serious question

I killed a cat with my car. It ran onto the highway at night. I was going 60mph and had no time to react. Still feel a bit sad about that though :sadvaultboy:

First sign of a serial killer is torturing animals...

Be wary.

I flattened a mouse once. It looked like a tiny fur rug.

Oh, also I poisoned a couple of other mice in the attic.

I had to kill a snake once that got caught in a glue trap. It was a shame. It was a king snake and I like those kinds of snakes. Had to take it outside and take my sword to it.

I killed one moose every year until two years ago to feed my family. I also went to fish camp and caught and filleted many salmon in my lifetime. I've shot two bears because I had to. I have shot spruce hens and ptarmigan and a few hares through the years. If I shot it, we ate it.

But other than a mosquito I don't think I have every killed or harmed an animal other than for food. I am very thankful to the animals who provided my family with food through the years.

So, uh... is there a reason you ask, OP? 'Cause the vagueness of the reason for this thread kind of creeps me out.

It is a bit creepy and if someone admitted to torturing animals for fun, I'd ban them quicker than you can say scat rat.

Since that would be illegal and we don't allow such. ;)

I would never ever hurt an animal. One time I opened the door to the balcony and a small sparrow flew right into it, it was a real surprise. When I stayed at a hotel once several birds flew on my window, I think I might be cursed or something.

The only thing I've ever killed was a pigeon that was sitting on a telephone wire over my neighbors yard. I was probably 11 years old, and I shot it with a BB. It fell into their yard and their 2 Dalmations devoured it.

I do confess that I did shoot arrows at a few kangaroos as a kid :(

I did miss, but I guess it still counts.
Really? Are kangaroos that common?

and to answer the question, no. And if I did hurt an animal, I'd feel reaaaally bad about it.

Prairie Dogs when we were kids. They were on school grounds and the faculty didn't mind if we caught them as they dig holes everywhere. Although we did end up just killing them. Or we'd sell them as pets to other kids. Lol thinking back that was a bad operation.

And then there was the immense amounts of fish we ate. Hitting them with a hammer always did it.

I also used to shoot various small birds with a pellet gun for fun.

I grew up ok. No serial killer here.

I've never intentionally hurt any animal aside from insects if I did not intend to kill and eat the animal and the only animals I have killed to eat are fish. Don't really have a count anymore on how many fish I've fished, always go fishing a few times every summer and I always catch quite a bit of fish. But I've always fished them with the intent to eat them.

The only time that a fish I've fished didn't get cooked was when I was a kid and somehow thought it would be sane to fish and eat over 13 fish in one week, and my cousin who was also the same age as I was thought the same (but he only caught 11 hah!) so there were like 24 fish to eat over the 7 day trip to a summer house and both my parents and his only accounted for eating fish maybe twice during the trip. So a ton of fish was left around places where we knew there were fox dens and where birds would gather, so I like to hope they all got eaten in the end :P

But aside from fish to eat I've never been one to hurt animals.

I accidentaly ripped one of my dogs toenails off because he was being dumb and I accidentally shut the door on his paw. I felt so awful though, I was worried he'd hate me forever, thankfully he doesnt, he was just a little frightened. :)

Yes, I have. It's called eating a hamburger.

Not directly, though, no. Once I caught a salamander and he drowned himself in his water bowl. Guess living with me was that bad. :(

I've shot a fair number of ducks, pheasants, rabbits, and the odd fox over the years. All of them (with the exception of the foxes) have ended up on my dinner table.

My dad is big into game hunting. He only shoots that which he can eat, or which causes a menace (i.e. foxes to farmers). Him and his shooting buddies breed pheasants in order to keep the population strong, releasing them at the beginning of the hunting season. Can't beat roasted pheasant. :)

When I was younger (About 10-12 years old, I believe), I found a small frog in my yard. I started throwing it around until it died.

Honestly, there were other things but all of it happened when I was younger. Of course, I regret it :(

Just the ones that have committed suicide by running under my car. I don't trust people that are cruel to animals (which doesn't include self-defense or food hunting). It tends to be indicative of other, scarier psychological issues.
