any issue in this game. svcks for console players though.
